As a sequel to Hal Crook's text "How to Improvise", "How to Comp" offers precise explanations, practical exercises, recorded musical examples, four play-along tracks, and daily practice routines.   Soundtrack

  Jazz trumpeter, composer and author Jeremy Pelt has certainly never shied away from themed albums so one might expect something cinematic from the enigmatically-titled Soundtrack. However, as Pelt himself explains, "Ive certainly done plenty of concept albums, but in this case theres nothing Im on a soapbox about. Its been a tough time for all of us, so lets not worry about sending messages for a minute. Here we are, playing some songs and having some fun. Having fun the band may be but along the way they make some compelling jazz weaving a beguiling tapestry of kaleidoscopic colors with Pelts sultry and communicative trumpet to the fore surrounded by Chien Chien Lus hypnotic vibraphone and pianist Victor Goulds subtle splashes of the Fender Rhodes.The inclusion of Brittany Anjou on Moog synthesizer and the rarely-heard Mellotron may imply a real electronica aspect present on the recording but, quite to the contrary, Pelt uses them sparingly and incorporates them brilliantly into the groups tonal palette. Their appearance does occasionally bring a certain 70s independent jazz vibe to the proceedings but they far from define the sound of the group. Anne Drummonds silvery flute on two tracks adds yet another dimension to the already wide spectrum of colors on this latest album in the discography of the sometimes surprising but always inspired Jeremy Pelt

  Das Licht Dieser Welt

  Sieben Jahre mussten wir warten. Nach dem Debütalbum "Gisbert zu Knyphausen" (VÖ 2008) und "Hurra! Hurra! So Nicht." (VÖ 2010 / Platz 12 der Media Control Charts) nahm Gisbert zusammen mit dem Hamburger Liedermacher Nils Koppruch neue Songs auf. Die beiden gründeten die Band "Kid Kopphausen" und veröffentlichten 2012 das Album "I". Nach Nils' plötzlichem Tod machte Gisbert zu Knyphausen eine Pause. Danach begab er sich mit der Kid-Kopphausen Band auf eine ausgedehnte Tour, reiste viel, spielte Bass bei Olli Schulz und nahm mit dem Produzenten Moses Schneider und dem Musiker Der dünne Mann unter dem Namen "Husten" eine EP auf. Und jetzt gibt es endlich neue Songs! Bereits Anfang des Jahres veröffentlichte Gisbert zu Knyphausen "Das Licht dieser Welt", einen Song, den er für den Kinofilm "Timm Thaler oder das verkaufte Lachen" von Andreas Dresen geschrieben hat. Musikalisch hat sich einiges geändert: Die Musik ist offener geworden, vielseitiger. Gisbert zu Knyphausen hat neue Musiker um sich geschart und das Korsett des Liedermachers vollends gesprengt, es sind weniger Gitarren zu hören, dafür Vibraphone, Posaunen, Trompeten, Synthesizer und ein Klavier. Produziert hat das Album Jean-Michel Tourette (Wir Sind Helden), wobei Gisbert zu Knyphausen und Florian Eilers als Co-Produzenten tätig waren.Textlich berührt er die Menschen, wie kein anderer. Er geht nie in die Breite, sondern immer in die Tiefe, mitten rein in das Wesen der Dinge. Er hat eine Sprache gefunden für das, was wir fühlen, aber so schwer greifen können. Er schraubt einem das Herz auf und den Kopf, gibt keine Auswege oder billige Ratschläge, sondern etwas viel Wertvolleres: Erkennen und Erkenntnis.
