Streichquartette/violinsonate
Simon Crawford-Phillips (Piano) // Both quartets dazzled and disturbed at their first performances. Debussy's fantastic, spiralling variations, resisting orthodox 'development' of ideas, is described as reminiscent of Monet's in recording the variations of light on the façade of Rouen Cathedral. Ravel's Quartet is to some extent a homage to Debussy, but, typically, also a work of startling originality.- Shop: odax

Playing with Color: Music from Argentina & Brazil
BeloSom, the vibrant four-hand piano duo, was formed by Brazilian pianist Patricia Guadagnoli and American pianist and conductor Lee Hagon in 2012. "Belo som", meaning "beautiful sound" in Portuguese, reflects the goal of the pianists to share beautiful music from all over the world and from many different time periods, using the vast array of sounds available through the versatility of the piano. BeloSom has played much of the well-loved four-hand piano literature, including Ravel's "Mother Goose Suite", Rachmaninoff's Suite for four hands, Brahms' Hungarian Dances, Dvorak's Slavonic Dances, Liszt's "Mephisto" waltzes and Hungarian Dances for four hands, works by Poulenc and Saint-Saens, Mozart sonatas, and everything in between. While BeloSom's roots are in the classical tradition, Patricia and Lee share a passion for the music of Latin cultures. In addition to playing varied and virtuosic classical, romantic and modern four-hand piano repertoire, the duo also explores lesser known works by composers from Latin countries, particularly Argentina, Portugal, Brazil, Spain, Italy, and Cuba. Patricia and Lee also create their own four hand arrangements to fuse the character of Latin genres with their classical style, while also utilizing more modern, inside-piano techniques. Patricia and Lee are available for commissions, or to create an arrangement of your composition, or a specific piece you would like arranged for four hands. Please get in touch with us on the contact page to get more information. BeloSom is incredibly excited to have recorded their first album in August, 2013, which features pieces from Argentina and Brazil, including their own arrangements of three Piazzolla tangos, his Tango Suite originally for two guitars, a Tango by the Brazilian composer Ronaldo Miranda, and Villa-Lobos' "A folia de um bloco infantil" from the Children's Carnival. BeloSom is available for bookings at a wide variety of concert venues, from school auditoriums, churches, and formal concert halls, to private musical soirées in your home, BeloSom is sure to bring a smile to your face, a song in your heart, and a rhythm to your spirit. The pianists' ability to have fun during performance is infectious to audiences, and they hope to bring the joy of diversity and the love of music to all who listen to the beautiful sounds of BeloSom. Lee Hagon received a performance certificate from Trinity College of Music, London in 2003 and a Bachelors of Music from Westminster Choir College, Princeton in 2006 where she performed under world-renowned maestros including Lorin Maazel, Charles Dutoit, Joseph Flummerfelt and Anton Armstrong, among others.
