Mit seiner skurril unromantischen und radikal drastischen Neudeutung des Ballettklassikers schrieb der gefeierte schwedische Choreograf und Tänzer Mats Ek Anfang der 80-er Jahre Tanzgeschichte. Für das schwedische Cullberg-Ballett – eine der berühmtesten Modern Dance-Fomationen weltweit – interpretierte er Inhalt und Formensprache des Zweiakters zeitgemäß. Die Musik von Adolphe Adam behält Mats Ek bei: Er verwendet eine Einspielung des Orchesters der Oper Monte Carlo unter der Leitung von Richard Bonynge von 1969, die wir auch in dieser Studioaufnahme hören.Die Premierenbesetzung Ana Laguna (Giselle), Luc Bouy (Albrecht), Yvan Auzely (Hilarion), Vanessa McIntosh (Bathilde) und Lena Wennergren (Myrtha) machen die vorliegende Aufzeichnung zu einer Ballettdokumentation ersten Ranges.- Shop: odax
