While never breaking out as a crossover artist, keyboardist and vocalist Michael Wycoff developed a following as a result of three solid albums he released in the early 80's and a minor hit that was later sampled as part of a major hit. Wycoff first came to the attention of audiences through his participation as a background vocalist on Stevie Wonder's landmark Songs in the Key of Life album in 1976. He worked over the next several years on albums by Natalie Cole and 7th Wonder before being signed by RCA Records' fledgling Black Music division in 1980 (around the time of their signings of other acts such as Evelyn Champagne King and Tavares). On Two Universes, their first studio album in over five years, Feufollet proves their Cajun roots don t define them as much as propel them forward, whispers of the swamp and its time-honored waltzes trigger a modern and broad musical imagination, one that finds equal expression in blues, old-time, country ballads, rock n roll, whatever, all for the sake of the song. Following the celebrated releases Cow Island Hop (2008) and En Couleurs (2010), Two Universes is the product of long-steeping recording sessions and collaborative songwriting between bandleader Chris Stafford and singer and multi-instrumentalist Kelli Jones-Savoy, whose contributions make this a breakout album, of sorts. Raised on Appalachian fiddle traditions, Kelli adds old-time stomp to the band s repertoire. Also new to the band, keyboardist Andrew Toups lends a new-wave gospel sound owed to his background playing in rock bands. Toups s influence on shaping the record, combined with Feufollet s usual fare twin fiddles, French accordion, guitar twang, and barn-dance rhythms give the record more than a passing resemblance to the Band s Music From the Big Pink. But above all else, the album s signature sound comes from the vocal performanc s. Flipping from husky honky-tonk angel to French chanteuse, Kelli s voice perfectly pairs with Stafford s swamp-pop vocal stylings. TRACKS: 1. Tired of Your Tears 2. Know What's Next 3. Hole In My Heart 4. Two Universes 5. Cette fois 6. When You Said Goodbye 7. One Foot In My Door 8. Pris dans la vie farouche 9. Early Dawn 10. Red Light 11. Questions sans réponses

A trio raised in the year 1990 by singer-bassist-keyboardist Danny FLORES, guitarist George PICADO and drummer Scott RAIDER, RING OF MYTH evolves between GENTLE GIANT and YES-flavoured Progressive rock, with that typical american approach. ''Unbound'' is full of vivacity and elaborated constructions, with nicely harmonized vocals, a bit in the style of Jon ANDERSON. And what about those guitar parts, sounding so much like Steve HOWE's ? RING OF MYTH likes to take its time working on each new alb

The prolific Domenico Alberti squeezed a surprising number of works out of a short and eventful life, achieving fame across Western Europe, particularly for the socalled 'Alberti bass', an arpeggiated style of left-hand keyboard playing. Yet his presentday reputation does not equal these heights, his fame largely limited today to his Eight Sonatas. This recording puts this to rights, showcasing Alberti as a composer who deserves to be remembered for centuries to come, as a musical poet possessed of remarkable invention and imagination.Alberti's compositions display the simplicity and sensitivity of Clementi, the vigour of Mozart and, in the briefest of moments, an almost Schubertian or Chopinesque pre-Romanticism. His keyboard compositions are generally individual movements or twopart toccatas or sonatas, the whole full of melodic echoes and intentional reworkings, which form intriguing bridges between the pieces. The three distinct periods in the composer's output of keyboard music are mirrored here by the use of organ, fortepiano and harpsichord (all of which Alberti would have had to hand in his day) - corresponding also to the period practice of 'playing on all manner of instruments', with individual pieces often not tied down to a specific instrument. This combination adds a Talented keyboardist and international award-winner Manuel Tomadin has a particular interest in Renaissance and Baroque music and historical organs. He brings all of his expertise to bear on this superb album. This 4CD set contains the complete keyboard music by Domenico Alberti, a First Recording!Domenico Alberti lived a short but very productive life, from 1710-1740. He was famous as a composer, cembalo player and singer (the world famous castrato Farinelli heard him sing, and recognised in him a fearful rival).Alberti claim to fame is his "discovery" of the so-called Alberti-bass: the accompanying left hand chord broken in a certain way (like c-g-e-g etc). This figure forms the basis of the Viennese classical style, and was used by all composers of keyboard sonatas and sonatinas. Alberti's Sonatas and Toccatas are in two movements, the first an allegro in free form, followed by a mellow andante in arioso style. In order to achieve maximum variety Manuel Tomadin performs these works on three instruments: an historic organ (1773 Francesco Dacci organ), a harpsichord and a fortepiano. Manuel Tomadin already recorded successfully for Brilliant Classics, notably the Leipziger Chorale by Bach (BC94456).Recorded in Italy in 2013 and 2014.Contains liner notes written by the artist in Italian and English.Contains a biography of the artist.Contains a full organ specification.

