Meditation
This album is the collaboration of trombonist Roger Dixon, and pianist Sonia Tubridy. It is a collection of some of the most beautiful romantic period music you will ever hear. This music was chosen because of it's meditative, lyrical qualities which lend itself well to a trombone and piano duo. I like to think of this album as 'live'. Although it was recorded in a studio, it has the feeling of a live performance. The trombone microphone was situated just a few feet in front of the bell of my horn, giving the sound a very intimate quality, every nuance of sound is there for all to hear, including the aerie quality of very soft notes and the occasional sound of my breath. No extraordinary measures were taken in the editing process. Most of the tracks were recorded in one take and what you hear sounds very close to what it would have been like to stand in that studio during the time of recording.
