In this program, Adrian Gilbert delves deeper than ever in order to penetrate the mystery of medieval alchemy. Going beyond psychology, he explores how the alchemists used diagrams and traditional nomenclatures to discuss ideas that, had they been expressed openly at the time, would have invited persecution, and maybe even burning at the stake. These ideas of self-transformation throw light on the work of such influential, modern teachers as G.I. Gurdjieff and P.D. Ouspensky. Alchemy, it turns out, is the missing fragment of their "unknown teaching". Featuring renowned author and researcher Adrian Gilbert in this ongoing series of occult and esoteric knowledge.

What if Pinocchio and Jesus are the same? What if all that you know about Shakespeare is wrong? Is being blind and rich worth it?Is the world run by a satanic mouse cult? What is the secret link between the Grimm brothers and Nazism? This book will change your life...provided you listen to it. Why? It shall show you how humour can adopt the most bizarre shapes ever, whilst in the process helping your mind to look at the world in the most original ways. Interwoven with pearls of mystical-esoteric-alchemical wisdom, this book is an homage to the meta-loving mind, creating worlds within worlds with a common thread: humor and an irreverent attitude with the pedantic and intellectual approach to life and the universe.Like someone once never said: This is like Borges on acid. Or Rumi on nothing.A tour-de-force through the magical delirious realism that only a naturally perturbed mind can conjure. And a listen that will perfectly suit those who love to have their brains (and spirits) tickled.A smoothie made with the best (and the worst) of: Gurdjieff, Borges, Shakespeare, Brothers Grimm, Wilde, Shaw, Monty Python, Community, David Foster Wallace, Rumi, Hafiz, Sedaris, Chappelle, Lynch, Ouspensky, Bennett, Frost…and many more. ungekürzt. A new audio edition of the groundbreaking spiritual treasure, with a foreword by best-selling author Marianne Williamson.Since its original publication in 1949, P. D. Ouspensky’s In Search of the Miraculous has been hailed as the most valuable and reliable documentation of G. I. Gurdjieff's thoughts and universal view. This historic and influential work is considered by many to be a primer of mystical thought as expressed through the work, a combination of Eastern philosophies that had for centuries been passed on orally from teacher to student. Gurdjieff's goal was to introduce the work to the West, and Ouspensky, an established mathematician, journalist, and already the author of Strange Life of Ivan Osokin, Tertium Organum, and A New Model of the Universe, was the ideal colleague to do it.Ouspensky describes Gurdjieff's teachings in fascinating and accessible detail, providing what has proven to be a stellar introduction to the universal view of both men. In Search of the Miraculous has inspired great thinkers and writers of ensuing spiritual movements, including Marianne Williamson, the highly acclaimed author of A Return to Love and Illuminata. In a new foreword, Williamson shares the influence of Ouspensky's book and Gurdjieff's teachings on the New Thought movement and her own life, providing a contemporary look at a timeless classic. In Search of the Miraculous is deftly narrated by Mike Fraser. All visual elements referenced in this audiobook are included in the supplementary PDF.PLEASE NOTE: When you purchase this title, the accompanying PDF will be available in your Audible Library along with the audio. ungekürzt. For the last four centuries, science has tried to account for everything in terms of atoms and molecules and the physical laws they adhere to. Recently, this effort was extended to try to include the inner world of human beings. Gary Lachman argues that this view of consciousness is misguided and unfounded. He points to another approach to the study and exploration of consciousness that erupted into public awareness in the late 1800s. In A Secret History of Consciousness, consciousness is seen not as a result of neurons and molecules, but as responsible for them - meaning, it is not imported from the outer world, but rather creates it. In this view, consciousness is a living, evolving presence, the development of which can be traced through different historical periods, and which evolves along a path to a broader, more expansive state. What that consciousness may be like and how it may be achieved is a major concern of this book.Lachman concentrates on the period since the late 1800s, when Madame Blavatsky first brought the secret history out into the open. As this history unfolds, we encounter the ideas of many modern thinkers, from esotericists like P. D. Ouspensky, Rudolf Steiner, and Colin Wilson to more mainstream philosophers like Henri Bergson, William James, Owen Barfield, and the psychologist Andreas Mavromatis. Two little known but important thinkers play a major role in his synthesis: Jurij Moskvitin, who showed how our consciousness relates to the mechanisms of perception and to the external world and Jean Gebser, who presented, perhaps, the most impressive case for the evolution of consciousness. An important contribution to the study of consciousness and a a must-listen. The chapters in the audiobook include:Foreword by Colin Wilson Introduction: Consciousness Explained The Search for Cosmic Consciousness Esoteric Evolution The Archaeology of Consciousn ungekürzt.
