The Time Traveler's Guide to Regency Britain: A Handbook for Visitors to 1789-1830
A vivid and immersive history of Georgian England that gives its reader a firsthand experience of life as it was truly lived during the era of Jane Austen, Percy Bysshe Shelley, and the Duke of Wellington. This is the age of Jane Austen and the Romantic poets; the paintings of John Constable and the gardens of Humphry Repton; the sartorial elegance of Beau Brummell and the poetic license of Lord Byron; Britain's military triumphs at Trafalgar and Waterloo; the threat of revolution and the Peterloo massacre. In the latest volume of his celebrated series of Time Traveler's Guides, Ian Mortimer turns to what is arguably the most-loved period in British history: the Regency, or Georgian England. A time of exuberance, thrills, frills and unchecked bad behavior, it was perhaps the last age of true freedom before the arrival of the stifling world of Victorian morality. At the same time, it was a period of transition that reflected unprecedented social, economic, and political change. And like all periods in history, it was an age of many contradictions-where Beethoven's thundering Fifth Symphony could premier in the same year that saw Jane Austen craft the delicate sensitivities of Persuasion. Once more, Ian Mortimer takes us on a thrilling journey to the past, revealing what people ate, drank, and wore; where they shopped and how they amused themselves; what they believed in, and what they feared. Conveying the sights, sounds, and smells of the Regency period, this is history at its most exciting, physical, visceral-the past not as something to be studied but as lived experience.- Shop: buecher

Dropship Guide for Beginners: How to Use Dropshipping to Make Money Online , Hörbuch, Digital, ungekürzt, 18min
Today's savvy e-commerce business owner knows how to compete. In years past, a business shopped for the products they wanted to resell, then they purchased the items and stored them while they searched for an end user or consumer. Once the product was sold, they shipped the item to their customer and hopefully made a profit. The method outlined above is costly. Besides the price of the item, the seller pays shipping from the manufacturer (or distributor) to his location. He then stores the item, taking up resources and space until he resells the merchandise. He invests time and effort into marketing the item. Finally, either he or the end user pays shipping (again) to their location. As the shipper, if the item is lost or damaged in shipping, the expense of filing tracking and claims falls on him as well. All of these steps have to be factored into the price of the item for the end user. The customer will decide if the end price of the item is a bargain and is competitive. Drop shipping is a proven way of reducing or eliminating many of these expenses, thus making the end price lower for the consumer and more profitable for the seller. With drop shipping, a seller or retailer does not purchase the item and store it for resell, but rather sells the merchandise and ships it directly from the manufacturer to the consumer. The seller does not have to store the item or pay shipping from the manufacture to his location. He does not have to handle the item himself. This reduces the chance of loss or damage and speeds up the process considerably! He needs less start-up money and can invest more time and money into his sales. (Storage rental can be very costly and a product that moves slower than anticipated can create a cash flow problem right out of the gate.) This is a great way to make money online. This guide will tell you how. So, let's get started! ungekürzt. Language: English. Narrator: Adam Schulmerich. Audio sample: https://samples.audible.de/bk/acx0/035986/bk_acx0_035986_sample.mp3. The King of Content: Sumner Redstone’s Battle for Viacom, CBS, and Everlasting Control of His Media Empire , Hörbuch, Digital, ungekürzt, 651min
Sumner Murray Redstone, once feared as the “mad genius” of media who would dump his CEOs for mere wobbles in his companies’ stock price, had built one of the world’s greatest media empires through a series of audacious takeovers constructed to ensure that he always maintained control. Today he controls 80 percent of the voting shares of both Viacom and CBS, meaning that on a whim he could replace the entire boards of two public companies with a combined value of $40 billion. He spent decades performing meticulous estate planning so that his control would extend beyond the grave (which he loved telling reporters he would never lie in), constructing trusts designed to make it impossible for his heirs to sell his companies after he died. “Unless they start doing terribly,” he told the Wall Street Journal in 2012, “which they will not.” As listeners will discover in The King of Content, Redstone’s confidence at the time was not misplaced. His life up to that point had been a story of exceeding expectations, climbing from the son of a linoleum peddler in the Jewish immigrant tenements of Boston’s West End to Harvard Law School, from the president of his father’s regional drive-in movie chain to the owner of Viacom, from a cerebral lawyer who shopped at Filene’s Basement to the owner of a coveted Hollywood studio, and ultimately, after the Viacom-CBS merger, to the controlling shareholder of the largest merged media entity in US history. The credo that he coined and repeated for decades - “content is king” - turned out to be more true in the digital world than he could have ever guessed. Through exclusive interview and hundreds of pages of legal documents, Keach Hagey reveals the story behind the rise and fall of this remarkable figure, and the details of the family members fighting for control of his vast empire. At the heart of all the dueling lawsuits running through the Redstone family is Sumner Redstone’s tumultuous love life - particul ungekürzt. Language: English. Narrator: Gabra Zackman. Summer on the Bluffs
New York Times Bestseller! The View cohost and New York Times bestselling author Sunny Hostin dazzles with this brilliant novel about a life-changing summer along the beaches of Martha's Vineyard. Welcome to Oak Bluffs, the most exclusive Black beach community in the country. Known for its gingerbread Victorian-style houses and modern architectural marvels, this picturesque town hugging the sea is a mecca for the crème de la crème of Black society—where Michelle and Barack Obama vacation and Meghan Markle has shopped for a house for her mom. Black people have lived in this pretty slip of the Vineyard since the 1600s and began buying property in the 1800s, making this posh town the embodiment of "old money.” Thirty years ago, Amelia Vaux Tanner and her husband built a house high on the bluffs, a cottage they named Chateau Laveau. For decades, "Ama” played host to American presidents, Wall Street titans, and cultural icons. But her favorite guests have always been her three "goddaughters:” Esperanza "Perry” Soto, a beautiful, talented Afro-Latina lawyer with Ama's strong, yet guarded personality; Olivia Jones, a gifted Wall Street analyst with Ama's brilliant, logical mind; and Billie Hayden, a gifted marine biologist and rule-breaker with Ama's courageous free spirit. Growing up, these three goddaughters from different backgrounds came together each summer at Chateau Laveau. As adults, the cottage is a place this trio of successful yet very different women go to escape, to slow down from their hectic lives, share private time with Ama, and enjoy the gorgeous weather, cool water, and stunning views Oak Bluffs offers. This summer on the Bluffs, however, will be different. An era is ending: Ama, now nearing seventy-one, is moving to the south of France to reunite with her college sweetheart. She has invited Perry, Olivia, and Billie to spend one last golden summer together with her the way they did when they were kids. And when fall comes, she is going to give the house to one of them. Each of the women wants the house desperately. Each is grappling with a secret she fears will hurt her and her chances. By the end of summer, old ties will fray, new bonds will be created, and these three found sisters will discover they aren't the only ones with something to hide. Ama has a few secrets of her own. What she has to give them is far more than property. Between Memorial Day and Labor Day, she will tell these surrogate daughters she fiercely loves and protects everything they never knew they needed to know.- Shop: buecher
