TANYC hat hier ein multitexturelles Pop-Album scheinbar aus dem Ärmel geschüttelt, das jeden audiophilen Soundjünger erstmal für ein paar Monate zwischen seine Hörmuscheln schicken wird. Hier drin ist so viel zu entdecken wie hineingesteckt wurde und wahrscheinlich noch viel mehr.TANYC ist allerdings alles andere als eine Unbekannte, als Teil des Duos CAMA feierte sie längst Major-Erfolge. Auch wenn man das üppige Arrangement von "Again" und das epische Whammy-Gitarrensolo hört, ist einem bald klar, dass hier eine ganze Riege an Edel-Musikern agiert. Der Ausnahmeviolinist Tom Norris stellt seine Fähigkeiten sonst dem London Symphony Orchestra zur Verfügung und der israelische Schlagzeuger und Perkussionist Nir Zidkyahu veredelte bereits John Mayers Debüt. Sie gehören ebenso zu dieser Vision wie der deutsche Gitarrist Kalle Wallner, der mit seiner Band RPWL seit über zwanzig Jahren sehr erfolgreich ist.Aber über allem thront diese Stimme. Mal engelsgleich glasklar, mal Vintage Soul, mal Femme fatale, es ist nicht einfach dieser Stimme einen eindeutigen Charakter zu verpassen und es wäre auch nicht der richtige Ansatz bei einer künstlerischen Vision die so groß ausgelegt ist. Der sakrale Charakter eines Songs wie "Labyrinth" oder das opulente Outro von "This Dream" stellen ein helles Licht in dieser Zeit dar, TANYC hätte problemlos ein reines Vocal-Werk veröffentlichen können. Der krönende, meditative Abschluss dieses Albums, "Over and Over", beweist das. Aber power in numbers ist nun einmal ein Naturgesetz, deshalb lud sich TANYC auch noch Duettpartner ins Studio ein. "Never ask twice" ist ein lupenreiner noir Film-Soundtrack mit Spaghetti-Western Twang-Gitarre und stellt auch den amerikanischen Expat-Rock n' Roller Aaron Brooks groß in Szene.TANYC scheint die Antworten in unsicheren Zeiten zu haben, oder sie hat einfach ihre eigene Welt erschaffen. Dies hier ist erwachsene Musik, Sarkasmus und jugendliche Oberflächlichkeiten sucht man hier vergebens, beziehungsweise gar nicht. Hier sucht man definitive, sorgsam und detailverliebt konstruierte künstlerische Statements die aus der Feder von virtuosen Eleven der gehobenen Popmusik ersonnen wurden.
