You Might Remember Me: The Life and Times of Phil Hartman , Hörbuch, Digital, ungekürzt, 575min
Beloved TV comedic actor Phil Hartman is best known for his eight brilliant seasons on Saturday Night Live, where his versatility and comedic timing resulted in some of the funniest and most famous sketches in the television show's history. Besides his hilarious impersonations of Phil Donahue, Frank Sinatra and Bill Clinton, Hartman's other indelible characters included Cirroc the Unfrozen Caveman Lawyer, Eugene the Anal Retentive Chef and, of course, Frankenstein. He also starred as pompous radio broadcaster Bill McNeal in the NBC sitcom NewsRadio and voiced numerous classic roles - most memorably washed-up actor and commercial pitchman Troy McClure - on Fox's long-running animated hit The Simpsons. But Hartman's seemingly charmed life was cut tragically short when he was fatally shot by his troubled third wife, Brynn, who turned a gun on herself several hours later. The shocking and headline-generating turn of events stunned those closest to the couple as well as countless fans who knew Phil only from afar. Now, for the first time ever, the years and moments leading up to his untimely end are described in illuminating detail through information gleaned from exclusive interviews with scores of famous cast mates, close friends and family members as well as private letters, audio/video recordings, extensive police records, and more. Both joyous tribute and serious biography, Mike Thomas' You Might Remember Me is a celebration of Phil Hartman's multi-faceted career and an exhaustively reported, warts-and-all examination of his often intriguing and sometimes complicated life - a powerful, humor-filled and disquieting portrait of a man who was loved by many, admired by millions and taken from them far too early. ungekürzt. The Saboteur: The Aristocrat Who Became France's Most Daring Anti-Nazi Commando , Hörbuch, Digital, ungekürzt, 434min
In the tradition of Agent Zigzag comes this breathtaking biography, as fast-paced and emotionally intuitive as the very best spy thrillers, which illuminates an unsung hero of the French Resistance during World War II - Robert de La Rochefoucald, an aristocrat turned anti-Nazi saboteur - and his daring exploits as a résistant trained by Britain's Special Operations Executive. A scion of one of the most storied families in France, Robert de La Rochefoucald was raised in magnificent chateaux and educated in Europe's finest schools. When the Nazis invaded and imprisoned his father, La Rochefoucald escaped to England and learned the dark arts of anarchy and combat - cracking safes and planting bombs and killing with his bare hands - from the officers of Special Operations Executive, the collection of British spies, beloved by Winston Churchill, who altered the war in Europe with tactics that earned it notoriety as the "Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare". With his newfound skills, La Rochefoucauld returned to France and organized Resistance cells, blew up fortified compounds and munitions factories, interfered with the Germans' wartime missions, and executed Nazi officers. Caught by the Germans, La Rochefoucald withstood months of torture without cracking and escaped his own death - not once but twice. The Saboteur recounts La Rochefoucauld's enthralling adventures, from jumping from a moving truck on his way to his execution to stealing Nazi limos to dressing up in a nun's habit - one of his many disguises and impersonations. Whatever the mission, whatever the dire circumstance, La Rochefoucauld acquitted himself nobly, with the straight-back aplomb of a man of aristocratic breeding: James Bond before Ian Fleming conjured him. More than just a fast-paced, true thriller, The Saboteur is also a deep dive into an endlessly fascinating historical moment, telling the untold story of a network of commandos that battled ungekürzt. That Ginger's Crazy
When redheaded comedian Darren Carter, saw the infamous "Kick a Ginger" episode on "South Park," he had to smile. For the uninitiated, "Ginger" is the British nickname for redheads. In the "South Park" episode grammar school student Cartman leads a campaign against redheads who he says "are disgusting, inhuman, inherently dumb, have no souls, and are unable to survive in sunlight." Carter thought the episode was hilarious - a brilliant parody of the idiocy of racism and prejudice. But the comedian, who was raised in Fresno and attended Roosevelt High School, did have some reservations. "If I was a kid in junior high, I don't think I would have thought it was that funny, though," Carter said. "I was pretty much harassed by the kids because of my red hair and freckles. And the idea of kids being encouraged to kick gingers made me shudder." Carter was pleased, though, when he heard about the anti-"South Park" campaign "Hug a Ginger," in reaction to school yard incidents in which redheads were, well, kicked. "For a ginger, it was heartwarming to see the backlash," he said. "I can't tell you how many times I was called Opie growing up." That childhood experience, though, led Carter to a virtual gold mine of comic material. His act is full of impersonations, social commentary and observational comedy inspired, at least in part, by creating coping mechanisms in dealing with his childhood tormentors. He has performed on "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno," several Comedy Central specials and had a small part in 2005's "Be Cool." The whole "South Park" episode also inspired him to title his latest CD "That Ginger's Crazy," a play on Richard Pryor's ground-breaking comedy album that infamously used a racial epithet in it's title. This Comedy CD is a hilarious non-stop representation of what it's like being at a live comedy show watching Darren Carter. The perfect gift for comedy fans!- Shop: odax
