    Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2006 im Fachbereich Kunst - Malerei, Note: 1,25, Katholische Universität Eichstätt-Ingolstadt (Philosophisch-Pädagogische Fakultät, Lehrstuhl für Kunstgeschichte), Veranstaltung: Goya und die Geschichte der Druckgraphik, 25 Quellen im Literaturverzeichnis, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Goyas „Schwarze Gemälde“ (im Original „Pinturas Negras“), die er um 1820 in Öl direkt auf die Wände seines Landhauses bei Madrid malt, gehören zu den außergewöhnlichsten und auch furchteinflößendsten Werken des spanischen Künstlers. Sie strahlen etwas unheimliches aus, das sich jedoch kaum greifen oder in Worte fassen lässt. Dem Betrachter fällt es sehr schwer, genau festzustellen, worin das Unheimliche in diesen Gemälden liegt. Ist es nur die Farbe bzw. die düstere Stimmung? Oder das Motiv? Vielleicht auch die Art der Darstellung? Dies sind Fragen, die sich wohl jeder vor den Pinturas Negras stellt und doch so schwer zu beantworten sind. In dieser Arbeit soll versucht werden, Antworten auf diese Fragen zu finden. Der Ausgangspunkt ist der sozialgeschichtliche Hintergrund zur Zeit der Entstehung der Schwarzen Gemälde um 1820. Es soll kurz auf die Geschichte Spaniens eingegangen werden, die Umstände in Madrid und die allgemeine wirtschaftliche, gesellschaftliche und soziale Situation, wie sie sich Goya dargeboten hat. Weiter soll Goyas Leben in diesem Zeitraum (ca. 1818-1824) betrachtet werden, seine familiäre Situation sowie die Umstände des Kaufs und der Ausmalung des „Quinta del Sordo“, Haus des Tauben, genannten Landsitzes. Dabei wird auch auf die sogenannte„Krise der Kunst um 1800“ eingegangen, die sich besonders in Goyas Werken manifestiert. Indem er sich radikal von den bis dahin geltenden Normen der Bildgestaltung abwendet, ist es ihm möglich, eine neue Art von Kunst zu entwickeln, in der der Künstler als Individuum und die Themen aus seiner eigenen Wirklichkeit in den Mittelpunkt treten. Danach sollen die Pinturas Negras innerhalb von Goyas gesamten Oeuvre kunsthistorisch verortet werden. Quasi als „Vorläufer“ zu den Schwarzen Gemälden wird das kurz zuvor entstandene „Selbstporträt mit Arrieta“ (1820) behandelt, das Goyas Auseinandersetzung mit seiner schweren Krankheit, die ihn 1819 befällt, zeigt. Nach der Einbettung der Pinturas Negras in den Gesamtkontext von Goyas Oeuvre soll weiter auf die motivischen Rückbezüge zu Werken aus seiner Frühzeit eingegangen werden. In der Art eines Selbstzitats verwendet Goya hier Bildmotive, die er früher schon einmal, beispielsweise in den Teppichkartons oder den Gemälden für die Familie Osuna, verwendet hat, jetzt jedoch auf groteske Weise verfremdet und dem Betrachter damit vollends verunsichert.
