A Knight in Central Park , Hörbuch, Digital, ungekürzt, 553min
The year is 1499. As Alexandra Dunn’s farmhouse is set ablaze, her grandfather places precious stones in her palm, telling her she has until the next full moon to return with a hero ... a brave, chivalrous knight to help save her family. Familiar objects become a blur as she is swallowed in darkness. Suddenly Alexandra is standing in the middle of Central Park, but she has no time to ponder on the wondrous powers of the stones or the amazing sights before her ... she must find a hero before all is lost. Joe McFarland would be the first to admit that he’s far from hero material … definitely not the man she’s looking for. A firm believer in quietude and non-violence, he avoids conflict at all costs. At 34, he is one of the younger Professors at NYU where he lectures and teaches History: The High Middle Ages. Joe’s organized, well-structured life begins to unravel the moment he meets Alexandra Dunn. He figures she majored in medieval history before going off the deep end … until days later when he is miraculously transported through time, to 1499 England. Dressed in Dockers and a button-down shirt, Joe thought he was ready for anything ... anything but this! An armored man with a very authentic looking broadsword is about to strike him down. With only nail clippers and a Bic to defend himself, Joe has no time to think about such an implausible phenomenon as traveling through time … not if he wants to live to see another day. ungekürzt. Sam Harris: A Biography , Hörbuch, Digital, ungekürzt, 39min
Sam Harris was born Samuel Benjamin Harris on April 9, 1967, in Los Angeles, California. He was born to parents Susan Spivak and Berkeley Harris. His father, Berkeley, was an actor. He appeared in a variety of television and film genres but mostly specialized in Westerns. His most notable film was the 1965 Civil War drama, Shenandoah, which starred Jimmy Stewart. Harris' mother, Susan, worked behind the scenes in television and created a number of shows, including some that became iconic, like The Golden Girls. The Harris' divorced after four years of marriage, when Sam Harris was two years old, and after that, he lived with his mother. As for his early religious education, he had none. His father had a Quaker background, and his mother was Jewish but apparently never practiced. He has described his upbringing as secular. It is unknown where exactly he attended high school, although he has mentioned multiple times that he was the valedictorian. However, because he was afraid of public speaking, he declined to give the traditional valedictory at graduation. Instead, he lied to the principal, saying that he thought that someone who had been at the school longer should give the speech. After high school, he went on to Stanford University, where he originally majored in English. However, while at Stanford, he experimented with MDMA, the psychedelic drug more commonly known as ecstasy. His experiences with the drug led him to question experiences and beliefs in his life, specifically those that involved philosophy and religion. He believed that he was having spiritual experiences while on ecstasy and other psychedelics, which led him to wonder if he could have the same kind of experiences while sober. To find out, he left Stanford. ungekürzt. Language: English. Narrator: Kevin Theis. Audio sample: https://samples.audible.de/bk/acx0/112342/bk_acx0_112342_sample.mp3. Joy to the World
Kerry was born and raised in Bloomington, Minnesota. Her parents provided her with lessons at the age of six and quickly discovered how much she loved to play the piano! Growing up, Kerry volunteered and performed around the Twin Cities and realized that playing the piano was what she was meant to do with her future. Kerry attended the University of Northern Iowa (UNI) where she majored in Piano and minored in Business. Since graduating, Kerry has performed and instructed piano for eleven years. In 2004 Kerry was asked to participate in an art exhibit for Easter. She composed a piano solo piece for this and enjoyed the process with all the frustrations and rewards so much that she began arranging other pieces. She has spent countless hours arranging, practicing, and working to get each song just right. She chose Christmas for her theme as it is her favorite time of the year. She loves all the seasons in Minnesota but especially looks forward to the great joy and happiness that comes with the holiday season. 'Joy to the World' is Kerry's first CD and it will fill your home with Christmas spirit. It has 12 wonderful Christmas songs arranged by Kerry in a unique and very special way. God Who Sees Me
A long overdue music collection by a woman songwriter, about women, for women of faith everywhere! (The men like it too!!) The central message is His love and recognition of her from women like Hagar, of old, and into the present. Every song will take you further on a journey of women in the church, along with some beautiful Psalm songs and a few ancient hymns put to new music. Brett Kull, with credits of over fifteen cds to his name, enhances the music with his dynamic guitar and bass playing. Deb Capece has been writing for well over fifteen years in various genres including music for the church-praise, choral, experiential songs (that come from of her own life), musicals, love songs and instrumental concert music. She is a published composer and has taught music privately for many years. Ms. Capece majored in music and graduated summa cum laude from Kutztown University's music program and has appeared in various venues singing everything from CCM to show tunes and jazz. The God Who Sees Me is her third CD and begins with the theme song of the album, Hagar's Cry, which has an eclectic Morocan flavor, focusing on the plight of women who have been left alone, 'Her bed, it has one pillow, her cat it takes his place . . . ' Definitely not mainstream. The album also includes the well known Prayer of St. Francis, put to a new tune. Cantus is a hauntingly beautiful Celtic piece that is a medley of songs/poems from the middle ages with beautiful harmonies and piano and string arrangements. Her experiential pieces on the CD describe her sense of God's presence and inclusion of her in his plan for his church and world. In Abba, Father she sees him as a child sees his daddy, a loving father who loves her 'where she is,' regardless of what is transpiring in her life. He delights himself in drawing her close to him and reminding her who she is in Christ. In the song Whole Again she resonates with Lazarus, as Jesus calls him from his tomb, and promises her new life, too, loving her 'like a son.' Her psalm songs are beautiful renditions of the beloved Psalms, 121, 27 and 23. Mary is an upbeat piece that centers on our Lord's mother and her attributes. The collection ends with a wonderful love song to her husband and finally The Mist, which brings the songs full circle, as she ends the piece in a chant like section naming women throughout history to the present who have made a difference in the world. This is a very moving song that you will want to hear over and over again, worth the price of the entire album. This is not your typical P&W or cover song album. These are original, rich melodies and poignant lyrics that will leave you thinking and touched by their depth. If you've ever been disappointed by CCM, try again and be pleasantly surprised and uplifted by Deb's new release, The God Who Sees Me.- Shop: odax
