Here I Am
"Thank you for sharing your beautiful voice with us" is something Megan McGovern has heard many times throughout her life. Whether performing in school musicals and plays at the tender age of 8 or singing in the Praise team at church as a teenager, Megan has had the ability to make a special connection with her audience. It is a rare privilege to experience someone who has the gift of drawing you into their world with such a pure voice filled with deep seated emotion. Her first CD project, "Here I Am", is filled with songs that everyone can relate to. From light, upbeat songs like "Everything's Goin My Way" to inspirational ballads like "In Another Life ", Megan leads her audience through a wide range of emotions. People don't just hear the songs, they feel them! Perhaps the greatest compliment Megan receives on a regular basis is that her voice has the same beautiful sound live as it does on her recordings. Reguarding her CD, many fans have stated they have not been able to pick just one favorite song from the project. That's fine with Megan. In her words, "I want to share my passion of music with the world". With a growing fan base in several countries she is well on her way to accomplishing her goal. The statement "To know her is to love her" definitely applies to Megan. Whether it is a first time listener at a concert or a professional at work the results are the same. Megan began developing a strong local fan base after performing "Never Forget" at a September,11 memorial service in her home town. Many in the audience were deeply moved and became loyal followers. Some months later, during her first live radio interview, Megan was asked several times if she could stay longer than originally planned. The segment, which was initially to be 10 -15 minutes ran for some 40 plus minutes. The atmosphere was not one of questions and answers but rather one of friends or family enjoying each other's company. Since that first interview, appearance requests have been flooding in. One of the earliest opportunities was an invitation to sing the National Anthem for the opening game of a local minor league baseball team. Megan performed her acappella rendition to a thrilled sold out crowd. Dozens of people expressed their gratitude to Megan for her performance. Words like emotional, moving and goose bumps were used to describe the feelings of the audience. With Megan's increasingly busy schedule there will be adjustments and changes to come. One thing that will not change is her devotion to her family, friends and fans. Megan's love for and enjoyment of people is one of her defining characteristics. In a frenetic world it is refreshing to find an artist who truly enjoys visiting with her fans. Children hold a special place in her heart. At 20 years of age Megan can easily remember the magic of childhood. She finds no greater pleasure than spending time talking to or taking pictures with her youngest fans. How do you convey the true essence of someone in a few paragraphs? I don't know that it's possible. I do believe however, that if you will take the time to listen to Megan's music, you will understand that she is a truly gifted young woman.
