When the Wind Falls: The Song of the Ferryman, Book 2 , Hörbuch, Digital, ungekürzt, 565min
Book two of the epic saga set at the time of Caesar's conquest of Gaul continues with Ferryman and Devin struggling to finish the repairs of their boat, and in the tales themselves, as the Veneti contend with the aftermath of their battle against the Curiosolites. It seems as if the warriors of the Fiarmar, with the help of the stranger Dorhos the Atrebatian, have won a hard-fought peace against their neighbours. But Caesar is coming, and Harn and Brighid and the Veneti find themselves drawn into the coming conflict through their friendships and loyalties, a conflict that will test their courage and resolve to the limits of their endurance. Owing as much to Asterix and Obelix as to Irish mytholgy, When The Wind Falls concludes as the net of soldiers closes about Ferryman and Devin, when all may be won or all may be lost in a shattering confrontation on the seas off Armorica. ungekürzt. The Seeds of the Storm: The Song of the Ferryman, Book 1 , Hörbuch, Digital, ungekürzt, 708min
Told by the stranger Ferryman, the tales follow the fortunes of a family destined to live through that most terrible of times, the rise of one civilization and the fall of another. Before Rome became an empire, Caesar looked north, to the Gauls, eying their lands and wealth hungrily. Book One tells of the events leading up to his first campaigns from the viewpoint of the ancient Celtic tribes, notably the Veneti of the northwestern Atlantic coasts, and their leaders at that time, Vercingetorix, Cassivellaunus, Ambiorix, and lastly, the most enigmatic of all, Commius. It begins with the escape of the slave, Gallin, from the destruction of Spartacus and his journey home to his ancestral lands. But it is long before he finds his place within his tribe again; warrior, uncle, merchant, from him the tales pass to his niece and nephew, and the tribal warfare that sweeps them up. Just when peace seems to have been established, Caesar begins to march and the Veneti are threatened on the very coasts they call home. With an epic sweep that owes as much to Asterix and Obelix as it does to ancient Irish mythology, The Seeds of the Storm begins a cycle of stories that will range from Britain to France and Belgium, to Rome itself, told by the mysterious Ferryman who may be more than he seems. ungekürzt. The Gallic War , Hörbuch, Digital, ungekürzt, 621min
The Gallic War is Julius Caesar's autobiographical diary of the wars in what is now France, Belgium, and parts of Britain, Germany, and Switzerland, in which he describes the battles that took place from 58 to 51 BCE when he fought the Germanic and Celtic peoples that opposed Roman conquest. Modern-day Provence and Languedoc-Roussillon were already under Roman control, so Caesar’s Gaul referred to the regions that the Romans had not yet conquered. The book comprises seven parts and chronicles the wars against the Helvetii, Belgae, Britons, Eburones, Suebi, Veneti, among others. At the end, Gaul was a Roman Province with the Rhine as eastern frontier. The work contains descriptions of the tribes and geography of the region, although Caesar made some errors in his geographic descriptions. Caesar wrote The Gallic War as a third-person narrative and the Latin work has served as an ideal textbook for generations of students of the language. ungekürzt. Language: English. Venedig 700-1700
Jahrhunderts?- Shop: buecher

Northern Italy's Wine Country: Prosecco, Soave, Bardolino, Valpolicella & Beyond , Hörbuch, Digital, ungekürzt, 280min
The Veneto region offers travelers all manner of adventures. This audiobook focuses on exploring the Veneto's wine zones while highlighting cultural adventures, sports adventures, adventures for the soul, family adventures, driving adventures, and many other types of activities to help you discover more about the land. Writers, painters, historians, and philosophers have long been inspired by the dramatic landscapes of the Veneto Region and, by translating astute observations on canvas or in print, have captured the beauty of a land and a people that have evolved over many centuries. Situated in Italy's northernmost zone, few other regions boast such diverse landscapes. From the low sandy coastline where the Veneto meets the Adriatic Sea, to the mighty Alpine peaks, rolling hills, thermal springs, and lagoon systems, the varied landscape makes for lively getaways any season of the year. Veneto, a name that derives from Veneti, a pre-Roman people who once inhabited the area, is divided into seven provinces: Belluno, Padua, Rovigo, Treviso, Venice, Verona, and Vicenza. During Venice's golden age, aristocrats brought their wealth to the Veneto countryside and commissioned architects to build agricultural estates and country homes. Today, more than 4,000 villas remind us of that period, the most famous of which were designed by 16th century architect Andrea Palladio. This guide tells you about the wine-growing regions, especially: the Euganean Hills, Prosecco, Soave, Cistoza, Bardolino, Valpolicella, Bassano del Grappa - how to visit the vineyards, taste the wines, trying the best restaurants, and the best places to stay in each region. All of the details you need to know are here so your trip will be unforgettable. ungekürzt. Language: English. Narrator: Chris Andrew Ciulla.
