Reversing Burnout: How to Immediately Engage Top Talent and Grow! , Hörbuch, Digital, ungekürzt, 228min
The life most of us experience today is much different than the past. The realities of work and life have changed rapidly, and our busyness has made matters worse. Professional burnout and entrepreneurial burnout, as well as, diminishing employee engagement are costing us and our organizations and creating fewer winners at work and in life. The old approaches to employee retention and corporate culture no longer work, and greater corporate social responsibility is quickly moving to the forefront. Conventional thinking is not only ineffective today, it has actually resulted in damage and loss. The harm has been out-matched, however, and the result has been a steady migration by top professionals toward a better future - one they’re creating for themselves by pivoting away from their organizations as a result of burnout. Whether or not we have fully recognized it, “business as usual” has been disrupted, and the disruption - underscored by a lack of employee engagement and employee retention - is increasing in intensity and reach. Whether it’s because work is simply too consuming too much of the time - leaving us with very little time or energy for other things; because our careers don’t provide us the growth and excitement they once did; or because we are at the point in life where we want more, many professionals, executives, and other high achievers are exiting or poised to “pivot away” from their organizations - and even their careers - at unprecedented levels. Whether or not burnout is the reason, something’s gotta give. Individuals, organizations, and even industries are struggling, trying to make sense of it. We all need an answer. Reversing Burnout provides one. Reversing Burnout. How to Immediately Engage Top Talent and Grow! A Blueprint for Professionals and Business Owners employs a thorough and easy-to-follow engineering approach, unique to its author, to present the promise and the opportunities of the new professiona ungekürzt. Sharon: The Life of a Leader , Hörbuch, Digital, ungekürzt, 1109min
By the son and intimate confidant of former Israeli prime minister Ariel Sharon comes an unparalleled look at the life and work of one of the world’s most powerful leaders. “A multifaceted picture of an Israeli patriot, military leader, and family man” (Kirkus Reviews). From his youth as a soldier to his service in government, Ariel Sharon has personified Israel’s unyielding drive for security. He revolutionized the Israel Defense Forces and established the anti-terror commando Unit 101. His leadership during the Six-Day and Yom Kippur wars made him a national hero and propelled him into the political arena. As terror grew throughout the Middle East at the end of the twentieth century, Sharon’s commitment to protect and bring peace to his people underscored his election to prime minister in 2001. But within months of taking office, the 9/11 attacks shook the Western world - thrusting the controversial statesman into the center of international affairs. Sharon has walked a fine line between waging war on Israel’s enemies and accommodating demanding allies, a balancing act that is often subject to public misperception. As prime minister, he built a fence to separate Israel from the West Bank’s suicide bombers; he isolated Yasser Arafat in his Ramallah headquarters; and in a stunning and unprecedented move, he withdrew Israel’s settlements from Gaza. Throughout his life but especially as prime minister, Sharon kept a meticulous personal record of events and of the discussionshe had with world leaders, including George W. Bush, Tony Blair, Vladimir Putin, King Abdullah, Kofi Annan, Gerhard Schroeder, Jacques Chirac, Hosni Mubarak, Mahmoud Abbas, and others. But what the public knew of these interactions often differed dramatically from what went on in private. Gilad Sharon, the prime minister’s youngest son and close confidant, has combed through his father’s vast archive - conversations, personal notes, diaries, daybooks, military directi ungekürzt. The Boer War: The History and Legacy of the Conflict That Solidified British Rule in South Africa , Hörbuch, Digital, ungekürzt, 74min
The Boer War was the defining conflict of South African history and one of the most important conflicts in the history of the British Empire. Naturally, complicated geopolitics underscored it. The European history of South Africa began with the 1652 arrival of a small Dutch flotilla in Table Bay, at the southern extremity of the African continent, which made landfall with a view to establishing a victualing station to service passing Dutch East India Company (Vereenigde Oost-Indische Compagnie) ships. The Dutch at that point largely dominated the East Indian Trade, and it was their establishment of the settlement of Kaapstad, or Cape Town, that set in motion the lengthy and often turbulent history of South Africa. For over a century, the Cape remained a Dutch East India Company settlement, and in the interests of limiting expenses, strict parameters were established to avoid the development of a colony. As religious intolerance in Europe drove a steady trickle of outward emigration, however, Dutch settlers began to informally expand beyond the Cape, settling the sparsely inhabited hinterland to the north and east of Cape Town. In