The Oldest Living Vampire Tells All: Revised and Expanded: The Oldest Living Vampire Saga, Book 1 , Hörbuch, Digital, ungekürzt, 614min
My legal name where I currently reside in the city of Liege, Belgium, is Gaspar Valessi. But that is not my real name. The name I was given some 30,000 years ago, when I was born in a Paleolithic settlement in the region that is now called Germany - the name my father gave me shortly after I was voided, bloody and howling, from my mother's womb - is Gon. So begins the saga of the immortal Gon, a 30,000 year-old vampire. This, the first volume of his memoirs, recounts his mortal life in prehistoric Germany alongside his male companion, Brulde, and his two wives, the Neanderthal Eyya and his Cro-Magnon mate, Nyala. It details the fearsome events that lead to his transformation from man to undying monster. This revised and expanded edition includes new material, adding depth to much-loved characters and more fully realizing the author's vision of the oldest living vampire and the prehistoric world that gave birth to him. By turns beautiful and subversive, poetic and seductive, The Oldest Living Vampire Saga is like no other vampire series you've ever heard! ungekürzt. Language: English. Narrator: Ian M. Walker. Murder in Lascaux , Hörbuch, Digital, ungekürzt, 629min
The cave of Lascaux may be closed to the public, but five scholars a day are allowed inside, and Nora Barnes has finagled an appointment. True, she may have fudged a bit in her letter to the authorities, but she does teach art history, and she isn’t about to miss her chance to see the world’s most famous prehistoric paintings. Nora and her high-spirited husband, Toby, are visiting the Dordogne, in the southern French region of the Aquitaine. Aware that the Dordogne’s renown for cave art is matched only by its reputation for delicious cuisine, the couple has also signed up for a cooking class at a nearby château, but they soon find that more than food is on their minds. During their tour of the cave, another visitor is murdered. When the local inspector pegs Nora and Toby as suspects, they embark on a mission to solve the crime, tracing strange links between a Cro-Magnon symbol and a 13th-century religious cult. As they match wits with the crusty inspector, Nora finds herself immersed in the notebooks of a forgotten artist who once lived in the chteau. In sifting through the artist’s papers and uncovering old secrets, she begins to piece together the motives for the murder. But has she cooked up more trouble than she can handle? ungekürzt. The Neanderthals and Cro-Magnon: The History and Legacy of the First People to Migrate to Europe , Hörbuch, Digital, ungekürzt, 151min
In popular culture, the term Neanderthal is used as a colloquial insult for a degenerate or someone perceived as stupid. This seems to have been the case even from the first recognition of the Neanderthals as a species. The first Neanderthal fossil discovery was that of a child’s skull in Belgium in 1829, but it was badly damaged. Another would be discovered in 1856 in a limestone mine of the Neanderthal region of what is present-day Germany, and a skull with differing distinct traits (indicating a different species than the Neanderthals) would be discovered just over a decade later in Southwestern France. The latter specimen would come to be recognized as an example of the species Homo sapiens, and these anatomically modern humans arrived in Europe between 45,000 and 43,000 years ago, around the time the Neanderthals are believed to started going extinct. The Neanderthals are a member of the genus Homo just like Homo sapiens and share roughly 99.7 percent of their DNA with modern humans (Reynolds and Gallagher 2012). Both species even lived briefly during the same time in Eurasia. However, the Neanderthals evolved separately in Europe, away from modern humans, who evolved in Africa. The Neanderthals lived in Europe and Asia for nearly 200,000 years and thrived in these regions, but they went extinct between 40,000 and 30,000 years ago, around the same time modern humans began arriving in Europe. This has prompted much speculation as to the nature of the interactions between Neanderthals and Homo sapiens, especially since some researchers believe they interacted with each other for more than 5,000 years before the Neanderthals began going extinct at different times across Europe. One hypothesis is that Homo sapiens displaced the Neanderthals and were better suited for the environment, and it is obviously possible if not likely that these two groups had become competitors for food and other resources, with Homo sapiens being more successful in ungekürzt. Ancient Aliens and the Age of Giants: Through the Wormhole , Hörbuch, Digital, ungekürzt, 489min
Analyze thousands of years of giant skeletons from seven to 15 feet tall, along with DNA evidence, genetic mutations, newspaper articles, archeological notes, and excerpts from the Smithsonian Institution's own records. Meet a living tribe of 19th century Stone Age giants. A leading anthropologist compared their bones to Cro-Magnon skeletons. Do they represent the original humans prior to the arrival of extraterrestrial giants, or the biblical Nephilim? Explore the advanced technology of the extraterrestrial giants: two-way radios, aircraft, self-propelled boats, wormholes, military vehicles, and aerial weapons that blasted Earth. Historical accounts, first-person encounters, plus legends and mythology tell us who they were, where they came from, how they interacted with humans, and left us with predictions of their return. There is a systematic attack on the evidence, however, that keeps giants mired in disbelief and ridicule. Documents are being rewritten one word at a time to give us an altered history that completely erases extraterrestrial giants, except in the realm of fairytales and fantasy. Dissect several alleged hoaxes and questionable discoveries for an in-depth look at how debunkers twist the facts: How does Area 51 and several missing witnesses fit into one of the biggest hoaxes in giant history? Were giant mummies used as a diversion for the Roswell UFO crash? Take an expanded look at the mummified, red-haired Lovelock giant found in Lovelock Cave, Nevada, and see how debunkers twisted the facts. Revisit the Los Lunas Decalogue Stone, and see how the Navajo translation was summarily dismissed by casting a shadow of doubt on the credentials of the translator - a translator whose credentials are impeccable. What happened to King Solomon's Cave in Montana? What turned this cave of giants into a giant hoax?? ungekürzt. Language: English. Narrator: Peter L. Delloro. Spain's Basque Country , Hörbuch, Digital, ungekürzt, 431min
In this guide, a resident of Spain delves into every part of the Basque Country of Spain. He tells of the history and culture, and provides innumerable useful traveling tips. Everything is explored - the cities, the parks, the islands, the mountains, the foods. There is an extensive introduction to the whole of Spain, the history and culture, the foods and wines, the arts and architecture. Then all the practical details are covered. Next, we zero in on Bilbao, San Sebastian and other parts of this fascinating Basque region - with a population speaking a language far more ancient than any other in Europe. Euskara, a language unrelated to Castilian Spanish, is fundamental to the Basque way of life. Like the Basque people themselves, this tongue derived from unknown origins. It remains to be proven whether the language of Euskara arrived with nomadic tribes from the Caucasus Mountains in Africa and, for that matter, whether or not the Basque people are truly descendants of Europe's earliest inhabitants, Cro-Magnon man. The Pais Vasco (Euskadi) is the easternmost autonomous region of what is known as Green Spain, a verdant swath of land along the northern Atlantic coast that, some say, resembles Switzerland more than it does Spain. Though there are plenty of opportunities for hiking in the empty inlands of the Pais Vasco, coastal sports like surfing and boating are the main activities, along with the unique Basque game of pelota and, of course, the adventures of eating. The Pais Vasco, with more gourmet restaurants and Michelin stars to its credit than any other Spanish region, is truly a culinary delight. ungekürzt. Language: English. Narrator: Michael Rene Zuzel.
