Scents and Sensuality , Hörbuch, Digital, ungekürzt, 617min
Perfumer Amanda Whitfield no longer sees the science geek when she looks in her mirror - thanks to the makeover her best friend gave her - but she still feels like that geeky girl inside. She knows all about the science of smell and the science of sex appeal in a strictly intellectual way, but when it comes to a practical application of the knowledge, as in romance and sex, Amanda draws a blank. To hook a man, Amanda, following her best friend's advice, plans to portray an empty-headed hottie whose bra size is a bigger number than her IQ. Stuff like that works in the romantic-comedy books and movies Amanda loves, so maybe it will work in real life. She'll do whatever it takes to get a date for her cousin's wedding because there's no way she'll attend what is supposed to be the "wedding of the year" without a man on her arm. Chalk it up to years of rivalry between Amanda and her cousin or to the fact that her cousin takes every opportunity to belittle Amanda. In truth, it's because Amanda, stung by her cousin's endless needling, told the biggest fattest lie - in front of her entire family - that she had a handsome, charming, successful boyfriend. Now the wedding looms on the horizon like the iceberg that collided with the Titanic. Amanda's desperate. She'll do anything to get a date. Enter a matchmaking mom with a son to marry off. Computer genius Harrison Kincaid is fed up with his mother's crazy schemes. He's determined to teach her a lesson but first he must deal with her latest prospect, Amanda Whitfield. Desperate to put an end to his mom's attempts to marry him off - and to escape the latest blind date - Harrison hatches a plan to make Amanda kick him to the curb. Amanda and Harrison may be desperate, but the moment they meet, everything changes. Desire - unbidden, unwanted, impossible to fight - sizzles between them. ungekürzt. Language: English. Healthy Lifestile Against Cancer, First Edition: Become a Cancer Survivor, A Nutritional and Mindset Approach , Hörbuch, Digital, ungekürzt, 44min
Cancer. It's one of those words that strikes a lot of fear into the hearts of people who have been told they have it and the people who love them. And for good reason. Many people have died from cancer and have died in agony and suffering. It's one of the worst ways to leave this world and, as such, the "Big C" looms large and strikes much fear into the hearts of many people, even those who don't have it.I want to tell you that cancer isn't as scary as you may think it is. While cancer is certainly an enemy that nobody should belittle or take for granted, it's not an unbeatable foe. Why should you believe me? It's because I've looked at it square in the eyes, wrestled with it, and have won the battle. Yes, it wasn't an easy battle. But as hard as it can be, it can be won. And I've created this book to teach you how you can beat the "Big C" by living a healthy lifestyle. In this book, I'll share what cancer really is, how it develops and attacks the body, and two ways you can use a healthy lifestyle to beat the living hell out of it: prevention and treatment. Most of what I'll be sharing with you pertain to minimizing your risks of acquiring this disease because your odds of beating cancer are 100 percent if you're able to avoid it. And to successfully avoid it, you'll need a holistic approach, i.e., living a healthy lifestyle, which I'll share with you. Many of the preventive lifestyle approaches can also be done to supplement cancer therapies, in case you already have cancer. That's why most of my discussion about living a healthy lifestyle as a means to overcome cancer involves these approaches. In fact, all the more reason you'll have to use these approaches if you already have cancer. Through these healthy lifestyle practices, you can supplement the efficacy of available cancer treatments, which we'll enumerate and describe in the third chapter. Now, if you're ready to beat this thing called the "Big C", turn the page and let' ungekürzt. Language: English. Narrator: Sangita Chauhan. Love Songs & Other Trios
Reviewer Kevin Lynch of the The Capital Times/Wisconsin State Journal wrote of this CD: 'By the time Camplin sang 'I've Seen Trouble,' I could feel my heart aching right through my shirt. You pay a small price to hear this man's voice. I once characterized it as the voice of a fallen angel. After hearing Camplin's long-awaited CD of 12 originals, I know more of what I meant. His voice is a glimpse of a private, forlorn hell. But Camplin's shining baritone keeps his spirit more sweet than bitter. He knows that these qualities can get stuck in neutral, so he invariably drives the music forward with his own rhythm guitar and the crackling jump starts of lead guitarist Jason ''Doet'' Klagstad, a contrapuntal momentum that sustains you through the album's predominant quietude (also featured are bassist Steve Kleiber and string player Randy Sabien). That energy also helps boost Camplin's lyrics, which often flash pure poetry: 'You are a danger disguised as a breath of spring/ And after all we're bound to fall and doing it with no shame.' Camplin carries the weight of too many losses, a bit like this past year's Green Bay Packers. But he's a wandering spirit, beholden to nobody's rules. And yet he sings in one song, 'I Still Need Someone'. The songs rummage through the human condition, turning up archetypes like 'Old Man', or loved ones like 'The Daughter', with lyrics like 'raised on whiskey and flowers, born with hope and with shame, conceived by chance and deception'. There are still traces of Bob Dylan -- and even Lou Reed -- in Camplin's tender toughness. Check out the brilliantly rolling cadences of 'Long and Desperate Day'. It's also gratifying to hear him 'speaking to your shadow' on 'January Guitar', reprised from his very first album, 'January', from 1971.
