The Pot Thief Who Studied Edward Abbey , Hörbuch, Digital, ungekürzt, 536min
The pot thief is going back to school, but someone on campus is trying for a different kind of degree - murder in the first - in this “smartly funny series” (Anne Hillerman). Before making a somewhat notorious name for himself as a salvager of antiquated pottery and other desert artifacts, Hubie Schuze was an eager student at the University of New Mexico - right up until they booted him out. Now, he’s back at UNM as a pottery teacher. It should be a breeze, but campus life has changed dramatically in the past 25 years. From cell phones to trigger warnings to sensitivity workshops, Hubie has to get up to speed fast or risk losing control of his class. But his dismay at the state of modern academia takes a back seat when a young beauty working as a life model is murdered - and Hubie becomes a suspect. Taking the investigation into his own hands, he soon uncovers a wide palette of sketchy suspects that includes both the self-involved student body and the quarrelsome art-school faculty. But what he doesn’t know is that the murderer has a new artistic project in the works: a headstone for the grave of Hubie Schuze.... The Pot Thief Who Studied Edward Abbey is the eighth book in the Pot Thief Mysteries, but you may enjoy listening to the series in any order. ungekürzt. Language: English. Narrator: Austin Rising. Soul Catchers: How to Survive the Afterlife, Book 2 , Hörbuch, Digital, ungekürzt, 589min
John's gone and the hunt is on...As the demons gather to debate John’s disappearance the scattered parts of his soul plan revenge on those responsible. All that stands between him and success is his newly acquired Tourette’s Syndrome and an increasing list of pursuers. Demons, Satan, shadow souls and a gang of deceased murderous dictators all want a piece of him. Fortunately there’s plenty to go around. Meanwhile the pigeon, Sandy Logan, contemplates his unfulfilled ambitions. What if he ruled Hell? All he needs is an army and a plan to spark revolution. While the demons are distracted, his dysfunctional mob will attempt to pull off one of the greatest heists in the Universe. Young fingers trace the letters on a cold black stone. They find a J, O, H, and finally, N. It’s the grave of a man whose image has been imprinted on David’s mind his whole life. Yet the name is the second most interesting thing about it. Mysteriously chiseled on the back of the headstone are the words, "God Protects the King".Sequel to The Limpet Syndrome, Soul Catchers is book 2 of How to Survive the Afterlife the funny fantasy series by Tony Moyle. If you love books that challenge your belief systems about feline astronauts, demons made of dark matter (possibly!), high speed tractors, the meaning of life (and death) and talking pigeons then this is the book for you. OK you've never heard a book like that before...here's your chance! Pick up the weirdness today! ungekürzt. Language: English. Narrator: Aubrey Parsons. The Nervous System: A Dewey Decimal Novel (Dewey Decimal, Book 2) , Hörbuch, Digital, ungekürzt, 535min
This detective story set in a dystopian New York stars “a seriously weird dude... A good time for fans of the likes of Charlie Huston and Charles Stross” (Kirkus Reviews).Nicknamed Dewey Decimal for his obsessive attempts to bring order to the New York Public Library in the wake of disastrous events in the city, the hero of this series earns his keep as a bagman and enforcer for unscrupulous politicians and underworld figures. Now, he’s stumbled upon information concerning the gruesome murder of a prostitute that involves a prominent US senator - and finds himself chasing ghosts and fighting for his life, pursued by private military contractors and the ever-present specter of his own past....“Larson’s vividly imagined world and his quirky narrator are likely to win him a cadre of loyal fans.” (Publishers Weekly)“This intellectual giddy riot is the book of the year... The mystery is taken to a whole new level of technospeak artistry, and wonderfully witty, like John Kennedy Toole if he’d written a mystery novel and did meth - a lot of it. The warmth of the character seeps through in Dewey Decimal’s love for a devastated New York... The most original PI since Marlowe. OCD never seemed so compelling. Loved it - and then some. What a writer.” (Ken Bruen, author of Headstone)“I’m a sucker for a postapocalyptic setting, and Nathan Larson’s is a doozy; but the real gold here is the voice. I could listen to this guy all day.” (S. J. Rozan, Edgar Award-winning author of the Bill Smith/Lydia Chin series) ungekürzt. Language: English. Narrator: JD Jackson. Tristram's Treasures: The True American Story , Hörbuch, Digital, ungekürzt, 187min
