100 Steps in Faith: Revised 2nd Edition , Hörbuch, Digital, ungekürzt, 131min
Enhance your devotional life with Christian poetry! This collection of Christian poetry originally released in 2008 was the first 100 poems the author Tammy Varner Hornbeck wrote after she learned to live in her newfound faith. Journey with her as she grows in her faith - each poem is a step of faith and the way God speaks through her. Tammy believes that God loves His children so much that he will find a way to speak to them and that poetry was hers...perhaps it is yours too. She also strongly believes that Christian poetry is not a replacement for reading the Bible but should be used to enhance it. And so, she encourages listeners to use it as a tool to enhance their own devotional life and perhaps to pick up a pen and see if God wants to talk to them in the same way. ungekürzt. Faith, Hope...and the Greatest of These Is Love!: Revised 2nd Edition , Hörbuch, Digital, ungekürzt, 97min
Faith, hope...And the greatest of these is love!Tammy Varner Hornbeck has had one consistent thing in her life: God, who talks to her through poetry. In the beginning, as a teenager, God helped Tammy deal with the trials in her life through poetry. Although she knew it was a God-given gift, she was still not ready to surrender her life to Christ. Years later, after making that decision, her writing took a new path. Tammy still uses poetry to handle the trials in her life, but now she uses it to glorify God and as her ministry. Faith, Hope...and the Greatest of These Is Love! contains the first poems by Tammy given to God after her salvation and deliverance from alcoholism. Simple and to the point, the poems will touch the hearts of everyone who listens to them. Enhance your devotional life with Christian poetry! ungekürzt. Language: English. To the Best of Our Knowledge: Stories of You, Hörbuch, Digital, 52min
In this hour, so if our identities are just stories... what does that mean for our lives, our memories, our mental health? Jonathan Adler is a psychologist who studies narrative identity. He tells Jim Fleming that his research found that our sense of well-being is based on the tone of our internal narratives rather than the stories themselves. Then, Sara Nics explains the impetus behind this show... a lifetime of attempting to make peace with the stories we tell ourselves. Next, press your thumb to the bridge of your nose. Now draw it slowly over the crown of your head to about where you might have a ponytail. That area under your skull is where "you" are. Research suggests that region houses the web of neurons that holding our narrative identities. After that, Antoinetter Varner - also known as Gangaji - says she spent decades wrestling with and reshaping her narrative identity. But when she met her true spiritual teacher - a Hindu man vaguely alligned with the nondualist tradition - he told her to stop all stories. Gangaji says that's when she was finally able to connect with the "I" that underlies our selves. Steve Paulson asked Gangaji about her story, and the end of stories. Finally, Jonathan Harris is the creator behind We Feel Fine, I Want You to Want Me, and other projects using new media to reflect human experience. In his latest work, he’s bringing together a community of storytellers in the hopes that combining individual stories might reveal the ecstatic truth of human life. Harris talked with Anne Strainchamps about learning from our common stories, myths, and sagas. [Broadcast Date: February 22, 2012] Language: English. Moment of Clarity
Dan Phillips Trio 'Moment of Clarity' is the second release by the Dan Phillips Trio that features all original compositions. This release is the result of several years of working experience for Dan in Chicago with open-minded musicians . The Trio has developed an approach that allowed for improvisations that at times go in and out of forms and structures freely in the flow of the improvisation. This trio has a truly origianl sound with Krzysztof at times playing arco melodies like a cellist and Tim swinging hard and abstracting just when needed. Dan Phillips Bio Dan Phillips has been an international jazz guitarist, bandleader, educator and composer for more than fifteen years and during this time he has performed throughout North America, and Asia developing an original voice and approach to improvised music. The Dan Phillips Trio has been the primary vehicle for the expression of this voice and the Trio has taken on many forms in both New York and Chicago. The Chicago Trio is the one that has come into to it's own through two original recordings 'Journey in Mind' and 'Moment of Clarity' as well as through regular live performances. Dan began his pursuits as a student at Berklee College of Music in Boston. While at Berklee, Dan was selected as the guitarist to represent the College at the 1990 Montreal Jazz Festival. After graduating from Berklee in 1990 he moved to New York City and began his performing career. In New York he continued to lead his own groups as well as perform in a variety of settings as a free-lance guitarist. His ensembles included many of the new voices in improvised music such as Jim Black, Ben Street, Chris Speed, Owen Howard, John Arruccci, Pat Zimmerly and Mike Sarin. In 1996 he moved to Chicago and again began leading his own groups. These groups have included Tim Mulvenna, Chad Taylor, Krzysztof Pabian, Phil Gratteau and Tatsu Aoki among many others. He also returned to school and received a Masters in Jazz pedagogy from Northwestern Univesity. In 2001 Dan made a decision to broaden his experience by leaving the United States and absorbing himself in another culture and environment. He relocated to Bangkok, Thailand and began teaching fulltime and acting as Director of Jazz Studies at Mahidol University College of Music. While in Thailand he performed throughout the country became a well known free-lance guitarist. In 2004 Dan relocated yet again to Tokyo, Japan where he is a free-lance guitarist and band leader. After a Thailand Jazz Festival appearance and some Chicago gigs the Trio has reccorded a new CD 'Destination Unknown' to be released soon. Dan has also performed with many international musicians not prreviously mentioned such as: Gerald Wilson, Danillo Perez, Judy Roberts, Jeff Parker, Francois Lindemann, Rudresh Mahanthappa, Lalah Hathaway and Matt Darriau. Dan has performed at jazz festivals in Japan, Canada, Thailand and the U.S. Tim Mulvenna Bio Tim Mulvenna has been performaing, teaching and recording for the last decaded in Chicago as well as touring North America, Europe and Asia. Krzysztof has performed with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and the Chicago Civic Orchestra. He has also worked in an array of new music ensembles under the direction of Pierre Boulez, Daniel Baenboim, Christopher Eshenbach, Zubin Matha, Lawerence Foster, and Pinchas Zukerman. In the area of Jazz Krzysztof has performed with Danillo Perez, Judy Roberts, Max Roach, Ron Blake and the Lincoln Center Jazz Sextet. Krzysztof has toured throughout North America, Europe and Asia. "The first impact Phillips makes is with his sense of swing and thick notes that fall from his guitar.......he opens the vista in a swell of notes that cut, roll and sweep ahead in a near torrent.....The textures weave and bob, taking flight on the wings of their imagination. Phillips....makes the experience interesting by taking a turn, breaking up a rhythm, and scattering the edifice. In the unknown lies welcome surprise." (review of Dan Phillips Trio "A Moment of Clarity" ?allaboutjazz.com 1/2005 "....thoughtful and swinging......creates a lot of intriguing colors and not afraid to go out harmonically...It is wonderful to hear music of this high caliber coming from such limited materials. Doing so much with so little is a rarity, and it requires the kind of musical intelligence of a Dan Phillips."
