Why has the Eurozone ended up with an unemployment rate more than twice that of the United States more than six years after the collapse of Lehman Brothers? Why did the vast majority of low- and middle-income countries suffer a prolonged economic slowdown in the last two decades of the 20th century? What was the role of the International Monetary Fund in these economic failures? Why was Latin America able to achieve substantial poverty reduction in the 21st century after more than two decades without any progress? Failed analyzes these questions, explaining why these important economic developments of recent years have been widely misunderstood and in some cases almost completely ignored. First, in the Eurozone, Mark Weisbrot argues, the European authorities' political agenda, which included shrinking the welfare state; reducing health care, pension, and other social spending; and reducing the bargaining power of labor played a very important role in prolonging the Eurozone's financial crisis and pushing it into years of recession and mass unemployment. This conclusion is based not only on public statements of European officials but also on thousands of pages of documentation from consultations between the IMF and European governments after 2008. The second central theme of Failed is that there are always practical alternatives to prolonged economic failure. Drawing on the history of other financial crises, recessions, and recoveries, Weisbrot argues that regardless of initial conditions, there have been and remain economically feasible choices for governments of the Eurozone to greatly reduce unemployment - including the hardest hit, crisis-ridden country of Greece. The long-term economic failure of developing countries, its social consequences, and the subsequent recovery in the first decade of the 21st century constitute the third part of the book's narrative, one that has previously gotten too little attention. Every addictive drug and behavior is as unique as the individual caught in it. This audiobook abandons the recovery industry's one-size-fits-all mentality by separating each drug and behavior and provides strategies that are customized, specific, and detailed. Addiction is a pathological disorder that affects every society and every culture on this planet and has for thousands of years. It is much more pervasive than other clinical disorders; it is a defect of brain chemistry, mental and emotional wellness, spirituality, and character. I have pioneered new terms: AD (addictive disorder); APD (addictive personality disorder) as well as new terms for recovery: AP, RP, and SP (abstinence phase, recovery phase, and sobriety phase). This is one of the only audiobooks made by a science-minded professional who also has more than 20 years of sobriety from 11 years of schedule-IV narcotics use. Most recovery programs and literature today are designed by clinicians who are well-educated but cannot personally report on the ineffable experience of addiction and recovery. This lack of personal insight compromises their ability to truly understand and provide the full spectrum of recovery needs. When I began my addiction recovery, I was woefully disappointed in the available programs, as they were grotesquely expensive and nothing authentic and cerebral was available, no matter how committed I was. The multibillion-dollar recovery industry, with less than a nine percent success rate, needs an overhaul. The recovery industry regurgitates the same treatments, but AD sufferers deserve modern options that are appropriate for this progressive age. There are drugs in this new millennium that did not even exist when many of the current recoveries were established. Project Addiction is a usable, innovative, unconventional guide covering the entire spectrum of addictive drugs and behaviors: what it's like to use them, abuse them, be addicted to ungekürzt. This is not an ordinary audiobook. The SunRae Healing book was written in five continents and taken me nearly 10 years to complete. I have combined my natural phenomenal gifts with a scientific explanation of how healing energy works in different dimensions. I work with spirit guides and masters who over the last two decades have carefully moulded me into the spiritual healer I have become today. In this, I have been used as a channel for special and privileged information that I am honoured to donate. The privilege has always been mine. I investigate and break down phenomena explaining how if we adhere to Universal Laws though evoking the highest aspirations of the human condition that our spirit guides can draw close thus allowing healing energies from other realms to be harnessed to serve the greater good of patients in need. Over decades as I developed further, I realised this phenomena applied to influencing cancerous cells if spiritual conditions have been met by the patient. This of course is a huge subject as we are dealing with phenomena linked to past lives, karmic dispensations, soul contracts, life’s lessons etc. I explain how if we swim with the tide complete recoveries can occur while others who have successfully completed their earth walk can pass to spirit knowing they have completed their earthly task. The listener is taken through a step-by-step explanation of how I acquired and developed my gifts resulting in a cellular spiritual healing in the penultimate chapter. I make no apologies or justifications on how I understand and use phenomena as I endeavour to bridge the gap between science and spirituality, as effectively they are the same thing. I am a spiritual healer writing a book not a writer writing a spiritual book, but my works have been edited professionally as I endeavoured to be as precise as possible, not leaving explanations hanging in the air. ungekürzt. The Wall Street Journal called him “a living legend”. The London Times dubbed him “the most famous art detective in the world”. In Priceless, Robert K. Wittman, the founder of the FBI’s Art Crime Team, pulls back the curtain on his remarkable career for the first time, offering a real-life international thriller to rival The Thomas Crown Affair. Rising from humble roots as the son of an antique dealer, Wittman built a 20-year career that was nothing short of extraordinary. He went undercover, usually unarmed, to catch art thieves, scammers, and black market traders in Paris and Philadelphia, Rio and Santa Fe, Miami and Madrid. In this compelling memoir, Wittman fascinates with the stories behind his recoveries of priceless art and antiquities: The golden armor of an ancient Peruvian warrior king. The Rodin sculpture that inspired the Impressionist movement. The headdress Geronimo wore at his final pow-wow. The rare Civil War battle flag carried into battle by one of the nation’s first African-American regiments. The breadth of Wittman’s exploits is unmatched: He traveled the world to rescue paintings by Rockwell and Rembrandt, Pissarro, Monet and Picasso, often working undercover overseas at the whim of foreign governments. Closer to home, he recovered an original copy of the Bill of Rights and cracked the scam that rocked the PBS series Antiques Roadshow. By the FBI’s accounting, Wittman saved hundreds of millions of dollars worth of art and antiquities. He says the statistic isn’t important. After all, who’s to say what is worth more - a Rembrandt self-portrait or an American flag carried into battle? They're both priceless. In his final case, Wittman called on every bit of knowledge and experience in his arsenal to take on his greatest challenge: working undercover to track the vicious criminals behind what might be the most audacious art theft of all. ungekürzt. What colour is cancer? Why do some people appear to have made miraculous recoveries? How can you tell when someone is in the final hours of their life? How can we ensure our most vulnerable are treated with the dignity they deserve? In this unprecedented memoir, a palliative medicine pioneer explores the biggest taboo in our society and the only certainty we all share: death. Kathryn Mannix immortalises the thousands of men and women she has seen off. These unforgettable stories send an urgent message to the living, answering all our questions about the end-of-life process with touching honesty and humanity. Drawing on four decades of experience studying and practicing palliative care, Mannix shows us what happens when people are approaching the end of their lives: how they cope; how they live; what matters most; how dying evolves; what a deathbed is like; and how families react. Kathryn Mannix's stories, although drawn from her clinical practice, are those of our friends, our family, our partners. We learn about the body language of death through a young mother who raves the night away before falling into a forever slumber. The psychology of death, too, is illuminated, as with the endearing story of Sanjeev, an elderly man admitted to the hospital who is convinced he is on a night train to Delhi where he will meet his parents in the morning. A husband asks the doctor not to tell his wife of the fatality of her condition - the wife later confesses to having kept her husband in the dark about the finality of her illness to preserve him. These meditations tells us everything about the dying and their loved ones. With the End in Mind is a book for all of us: the grieving and bereaved, ill and healthy. It is also an insight into palliation as a mixture of teamwork with clinical detective work to find the origins of patients' symptoms in order offer the best possible living conditions towards the end. Mannix argues that with planning ungekürzt. Language: English. Narrator: Elizabeth Carling, Kathryn Mannix. Audio sample: https://samples.audible.de/bk/hcuk/003111/bk_hcuk_003111_sample.mp3.
