In May, 1986, at the Court of Appeals in Athens, Dr. Montgomery successfully defended three evangelical missionaries who had been given three-and-a half year prison terms for "proselytizing". The President of the United States and many congressional leaders had written to the Greek government in support of the defendants. Following the trial, Dr. Montgomery was asked to deliver a lecture on the subject at the International Christian Embassy in Jerusalem (June 19, 1986). Here is the recording of that account of one of the major Christian human rights trials of our time. Language: English. Narrator: Dr. John Warwick Montgomery. First published in 1930, Civilization and Its Discontents is one of the most influential works of pioneering psychologist Sigmund Freud. Focusing on the tension between the primitive drives of the individual and the demands of civilization for order and conformity, Freud draws upon his psychoanalytic theories to explain the fundamental structures, conflicts, and consequences of society. Written in the aftermath of World War I, Civilization and Its Discontents advances the idea that humans' instinctive desires---violent urges and sexual drives---create the need for law and structure, which, when implemented, create constant feelings of discontent. A seminal work in psychology, Civilization and Its Discontents has sparked debate since its publication and continues to be widely read today. This edition is the translation by James Strachey. ungekürzt. Language: English. Narrator: Steven Crossley. Audio sample: https://samples.audible.de/bk/tant/002005/bk_tant_002005_sample.mp3. This spare, mesmerizing novel is Edith Wharton's money-can't-buy-happiness tale. Young Stephen Glennard, a lawyer, is poor, but he has an unanticipated gambling chip: a collection of love letters from a scorned, but now famous, lover, the distinguished novelist Margaret Aubyn. To raise money for his forthcoming wedding to another woman, Stephen stoops to selling the letters. His decision brings him wealth and admission to society, but a mystery contained in the missives comes back to haunt him, and it may take the madness of guilt to remind Stephen that he does, after all, have a conscience.Betrayal, greed, and consequences faced make this sly, masterful story a deft social and psychological portrait that stands with Wharton's best. ungekürzt. At 2:45 a.m. on Nov. 8, 2016, television networks announced to a stunned nation that Pennsylvania had gone for Donald Trump, making him the president-elect of the United States, defying all odds in a surreal victory that sent the Deep State - well-funded hard-left extremists, the mainstream media, Obama/Clinton holdovers in the government bureaucracy, and clandestine forces within the US intelligence apparatus - into an immediate panic.  By dawn on Nov. 9, they were already planning Trump's demise: a political strategy calculated to block him from being inaugurated, and, if that failed, to ensure that he would not serve out his term as the 45th President of the United States. Investigative journalist and conspiracy expert Jerome Corsi goes into shocking detail about how this Deep State, or Shadow Government, secretly wields power in Washington and why it is dangerous. Corsi also defines a three-point strategy that Trump must employ to stay in office and have a successful first term.  ungekürzt. Language: English. Narrator: Dan Crue.
