Before And Now Seems Infinite ist der Name des bemerkenswerten neuen Albums von Federico Albanese. Es erscheint im Februar 2022. Inspiriert wurde es thematisch von Marcel Prousts Idee, dass die eigene Erinnerung nicht zwangsläufig der Wahrheit entspricht, und so beschäftigt sich Albanese darin mit dem Verschwimmen von Vergangenheit und dem Hier und Jetzt, Erinnerung und Realität.?There are multiple ways in which we perceive a memory,? sagt der in Mailand aufgewachsene Komponist und Multiinstrumentalist Albanese, der mittlerweile Berlin sein Zuhause nennt. ?We might remember things from different angles and give them different meanings. I find it interesting to explore the instant where we decide how we are going to remember something. And music is the vehicle I use to find these moments, to hold them in time.?Before And Now Seems Infinite ist Albaneses Album-Debut auf dem stilprägenden Label Mercury KX von Universal Music. Es folgt seinem letzten Album By The Deep Sea (2018) und dem Soundtrack Twelve des gleichnamigen Dokumentarfilms von 2019. Allerdings ist es bereits die dritte Veröffentlichung auf Mercury KX in nur neun Monaten: voraus gingen im Juli mit The Moments We Keep eine gemeinsame EP mit der Irisch-Norwegischen Singer-Songwriterin Tara Nome Doyle sowie die spontan eingespielte Solo-Piano EP Fredenwade ? Teil 1 im Oktober 2021. Federico Albanese ist also durchaus umtriebig dieser Tage. Und vielleicht ist es die neugewonnene Experimentierfreude, die The Quiet Man ? die erste Single von Before And Now Seems Infinite - besonders wirken lässt. Sie trägt unverkennbar die Handschrift Albaneses, bereichert allerdings um viele neue Facetten.?This has been a long journey,? sagt Albanese, ?much more than my previous albums. By The Deep Sea was done in a month, for example.? Mehrere Anläufe waren nötig, viele Zweifel mussten aus dem Weg geräumt werden, ehe es Albanese gelang, eine eigene Sprache für sein neues Album zu finden. Aber das Experimentieren und die harte Arbeit zahlten sich schließlich aus und resultieren in Albaneses bisher vielschichtigsten und abenteuerfreudigsten Album. Stets jedoch in Albaneses eigener Balance zwischen Licht und Schatten, Zerbrechlichkeit und Spannung. ?I think you can feel that the music is carrying something, a message or an idea. It?s not just random sound.?Neben Albaneses wichtigstem Instrument, dem Klavier, spielte er auf dem neuen Album ebenfalls die Electronics, Synthesizer, E-Gitarre, Bass, Flöte, Klarinette, Melodica und diverse Field Recordings ein. Co-Produzent Simon Goff steuerte seinerseits Klänge seiner Violine bei, Arthur Hornig das Cello. Zudem sind erstmals zwei Gastsänger*innen auf einem Album von Federico Alanese vertreten: Marika Hackmann und Ghostpoet (Obaro Ejimiwe) ? zwei Künstler*innen, die sich ebenso wie Albanese nur schwer kategorisieren lassen.?The best artists push boundaries, and don?t repeat themselves,? sagt Albanese. ?That?s way more inspiring for me.
