    Theodor Herzls Buch zur praktischen Gründung und Durchführung eines modernen Judenstaates nahm viele Geschehnisse vorweg, die schließlich am 14. Mai 1948 in der Ausrufung des Staates Israels ihre Erfüllung finden sollten. Als einen Bestseller konnte man das 1896 in Leipzig und Wien veröffentliche Buch "Der Judenstaat" allerdings nicht bezeichnen. Das schmale Bändchen erschien gerade einmal in einer Auflage von 3000 Exemplaren. Das Werk von Theodor Herzl war allerdings in vielerlei Hinsicht bedeutsam. Einerseits stellte es den bis dahin pragmatischsten Versuch dar, die Etablierung und mögliche Konstruktionsweise eines Landes für alle Juden zu propagieren; andererseits war es aber noch vielmehr der Grundstein zur Gründung einer weltweiten zionistischen Bewegung. Auch wenn die Buchvorlage nicht als direkte Vorlage für den Aufbau des späteren Staates Israels gesehen werden kann, so sind die Wirkungen der Buchvorlage und die sich daraus ergebenden Impulse zur Gründung eines jüdischen Staates doch sehr gewichtig.
