Listening to the Bible will change the way you understand scripture. The stories and poems and instructions comes in through the ears and consume your whole being as God's word becomes part of a living experience. The Common English Bible is not simply a revision or update of an existing translation. It is a bold new translation designed to meet the needs of Christians as they work to build a strong and meaningful relationship with God through Jesus Christ. A key goal of the translation team was to make the Bible accessible to a broad range of people; it’s written at a comfortable level for over half of all English speakers. As the translators did their work, specialists working with 77 reading groups from more than a dozen denominations reviewed the texts and read them aloud to ensure a smooth and natural listening experience. Easy readability can enhance church worship and participation, and personal Bible study. It also encourages children and youth to discover the Bible for themselves, perhaps for the very first time. Who is it for? The Common English Bibleis committed to the whole church of Jesus Christ. To achieve this, the CEB represents the work of a diverse team with broad scholarship, including the work of over 120 scholars - men and women from 24 faith traditions in American, African, Asian, European, and Latino communities. As a result, the English translation of ancient words has an uncommon relevance for a broad audience of Bible readers - from children to scholars. ungekürzt. Language: English. Are young children really sexual? You don't mean they are sexual like adults, do you? No, I don't mean that they are sexual like adolescents or adults. But the course of human sexuality begins in utero and continues throughout childhood and adolescence into adulthood. This book traces the course of that development from infancy onward, explaining how a sense of maleness or femaleness develops in infancy and how knowledge of sexuality grows and matures throughout childhood and adolescence. Understanding the nature of sexuality in childhood and adolescence is extremely valuable in raising children because it provides parents and other adults with an understanding of what is happening mentally and physically to the child or adolescent and guidelines for how to interact, answer questions and guide children toward the development of healthy sexuality. Based on 50 years of treating children and adolescence, and raising three of his own, child and adult psychiatrist and psychoanalyst, Calvin A. Colarusso M.D. provides, in plain English, multiple examples of interactions between parents and children on this critical and fascinating aspect of development. Think of this book as a guide to understanding a subject that many adults know little about, and some disbelieve. Why Size Matters: Child and Adolescent Sexuality provides information on the following subjects: The formation of sexual identity in infancy. The discovery of genital difference in males and females. The meaning of infantile sexuality. The competitiveness of the three to six year old. Why size matters -and it's not what you think. Why elementary school boys and girls hate each other. The profound effects of puberty. Infatuation, sex and love in adolescence. About the author: An eminent authority in the field of child and adolescent development, Dr. Colarusso is a Board Certified, Clinical Pr ungekürzt. Language: English. Narrator: Ken Maxon. Young Nevare Burvelle is the second son of a second son. Traditionally in Gernia, the firstborn son is heir to the family fortunes, the second son bears a sword and the third son is consecrated to the priesthood. Nevare will follow his father - newly made a lord by the King - into the cavalry; to the frontier and thence to an advantageous marriage, to carry on the Burvelle name. It is a golden future, and Nevare looks forward to it with relish. For twenty years King Troven's cavalry have pushed the frontiers of Gernia out across the grasslands, subduing the fierce tribes of the plain on its way. Now they have driven the frontier as far as the Barrier Mountains, home to the enigmatic Speck people. The Specks - a dapple-skinned, forest-dwelling folk - retain the last vestiges of magic in a world which is becoming progressive and technologized. The 'civilised' peoples base their beliefs on a rational philosophy founded on scientific principle and a belief in the good god, who displaced the older deities of their world. To them, the Specks are primeval savages, little better than beasts. Superstitions abound; it is said that they harbour strange diseases and worship trees. Sexual congress with them is regarded as both filthy and foolhardy: the Speck plague which has ravaged the frontier has decimated entire regiments. All these beliefs will touch Nevare's training at the Academy; but his progress there is not as simple as he would wish. He will experience prejudice from the old aristocracy: as the son of a 'new noble' he is segregated into a patrol comprising other new nobles' sons, all of whom will encounter injustice, discrimination and foul play in that hostile and deeply competitive environment. In addition, his world view will be challenged by his unconventional girl-cousin Epiny; and by the bizarre dreams which visit him at night. And then, on Dark Evening, the circus comes to Old Thares, bringing with it the first Specks Nevare has ever seen…/ ungekürzt. Language: English. Narrator: Jonathan Barlow.
