    2017 Domaine de L'Ostal Grand Vin Minervois A.C.
    Der Domaine de L’Ostal Grand Vin ist eine trockene Rotwein-Cuvée aus Frankreich mit Aromen von reifen Früchten zu einem hervorragenden Preis-/Genussverhältnis! Der elegante Tropfen weist würzige Noten mit dem Duft der Garrigue auf, reife dunkle Beeren und Sauerkirschen liegen in seinem unwiderstehlichen Aroma. Am Gaumen dann sehr füllig und geschmeidig, mit eleganten und rassigen Tanninen sowie reifer Frucht. Unglaublich lang im Abgang ist er ein wahrer Grand Vin - ganz nach dem Vorbild der großen Gewächse aus Bordeaux ohne die Typizität und das Wilde Südfrankreich zu verstecken! Zwischen Steineichen und Zypressen inmitten unberührter Natur bietet die Region Minervois im urigen Süden Frankreichs alles, was man zum Erzeugen eines großen südfranzösischen Weins braucht. Von diesen Gegebeheiten überzeugt, schuf die Bordelaiser Winzer-Ikone Jean-Michel Cazes hier an den Hängen des Petit Causse ein Anwesen von insgesamt 150 ha, von denen 60 ha mit Wein und 25 ha mit Olivenbäumen bepflanzt sind. Jean-Michel Cazes sollte aufpassen, dass sein opulent fruchtiger und fein würziger Roter aus dem Languedoc nicht bald seinen weltberühmten Château Lynch Bages überflügelt!

    2018 Château Villa Bel Air Blanc Graves AOC
    Das Weingut Château Villa Bel-Air war lange in Vergessenheit geraten, bis es von Kultwinzer Jean-Michel Cazes und seiner Familie gekauft wurde. Seit 1988 hat er umfangreiche Umbauten im Keller und den Außenanlagen vorgenommen und die Weinfelder neu angelegt. Seitdem werden im Einklang mit dem Terroir auf Château Villa Bel-Air Weine erzeugt, die die typische Finesse und die Komplexität der Graves-Weine besitzen. Jean-Michel Cazes rüttelt mit seinem Château Villa Bel-Air Blanc gehörig an der Tradition, das Bordelais ausschließlich als Synonym für exzellente Rotweine und edelsüße Gewächse zu betrachten. Schon im Glas spielt der Weißwein seine ersten Trümpfe gekonnt aus. Das dichte, sehr schöne Grünstroh funkelt wunderschön und das elegante Bukett schickt seine exotisch fruchtigen Aromen von Grapefruit, Mango, Ananas und weißen Pfirsichen voraus. Am Gaumen ist er im Ansatz weich und ausgestattet mit verführerischen mineralischen Noten. Im Abgang zeigt er einen hübschen buttrigen Holzton, unterlegt von einem Hauch Vanille aus der 9-monatigen Barrique-Reife. Die Hefesatzlagerung gibt dem Wein zusätzlich Struktur, Volumen und Fülle.

    Château Haut-Batailley wird in diesem Jahr das erste Mal von dem neuen Besitzern um Jean-Michel Cazes kreiert. Und schon im ersten Jahr ist die Handschrift des Teams zu erkennen – eine Aufwertung und somit einer der Must-Haves des Jahrgangs 2017. Achtung, die Mengen sind sehr begrenzt! Decanter: 92/100 Punkte "The first year under the Cazes family, and we can expect big changes over the next few years with an extensive replanting programme planned. But for now, let's look at 2017, where production has been split 33% second wine and 66% grand vin, with no frost to hamper them. It's rich and deep, with a sense of forward motion and flexible tannins pushing the cassis fruit from start to finish, joined by focussed and lively brambled fruits and gentle cedar smoking. The austerity is clear, and it's a little lighter-framed than the Lynch Bages, and very different in personality, but it has real promise and I like it enormously.     Ein weiterer hoch interessanter Saint-Éstèphe in einer noch interessanteren Preisklasse! Unter der Regie von J. M. Cazes wird der Cru Bourgeois von Jahr zu Jahr immer besser. Da stört auch ein vergleichsweise schwieriges Jahr nicht! James Suckling: 92/100 Punkte "The density for the vintage is impressive with dark-berry and cherry character. Medium to full body, velvety tannins and a fresh and bright finish. Linear and driven."  Wine Spectator 88-91/100 Punkte "Open-knit, with a core of plum and cherry fruit carried by light cedar, tobacco and warm stone notes. Shows a light smoky echo at the end." Wine Enthusiast 93/100 Punkte  "Barrel Sample. This finely structured wine is balanced with nothing in excess offering attractive acidity and a light touch of tannin. It is fruity, bright and developing quickly. Drink from 2023." Decanter 92/100 Punkte "Ormes has managed another good vintage after a run of them. This is a lovely wine and a buy for me. Succulent, bristling and charming, it has juicy brambled fruit extraction and tension. It doesn't take itself too seriously, just asking to be loved. The fruit spectrum is rich with blueberries and damsons, with integrity and a swirl of vanilla bean oak. Includes 6% Cabernet Franc in the blend. No need to wait too long for this. 45% new oak. Drinking Window 2022 – 2035" Vinous (Neal Martin): 91-93/100 Punkte "The 2017 Les Ormes de Pez was matured in 45% new oak with 13.42% alcohol. None of the vines were touched by frost. Cropped at round 50hl/ha, it has a clean, pure red cherry, blackcurrant and cedar-scented bouquet, more Pauillac in style than Saint-Estèphe. The palate is well balanced with ripe tannin that feel more malleable than previous vintages at this stage, a little saline in the mouth with a silky smooth finish. This will be delicious over the next couple of decades and I suspect it will be more approachable than the 2016.
