Die beiden teilen neben Feuer und Hingabe auch eine ganze Reihe von Obsessionen und mindtrips- ihre unfassbar intensive Begegnung erforscht gründlich, wie weit sie musikalisch gehen können. Angelika Niescier braucht man dem deutschen Publikum eigentlich nicht mehr vorzustellen. Sie ist eine der Musikerinnen, die als Komponistin und Saxophonistin den europäischen Jazz weiterentwickeln und auf internationales Niveau bringen. Bedacht wurde sie u.a. mit dem Albert Mangelsdorff Preis, dem Echo Jazz, bereits zwei Mal mit dem Vierteljahrespreis der deutschen Schallplattenkritik, war Improviser in Residenz in Moers, um nur einige der vielen herausragenden Auszeichnungen zu nennen.Sie spielt u.a. mit Jazzgrössen wie Joachim Kühn, Gerald Cleaver, Nasheet Waits, Sylvie Courvoisier, Tyshawn Sorey, Achim Kaufmann und Gerry Hemingway und Kris Davis.Auch Aleander Hawkins ist als Komponist und Pianist dem hiesigen Publikum ebenfalls längst kein Unbekannter. Seine eigene, unverkennbare Klangwelt ist durch die Forschung bestimmt, sowohl seine Leidenschaft für die freie Improvisation als auch seine tiefe Faszination für Komposition und Struktur in Einklang zu bringen. Mit seinem Soloprogramm, oder in kollaborativen Ensembles mit Evan Parker, Tomeka Reid, Hamid Drake begeistert er seit Jahren Publikum und Kritik gleichermassen.
