The nation's top "Obamacare" insurance agent, Robert Welk, has authored Maximizing Obamacare to help you finally understand exactly what you need to do to avoid the vast majority of problems people experienced during open enrollment. The need for this audiobook is underscored by a recent revelation from the federal government that almost one-fourth of those enrolled have incorrectly reported their income. The government is so concerned they have hired a third party to find those enrollees so that the situation can be corrected immediately! If you would like to minimize the stress of the last open enrollment, understand how to maximize the subsidies retroactively, and avoid having to pay back large amounts of money, then this is the step-by-step explanation you have been looking for. Unlike most audiobooks on the subject, this audiobook is written for the consumer as a user's guide. Robert Welk is someone who has had so much success in helping clients overcome the challenges and maximize the benefits of the Affordable Care Act, that he was recognized in a televised award ceremony with the state's governor and one of the authors of the legislation. Do yourself a favor and put the philosophical and partisan arguments aside for a moment, so that you can begin to understand how to make the mechanics of this complex law work in your favor. ungekürzt. Richard H. Bliese draws on historic architecture of eight-sided churches to call attention to an important but often overlooked emphasis on the eighth day of creation. Early Christians were focused on God's new creation that began in Christ's resurrection on Sunday, the first day of the week. But these Christians understood resurrection as the continuation of God's creative and redemptive activity. So the first day of the week became the eighth day of creation, and therefore the day of resurrection work and time to join with Christ in transforming the world. Christian disciples do this work by living out their baptismal vocations, especially in their daily work and through their ethical economic choices. The author turns to Martin Luther and the Reformation to outline an evangelical spirituality that invested in people and their vocations as worker-priests. Daily life, work, and family were underscored as the place where discipleship came alive. Bliese describes this as an architectural "design" for faithful living. He further draws on parts of Luther's Small Catechism (Ten Commandments, Apostles' Creed, and Lord's Prayer) as keys to this evangelical design. Five additional architectural designs for eighth-day disciples are included. The final chapter describes how eighth-day disciples are called to live by faith in freedom and responsibility. Making disciples today needs to revolve around a gospel story that links one's personal faith with one's work and economic life. Such faith gives us ears to hear God's unfolding drama and eyes to see the needs of the neighbor. The book includes a study guide for personal reflection and group conversation.

A pack of men in sharp, tailored suits and dark sunglasses strut down the street. Their eyes are shielded, but the icy scowl on their faces is a clear sign to stay out of their paths. A few of their collars hang open, showing off a glimpse of the vibrant and intricate ink work on their chests, and presumably, their entire bodies.Tattoos are the norm these days, but then, one suddenly spots a man with a peculiarly pint-sized pinkie. Perhaps it is only a deformity, but upon a closer look, it appears that the entire upper half has been sliced cleanly off, almost as if it were done intentionally.Since the beginning of civilization, crime and injustice has existed. At the same time, gangs in all shapes and sizes have been around - from rebels, dissidents, and rogue soldiers to the average circle of miscreants loitering in alleys and behind convenience stores. In Japan, a gang of a different breed would arise - one underscored by honor, respect, family, and a code of ethics. They are the Yakuza. From running guns to white-collar crimes in cyberspace and illegal seafood, the Triads - the mafia of China - are potent figures in the world of organized crime. Going by enigmatic names like the 14K Triad and the United Bamboo Gang, these criminal groups are enormous, with some organizations boosting memberships ranging in the tens of thousands. A powerful factor in China and throughout Asia, Triads are entrenched in society and the masters of multiple enterprises ranging from extortion, narcotics, prostitution, and white collar crime. ungekürzt. Distinguished authors like Daniel Kahneman, Dan Ariely, and Nassim Nicholas Taleb have written much about the flaws in the human brain when it comes time to make a decision. Our intuitions and passions frequently fail us, leading to outcomes we don't want. In this audiobook, Eyal Winter, Professor of Economics and Director of the Center for the Study of Rationality at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, wonders: why? If our emotions are so destructive and unreliable, why has evolution left us with them? The answer is that, even though they may not behave in a purely logical manner, our emotions frequently lead us to better, safer, more optimal outcomes. In fact, as Winter discovers, there is often logic in emotion, and emotion in logic. For instance, many mutually beneficial commitments - such as marriage, or being a member of a team - are only possible when underscored by emotion rather than deliberate thought. The difference between pleasurable music and bad noise is mathematically precise; yet it is also the result of evolution. And our inherent overconfidence - the mathematically impossible fact that most people see themselves as above average - affords us advantages in competing for things we benefit from, like food and money and romance. Other subjects illuminated in the book include the rationality of seemingly illogical feelings like trust, anger, shame, ego, and generosity. Already a best-seller in Israel, Feeling Smart brings together game theory, evolution, and behavioral science to produce a surprising and very persuasive defense of how we think, even when we don't. ungekürzt. The fact that these men were wearing the uniform of the United States Navy made no difference. (Steve Sheinkin, The Port Chicago 50: Disaster, Mutiny, and the Fight for Civil Rights) In World War II, hundreds of thousands of American soldiers were killed across the world, whether in Japanese jungles, North African deserts, or European beaches. Given that backdrop and the sheer magnitude of the war, people understandably became desensitized to incidents and tragedies that cost hundreds of lives. This was undoubtedly the case with the notorious Port Chicago disaster, a munitions explosion in July 1944 that