    Hazy Osterwald wurde am 18.02.1922 in Bern, Schweiz geboren. Er besuchte in den 40er Jahren das Konservatorium und lernte Komposition und Trompete. Er arrangierte für Teddy Stauffer und spielte Trompete in verschiedenen Bands. 1949 gründete er das Hazy Osterwald Sextett, mit dem er die USA und ganz Europa bereiste. Nach ersten Singlever- öffentlichungen in Österreich bekam das Sextett 1955 einen Plattenvertrag in Deutschland. 1959 hatte das Hazy Osterwald Sextett mit "Rebel Rouser" den ersten Erfolg in den deutschen Charts. Der Titel kletterte bis auf Platz 29. Im Oktober desselben Jahres gelang ihnen mit "Kriminal-Tango" der erste Top Ten Hit in Deutschland. Ihr Markenzeichen waren die ironischen und witzigen deutschen Texte und die überragende musikalische Qualität der bühnenerfahrenen Bandmitglieder. Zahlreiche Gastauftritte in Spielfilmen wie "Die Hazy Osterwald Story" machten die Gruppe weiter populär. Es folgten Hits wie "Panoptikum" (1960, #33) und "Konjunktur-Cha-Cha" (1961, #40). Hazy Osterwald gab bis Ende der 70er Jahre Live-Konzerte.