doing so, they fell increasingly outside the administrative scope of the Company, and they developed an individualistic worldview, characterized by self-dependence and self-reliance. They were also bonded as a society by a rigorous and literal interpretation of the Old Testament. In their wake, towards the end of the 17th century, followed a wave of French Huguenot immigrants, fleeing a renewal of anti-Protestantism in Europe. They were integrated over the succeeding generations, creating a hybridized language and culture that emerged in due course as the Cape Dutch, The Afrikaner or the Boer. The Napoleonic Wars radically altered the old, established European power dynamics, and in 1795, the British, now emerging as the globe’s naval superpower, assumed control of the Cape as part of the spoils of war. End Game: Irrational Acts, Tragic Consequences , Hörbuch, Digital, ungekürzt, 259min
It is the juxtaposition of factual and imaginary detail, real and fictitious characters, each underscored by footnotes or website research, that gives Theodore Cohen's work a signature style [that is] quite unique, enjoyable and thoroughly ingenious. (Gary Sorkin for Pacific Book Review)End Game: Irrational Acts, Tragic Consequences is book III of the Antarctic Murders Trilogy. In many ways, it brings to an end three things: the sagas of Captain Roberto Muñoz of the Lientur; the hunt for the millions of dollars in US and British cash, negotiable securities, gold coins, and jewelry stolen from the Banco Central de Chile following the Chilean Earthquake of May, 1960; and the murders that followed the robbery.Book I: Frozen in Time: Murder at the Bottom of the World, introduced American scientists Ted Stone and Grant Morris, who, while performing geological and geophysical field work with the assistance of Captain Roberto Muoz of the Chilean auxiliary tug Lientur, were caught up in the hunt for the robbers and the spoils from the robbery and murder.Unfinished Business: Pursuit of an Antarctic Killer introduced Captain Mateo Valderas and Lieutenant-Commander Antonio Del Ro of the Chilean Navy's Office of Internal Affairs. Initially assigned to solve a murder in Africa, they soon found themselves facing perhaps the most vicious, cunning thief and murderer they ever encountered. The return of American scientists Ted Stone and Grant Morris to Santiago for the purpose of helping personnel of the University of Chile prepare for the 20th Chilean Expedition to the Antarctic, beginning in December 1965, jeopardizes the lives of both scientists. What irrational acts will elicit the tragic consequences that finally bring everything to an end? For the answer, listen to book III: End Game: Irrational Acts, Tragic Consequences."Cutting-edge drama and suspense, revealing characters through con ungekürzt. Language: English. Wrath & Righteousness , Hörbuch, Digital, ungekürzt, 3227min
The world is on the brink. It was the last peace, the great peace, the deep breath before the storm. The Golden Age was closing and the heavens paused and waited for the long plunge ahead. Some people saw it coming. But they were few. The first episode of this geopolitical thriller sets up the start of an epic battle between Light and Darkness. Taking listeners from Saudi Arabia to Israel to Washington, D.C., and Chicago, Wrath & Righteousness is a frightening, torn-from-the-headlines peek into the future. The forces of Darkness, personified by a mysterious old man, have focused their efforts on a Saudi Prince who is second in line to the Royal House of Saud. By tempting the Prince with power beyond his wildest imagination, Lucifer and his servants have secured all of the pieces necessary to unleash Armageddon, turn allies against each other, and bring down the West. Freedom's only chance for survival rests with a group of people who do not even know they've been chosen for the job. More than a simple techno-thriller, Wrath & Righteousness examines the eternal battle between Good and Evil while also asking one of the fundamental questions of our existence: What is mankind's relationship to the spiritual world? Packed with thrilling action and underscored by a timeless story of war, love and spirituality, Wrath & Righteousness has been described by number one best-selling author Glenn Beck as "The Left Behind series for a new generation." The Osiris Myth: The History and Legacy of Ancient Egypt’s Most Important Mythological Legend , Hörbuch, Digital, ungekürzt, 149min
Africa may have given rise to the first human beings, and Egypt probably gave rise to the first great civilizations, which continue to fascinate modern societies across the globe nearly 5,000 years later. From the Library and Lighthouse of Alexandria to the Great Pyramid at Giza, the Ancient Egyptians produced several wonders of the world, revolutionized architecture and construction, created some of the world’s first systems of mathematics and medicine, and established language and art that spread across the known world. With world-famous leaders like King Tut and Cleopatra, it’s no wonder that today’s world has so many Egyptologists. To the ancient Egyptians, as was the case with any society made up of inquiring humans, the world was a confusing and often terrifying place of destruction, death, and unexplained phenomena. In order to make sense of such an existence, they resorted to teleological