killed over 300 people and injured over 300 more, many of them navy sailors. Since the explosion took place just a little over a month after D-Day, not to mention the fact that a majority of the casualties were African American, little attention was paid to the tragedy. Among those who did, some believed the men had not been trained well enough while others said they were being pushed by their officers to race each other in work that should have been done slowly and carefully. The only thing everyone could agree on was that something went very wrong. If anything, the episode not only underscored the navy's segregation policies but also demonstrated just how pervasive racism was at the time. The disaster was so deadly that 15 percent of all African American naval casualties in the war occurred on and around the dock in California that day, and while many appreciated the work the soldiers did, others denigrated their efforts. ungekürzt. Africa may have given rise to the first human beings, and Egypt probably gave rise to the first great civilizations, which continue to fascinate modern societies across the globe nearly 5,000 years later.  From the Library and Lighthouse of Alexandria to the Great Pyramid at Giza, the ancient Egyptians produced several wonders of the world, revolutionized architecture and construction, created some of the world’s first systems of mathematics and medicine, and established language and art that spread across the known world. With world-famous leaders like King Tut and Cleopatra, it’s no wonder that today’s world has so many Egyptologists.   Given the abundance of funerary artifacts that have been found within the sands of Egypt, it sometimes seems as though the ancient Egyptians were more concerned with the matters of the afterlife than they were with matters of the life they experienced from day to day. This is underscored most prominently by the pyramids, which have captured the world’s imagination for centuries.  The pyramids of Egypt are such recognizable symbols of antiquity that for millennia, people have made assumptions about what they are and why they exist, without full consideration of the various meanings these ancient symbolic structures have had over the centuries. Generations have viewed them as symbols of a lost past, which in turn is often portrayed as a world full of romance and mystery. This verbal meaning has become associated with the structures through the tourism industry, where intrigue obviously boosts ticket sales. In fact, the Egyptian pyramids are so old that they were also drawing tourists even in ancient times. In antiquity, the Great Pyramid of Giza was listed as one of Seven Ancient Wonders of the World, and it is the only one still surviving today.   ungekürzt. Language: English. Narrator: Colin Fluxman. Strong leaders understand that action cures indecision. - Toyotomi Hideyoshi, 16th century samurai A pack of men in sharp, tailored suits and dark sunglasses strut down the street. A few of their collars hang open, showing off a glimpse of the vibrant and intricate ink work on their chests, and presumably, their entire bodies. While they may lean towards the other side of the law, justice is all they truly aim for. After all, for a time, these tattoo-covered "thugs" have even been praised by the public. On the other hand, most are quick to say otherwise. Either way, the Yakuza is a nefarious network of stone-faced, theatrically tattooed families, with descendants that continue to make even the most seasoned of authorities quake in their shoes. ungekürzt. On a freezing night in January 2013, an assailant hurled acid in the face of the artistic director of the Bolshoi Ballet, Sergei Filin. The crime, organised by a lead soloist, dragged one of Russia's most illustrious institutions into scandal. Under Vladimir Putin, the Bolshoi Theatre has been called on to preserve Russia's lengthy artistic legacy and to mirror its neo-imperial ambitions. As renowned musicologist Simon Morrison shows in his tour de force account, the attack and its torrid aftermath underscored the importance of the Bolshoi to the art of ballet, to Russia, and to the world. With exclusive access to state archives and private sources, Morrison sweeps us through the history of the ballet, tracing the political ties that bind the institution to the varying Russian regimes and detailing the birth of some of the best-loved ballets in the repertoire. From its disreputable beginnings in 1776, the Bolshoi became a point of pride for the tsarist empire after the defeat of Napoleon in 1812. After the revolution Moscow was transformed into a global capital; meetings of the Communist Party were hosted at the Bolshoi, and the Soviet Union was signed into existence on its stage. Recently, a £450 million restoration has returned the Bolshoi to its former glory, even as prized talent has departed. The theatre has been bombed, rigged with explosives and reinforced with cement. Its dancers have suffered unimaginable physical torment to climb the ranks. But, as Morrison reveals, the Bolshoi has transcended its own fraught history, surviving 250 years of artistic and political upheaval to define not only Russian culture but also ballet itself. ungekürzt. Mind Gym: The Ultimate Guide for Beginners takes a nod from leading sports psychologist Gary Mack's revolutionary idea of a "mind gym", and teaches the concepts he developed and wrote about in a simple and easy to digest way. This book is a must-hear for anybody aiming to be something bigger than what they are. Through stressing the importance of confidence, motivation, and discipline, the listener is given real-world examples of success after failure and are inspired to keep going no matter what might happen. The book is great for anybody who is serious about taking their passion to the next level, or looking for a reason to have passion in the first place. If you feel like you're in a rut or like you're simply unable to nudge or move forward, this book has very pertinent advice for you, too. Everyone can benefit from the techniques outlined in Mind Gym: The Ultimate Guide for Beginners, and they will find themselves in awe of their newfound ability to perform upon shedding themselves of the insecurities and anxieties that clouded their judgment before. The idea underneath it all is very simple: you go to a real gym in order to train your muscles. Shouldn't you go to a "mind gym" to train your mind? Historical greats, not only from sports but from every industry, have underscored the absolute importance of having a strong mind. Many famous athletes have said that having a strong mind is as important as having strong muscles, and more still have said that the majority of being a top-level athlete and being great at a game is having a honed mind. ungekürzt.