The dark, impossibly intense dirges, industrial noise onslaughts and banshee like free jazz wailing heard throughout Anguish could be an imposing soundtrack for a dystopian, post apocalyptic future. This powerhouse, inter-generational offering and debut brings together an unlikely gathering of members of the New Jersey based experimental hip hop group Dälek (rapper Will Brooks, guitarist keyboardist Mike Mare), the Swedish free jazz group Fire! Frank and Jim Kovac have teamed up to combine over 30 years of music experience and a craving for originality to create the band, KOVAC BROTHERS. The group blends elements of rock, with jazz harmony and a dash of southern rock edge to get their unique sound. The influences of Steely Dan, and The Allman Brothers are now made relevant with a relentless fusion of music. The vocal style is reminiscent of classic Elvis Costello and Tom Petty, with a contemporary dash similar to Rob Thomas. In addition, the mix of contemporary subject matter, timeless lyrical content, and flip anecdotes, reminiscent of the best in American roots music to keep the listener grounded during the musical journey. Describing the collective nature of KOVAC BROTHERS introduces the rebirth of the band. Before Kovac Brothers, the last time Frank and Jim performed on a major stage together was at the 1997 HORDE Tour in Philadelphia with Colonel Bruce Hampton (Aquarium Rescue Unit) and members of Leftover Salmon. At the time, Frank Kovac was touring relentlessly with New Brown Hat and Jim Kovac was a free-lance drummer, a hired gun, most notably with industrial band Simulcast, hip-hop group the Nervous System and pop singer Amie Miriello (now Dirtie Blonde). Jim Kovac adds, "We're not just looking to create interesting music but also to promote independent music as a more sincere representation of people's ideas". Beginning in January of 2006 as Rhythm Clutch then KoVaX, and finally KOVAC BROTHERS, they recruited some highly regarded area musicians to get started. Dave Morrison on bass, Geordie Van Nostrand on guitar, provided a rock edge and sax players Evan Olmstead and Jeff Wasserman rounded out the jazz side. A highly committed musical schedule and other interests sadly saw Morrison and Van Nostrand leave by 2008. Long time friend and band mate from the New Brown Hat era, Fell Herdeg took up bass duties adding superb pocket and fine vocal harmony. Replacing the second guitar was keyboardist and songwriter Patrick Sweeney. Sweeney expanded the harmonic texture of the band while also lending some great vocal harmony as well. "The songs seemed to come alive with this instrumentation" stated a pleased Frank Kovac. With out hesitation, some focused listening moved Frank and Jim to produce the record aptly named "Seeing is Believing". Narrowing down songs from the abundant collection of writer Frank Kovac, was the next step and teaming up with another old friend, renowned producer Brad Young, started the project moving at a industrious pace. The group and it's' sound is magnetic. Sweeney has simply stated that every song is unique but they are all saying, "welcome, come on in and listen". With that in mind, KOVAC BROTHERS, is certainly one of those must have bands for your collection or a show you have to See to Believe.

Three of Denver's most precocious talents come together under the leadership of emcee, guitarist, and keyboardist Paul Mullikin whose brainchildren pick the pockets of Cannonball, Miles, and Charlie Parker and fuse their own flavor of hip-hop without even asking permission. Think Dr. Dre with a jazz degree. Think Mingus playing for The Roots. Listen carefully.