I have created this artistic expression of a storybook version of the Coffin family legacy, with original painting collages with vintage photos into illustrations. This is the true story of the seafaring Coffin Family Legacy, connecting their historical homes, historical museums, and events, beginning in Normandy, France. The Norman Coffins lived in possession of Chateau Cortiton in 1066, which still stands today. After migrating to England with William the Conquerer in the 1200s, Sir Richard Coffin built Portledge Manor in Devonshire, England, also still standing today. In 1642, Tristram Coffin Sr. of Devonshire, England, with his family, left a civil war and was among the first of the race that settled in America. Living alternatively in the colony of Massachusetts, he arranged for the purchase of Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard by a company he organized of nine men on July 2, 1659. The forth son of Tristram Coffin Sr. was John Tristram Coffin, who was the first of the Coffins to take up residence on Martha's Vineyard was a notable blacksmith and considerable owner of real estate. My family line is directly linked to John Coffin. He died on September 11, 1711, leaving the oldest headstone on Martha's Vineyard. Continuing is the story of Abigail Starbuck Coffin, doctor/midwife. She was a daughter of the Mormon Pioneers caught in the western swirl of migration. Another connection is automobile magnate Howard E. Coffin, the father of standardization, predecessor of United Airlines, a prince of Detroit, and the king of the Georgia Coast. He shared in the visionary influence of his ancestors from Nantucket Island in the 1600s and thus extended Tristram Coffin's legacy to the southeastern Atlantic coast of Georgia. In this way, the original owners of Nantucket Island, Martha's Vineyard, and Sea Island, Georgia, connect over 300 years just one of many Coffin Connections. To me, my ancestors are timeless. They are like a rare and tre ungekürzt. Language: English. Narrator: Derek Shoales. Audio sample: https://samples.audible.de/bk/acx0/161092/bk_acx0_161092_sample.mp3. The Architect of Song , Hörbuch, Digital, ungekürzt, 765min
A lady imprisoned by deafness, an architect imprisoned by his past, and a ghost imprisoned within the petals of a flower intertwine in this love story that transcends life and death. For most of her life, Juliet Emerline has subsisted, isolated by deafness, making hats in the solitude of her home. Now she's at risk of losing her sanctuary to Lord Nicolas Thornton, a mysterious and eccentric architect with designs on her humble estate. When she secretly witnesses him raging beside a grave, Juliet investigates, finding the name "Hawk" on the headstone and an unusual flower at the base. The moment Juliet touches the petals, a young English nobleman appears in ghostly form, singing a song only her deaf ears can hear. The ghost remembers nothing of his identity or death other than the one name that haunts his afterlife: Thornton. To avenge her ghostly companion and save her estate, Juliet pushes aside her fear of society and travels to Lord Thornton's secluded holiday resort, posing as a hatmaker in one of his boutiques. There she finds herself questioning who to trust: the architect of flesh and bones who can relate to her through romantic gestures, heartfelt notes, and sensual touches...or the specter who serenades her with beautiful songs and ardent words, touching her mind and soul like no other man ever can. As sinister truths behind Lord Thornton's interest in her estate and his tie to Hawk come to light, Juliet is lured into a web of secrets. But it's too late for escape, and the tragic love taking seed in her heart will alter her silent world forever. International and NYT best-selling author A. G. Howard brings her darkly magical and visual/visceral storytelling to Victorian England. The Architect of Song is the first installment in her lush and romantic Haunted Hearts Legacy series, a four-book new adult Gothic saga following the generations of one family as, haunted by both literal and figurative ghosts, they sea ungekürzt. Flat Earth Clues: The Sky's the Limit , Hörbuch, Digital, ungekürzt, 354min
The Flat Earth Clues book gives you 12 compelling reasons why you should rethink the globe model that you have been taught. Before you were born, before your parents, your grandparents, before you even had a family line. There was the illusion, the trick, the lie that you lived on a small spinning rock flying through space. You thought it was true, because children don't believe in lies. And you grew up, and it was still true, because science is never wrong.... Except for small things like lead gasoline, lead paint, DDT, cigarettes not causing cancer, and what the core of the Earth looks like. You know that fire burns, water is wet, drop something and it falls to the floor. We can all test these things. What shape is the world? That's not something you know; it's something you're told. To put it simply, you just have to take their word for it. And there's the real crux of the problem: the weight of their word. It's really about trust. Most of us trust science to some degree. It's about proving the Earth flat, but more importantly it's about disproving the globe, and that shouldn't be possible, but there are several big questions which science has a difficult time with. Why was there only one blue marble image used for 43 years? Where are the videos of the Earth rotating from space? Astronauts can't turn around in space with the camera running? Not even by accident? Are the Van Allen radiation belts dangerous? Why does the Orion "Trial by Fire" video exist? Why was the space shuttle program cancelled? Why does the Mars mission keep getting postponed? Why are they closing down the ISS? Why is Psalm 19:1 on Werner Von Braun's headstone? Why is the moon generating a light that is sometimes 12 degrees colder than the moon shade? How is that possible if it's reflecting the sun's rays? And if the moon is generating its own light source, then what was that dark grey thing we landed on? We can beam back crystal-clear photos of Pluto, but t ungekürzt. Language: English. Narrator: Mark Sargent. Audio sample: https://samples.audible.de/bk/bglz/000006/bk_bglz_000006_sample.mp3.
