The River of No Return: The Jaguar Stones, Book 3 , Hörbuch, Digital, ungekürzt, 581min
A hurricane is brewing in the jungles of the Maya, and the ancient Death Lords are on the warpath. Across the world in Venice, Italy, hanging out with his blogger friend Nasty (Anastasia) Smith-Jones and eating Pizza Gelato, Max Murphy thinks he is safe from their clutches. But when a rogue octopus pulls him off his gondola and tries to drag him down to the underworld, Max realizes that the Death Lords have not finished with him yet. Soon Max is back in Central America and reunited with the only ones who can help him in his battle - Lola, the mysterious Maya girl, and the howler monkeys Lord 6-Dog and Lady Coco. Once again it’s up to the four of them to save the world as they fight off mutant cave spiders, zombie warriors, and, of course, the twelve villainous Death Lords. With the hurricane about to hit land, Max and Lola embark on a one-way journey to danger down the blighted Monkey River. They take shelter in a subterranean hotel, only to stumble upon Death Lord central. Torn between rescuing themselves and rescuing one of the last wild jaguars of the Monkey River region, Max and Lola find themselves drawn into an ever more bizarre series of tests, culminating in a terrifying ballgame that they can never win. The River of No Return is filled with the same outrageous humor, heart-stopping action, and fascinating details of Maya culture that fans of the Jaguar Stones series have come to love. Listeners will be intrigued as secrets are revealed about their favorite characters while Max and Lola try to stop the world from ending...at least for now. ungekürzt. Language: English. The Olmec and Toltec: The History of Early Mesoamerica's Most Influential Cultures , Hörbuch, Digital, ungekürzt, 130min
The Olmec people are widely recognized as the first major civilization of Mexico and are thus generally regarded as the mother civilization of Mesoamerica, making them the people from which all subsequent Mesoamerican cultures derived. In fact, the term Olmec is thought to have originated with the Aztec people, as Olmec in their Nahuatl language means "the rubber people", a reference to the inhabitants of the land from which they accessed rubber. By and large, the Olmec culture is perhaps best identifiable by their so-called colossal heads, mammoth basalt head-statues wearing helmet-like headdresses found throughout Olmec habitation sites. Around 2500 BC, the Olmec settled primarily along Mexico's Gulf Coast in the tropical lowlands of south-central Mexico (in the modern-day States of Veracruz and Tabasco), and they flourished during North America's Prehistoric Indian Formative period from about 1700-400 BC. Their direct cultural contributions were still evident as late as AD 300. Among Mesoamerican scholars, the Formative period is subdivided into the Preclassic (Olmec period), Classic (Maya period), and Postclassic (Toltec and Aztec periods). The Olmec's agricultural abilities sustained them and ensured their power and influence for over a millennium. They produced corn/maize, squash, and other plant foods in such quantities that they were afforded the manpower to build great monuments and ceremonial centers to further promote their cultural identity. From a cultural standpoint, their pyramids, open plazas, their ballgame, and possibly even centers of human sacrifice are thought to have established the societal model that subsequent societies like the Maya, Zapotec, Teotihuacano, Toltec, Mixtec, and Aztec would emulate. In the same vein, some scholars believe that they also affected the cultural development of the Native American groups of the United States and those of Central and South America as well. The Mythology and Religion of Ancient Mesoamerica , Hörbuch, Digital, ungekürzt, 169min

In the same vein, some scholars believe they also affected the cultural development of the Native American groups of the US and those of Central and South America as well. Proving to be one the most enduring models ever, the religious and cultural structure the Olmec established held reign for more than 3,000 years, and it would likely have endured much longer without the arrival of the Spanish conquistadors.Although the Maya mysteriously disappeared in the middle of the last millennium, their culture survived and was passed down among peoples in the region. As a result, the religion has also evolved, and the conflation of traditional Maya religious beliefs has largely involved a shift from animistic polytheism to quasi-monotheism with continuing aspects of animism. The onset of Catholic religious hegemony influenced all aspects of Maya society, including religious life, and in a move that is typically Mesoamerican, Maya practitioners included aspects into Maya religious practices. Ritual sacrifice continued long after the arrival of the S ungekürzt. Language: English. Narrator: Dan Gallagher. Audio sample: https://samples.audible.de/bk/acx0/122216/bk_acx0_122216_sample.mp3. Making Life Easy: A Simple Guide to a Divinely Inspired Life , Hörbuch, Digital, ungekürzt, 487min
Ever since medical school, Dr. Christiane Northrup has been guided by an essential truth about the way our bodies, minds, and souls are intertwined. It's the same truth Edgar Cayce expressed in this famous formula: The spirit is life. The mind is the builder. The physical is the result. When we don't grasp this - when we view our bodily well-being in isolation - life can devolve into constant worry about our health and constant battling to make our bodies "behave". When we acknowledge the deep connection between our beliefs and our biology and start to tune in to the divine part of ourselves, it's a whole new ballgame - and the first step in truly making our lives work. Making life work, and truly feeling your best, is about far more than physical health; it's also about having a healthy emotional life and a robust spiritual life. And this is what makes the efforts of modern medicine incomplete. As Dr. Northrup explains, our current medical system treats symptoms as inconveniences to be masked with drugs or eliminated with surgery - but that's like putting duct tape over the "check engine" light on your dashboard instead of looking under the hood to see what the engine needs. This joyfully encouraging new book helps you lift the hood on your own life and health. Topics include: Untying the knots of blame and guilt that harm your health Using sexual energy consciously to increase vitality Balancing your internal systems, including your microbiome, through healthy eating Cultivating a strong, healthy ego that serves you - instead of the other way around Communicating directly with the divine - whatever form it takes for you Drawing on fields from astrology to past-life regression to the new science of epigenetics to standard Western medicine, Dr. Northrup distills a brilliant career's worth of wisdom into one comprehensive user's guide to a healthy ungekürzt. Blasted Past: A Timeless Romance in Western History: When THEN Turns into NOW, You Have a Blasted Past , Hörbuch, Digital, ungekürzt, 405min
Jim Nagle was beset with more problems than any 54-year old investment executive could handle. His ex-wife had her lawyers on him, his estranged son was in jail, and the California State Franchise Board was chasing him for back taxes. It seemed that everyone was against him. The topper of it all was that his business was growing so fast he was mismanaging it. Then, in a single moment of a heartbeat, his life was changed forever. A freak accident thrust Nagle back 145 years in time. Could this be real? Did this really happen? Is it even possible? Time had just been ripped away from him and Nagle finds himself stranded in a small post-Civil War Texas town. He couldn’t deny reality standing on the dusty streets of this frontier village. The town was populated with gunfighters, drifters, hostile Indians, and prostitutes sprinkled among the solid German immigrant citizens that founded it. Nagle came to believe that only God could have brought him to this place. A life-long Catholic, Nagle had slipped from grace with the church over the years. His being here could not have been an accident but a part of God’s plan. Nagle’s renewed faith convinces him that his Maker wants him in 1872 for a reason. But what is that purpose? Was he sent here to change history? What was significant about being put in this place at this time in antiquity? And while he waited for the understanding of his circumstances, he needed to develop new coping skills to exist in this primitive environment. The modern contrivances he always relied on hadn’t been invented yet. This was a whole new ballgame. In fact, as he soon discovered, he would need some specialized skills pretty darn quick - just to stay alive. ungekürzt. Language: English. Narrator: James Conlan.