stories. Giving a phenomenon a story made it less horrifying, and it also helped them make sense of the world around them. Unsurprisingly, then, the ancient Egyptian gods permeated every aspect of existence. Given the abundance of funerary artifacts that have been found within the sands of Egypt, it sometimes seems as though the Ancient Egyptians were more concerned with the matters of the afterlife than they were with matters of the life they experienced from day to day. This is underscored most prominently by the pyramids, which have captured the world’s imagination for centuries. Thus, it’s little surprise that Osiris was one of the most important gods in the Egyptian pantheon, and he could well be the most famous of the Egyptian gods today. Aside from the ubiquity of the sun-god Ra in much of modern popular culture, it is Osiris who captivates the minds of modern readers most. His story is both familiar and strangely alien. He is the god of the dead, but he became so by the very fact of his mortality. All the gods of ancient Egypt were cap ungekürzt. Language: English. Narrator: Dan Gallagher. Osiris: The History and Legacy of the Ancient Egyptian God of the Dead , Hörbuch, Digital, ungekürzt, 76min

Aside from the ubiquity of the sun-god Re in much of modern popular culture, it is Osiris who captivates the minds of modern readers most. His story is both familiar and strangely alien. He is the god of the dead, but he became so by the very fact of his mortality. All the gods of ancient Egypt were capable of dying, but Osiris was also a symbol of resurrection, not unlike Christ in Christian theology. Osiris was betrayed by somebody close to him (in this case, his brother Seth) and was murdered and reborn, but here is where Osiris and Christ part ways. Osiris’ death is brutal, and his resurrection is the product of his wife Isis’ love for him. Furthermore, Osiris was associated with the kings of Egypt because the Egyptians believed he was a king himself. The ancient Egyptians could trace their kings back, one by one, to a time when the gods were believed to have ruled the land in person. Osiris was the third or fourth successo ungekürzt. The Book of the Dead: The History and Legacy of Ancient Egypt’s Famous Funerary Texts , Hörbuch, Digital, ungekürzt, 91min
Generations have viewed them as symbols of a lost past, which in turn is often portrayed as a world full of romance and mystery. This verbal meaning has become associated with the structures through the tourism industry, where intrigue obviously boosts ticket sales. In fact, the Egyptian pyramids are so old that they were also drawing tourists even in ancient times. In antiquity, the Great Pyramid of Giza was listed as one of Seven Ancient Wonders of the World, and it is the only one still surviving today. Though the ancient tombs have been extensively plundered, they still stand as gateways to the afterlife that provide a murky window into the past of a fascinating civilization. Most importantly, the relatively untouched tomb of the young King Tutankhamun offered clear insight. Many of the objects that were discovered in Tutankhamun’s tomb were clearly made specifically for him and his burial, such as the coffins, funerary masks, canopic equipment and statues. To accomplish all the necessities the Egyptians believed in, they relied on spells and invocations, which were collected in a series of funerary texts such as the Pyramid Texts. By the era of the New Kingdom, the most popular funerary text was The Book of the Dead, one of the most evocative titles of literature in the history of humankind. Its mystical writings offer a glimpse into a realm of magical thinking beyond the skills of most writers of fiction. The Book of the Dead has enraptured scholars and laymen for centuries. For that reason, it may surprise many that The Book of the Dead does not actually exist ungekürzt. Language: English. Narrator: Jim D. Johnston. In Defiance of Suffering
From the heart of coal country in Pottsville, Pennsylvania comes Faith In Exile's first full length album entitled 'In Defiance of Suffering.' The album draws it's influences from bands such as All That Remains, Lamb of God, Killswitch Engage, Katatonia, Soilwork and from the dark, gloomy feel of the the band's hometown. The result is an album that is brutally heavy at times, but always retains the melodic sensilbilites that Faith In Exile has become known for. The album was recorded at Throrium Productions in St. Clair, PA and was mastered by guru Alan Douches (Killswitch Engage, All That Remains, Black Dahlia Murder, Bullet For My Valentine) at West Westside Music in New York. The album features Ron Gubala's intricate and hard-hitting drumming complete with multiple tempo changes and melds many different drumming styles together. Allen Buehner completes the rhythm section, laying the foundation for the dueling guitars of Brandon Foti and vocalist/guitarist Rob Allison. The guitarists' styles meld together perfectly, but their own unique styles are able to stand out while being cohesive. Allison's shape-shifting vocals complete the songs, transforming from angelic clean to demonic screams in a split second, and are always underscored with a sense of urgency. The combination of all of these elements produces a unique sound that stands out in today's music scene. Take a listen for yourself!!- Shop: odax
