Through It All I've Always Laughed: Memoirs of Count Arthur Strong , Hörbuch, Digital, ungekürzt, 292min
Count Arthur Strong reads the story of his extraordinary journey from his humble early years as the only son of a contortionist in wartime Doncaster to the dizzy heights and excesses of fame as one of the shining lights of popular entertainment. Count Arthur Strong is a show business legend, after-dinner speaker and a leading authority on Ancient Egypt, having been stationed there during his nation service. He has countless friends in the showbiz world. People like Barry Cryer, the white haired one with glasses off I'm Sorry I Haven't Got A Clue and Jokers Wild. This is his first volume, of what he believes may be a six volume collection, of his memoirs. He has a few select dates still available for anything (except window cleaning) and is represented, (if you can call it that) by Richard Daws at Komedia Entertainment. (Or if you want to go directly through me and pay cash, I can do that as well.) (In fact I prefer that.) Thank you. ungekürzt. Language: English. Narrator: Count Arthur Strong. Technology for Unleashing Creativity (eBook, PDF)
Traditional music education centered around the ensemble classroom has often privileged reading music and instrumental technique over creative skills such as composition, improvisation, and learning by ear. As the technological landscape of students' everyday lives rapidly shifts, what schools teach rarely aligns with students' more creative day-to-day lives outside of the classroom. While administrators and state education standards often encourage incorporating creative technologies into the music curriculum, many music teachers lack the training to successfully utilize these tools and platforms. In Technology for Unleashing Creativity, author Steve Giddings provides a practical and easily accessible resource for in-service and pre-service K-12 teachers looking to make better use of technology in their teaching and help heighten students' creativity. One of few authors to tackle both issues simultaneously, Giddings offers a guide for inspiring creativity in students through tools like YouTube learning, notation technology, DAWs, electronic instruments, online pedagogical platforms, and more. A technology-driven approach to music education has never been timelier. COVID-19 has significantly disrupted the business-as-usual of educational institutions, and music educators especially have adapted to teaching remotely. Via practical tips, visual diagrams, and lesson plan ideas, Technology for Unleashing Creativity walks music teachers through the core aspects of using technology in their classrooms--in-person and remote--offering a definitive guide to creativity and technology in K-12 music education.- Shop: buecher

The Ology of Isms: A Nigerian Twist on The Emperor's New Clothes, Hörbuch, Digital, 20min
The Ology of Isms is a Nigerian twist on Hans Christian Anderson's classic fairy tale "The Emperor's New Clothes", written by Nigerian playwright Emmanuel Adeleye. This radio theater production is produced by Joe Bevilacqua and features sound effects, music, and a full cast. Emmanuel Adeleye was born in Nigeria in 1961. After graduating high school, he worked with the Nigerian Television Authority and with the Federation Radio Corporation of Nigeria as a playwright, actor, and artist. He then came to the United States, where he studied theater at Kean College (now Kean University) in Union, New Jersey. In 1981 Adeleye teamed with Joe Bevilacqua to create The Ology of Isms, his first radio play ever presented in the United States. It first aired on WKNJ Radio and later on Sirius-XM Satellite Radio. Joe Bevilacqua, also known as Joe Bev, is primarily known as a radio theater dramatist. However, his career has taken him into every aspect of show business, including stage, film, and television as a producer, director, writer, actor, and even cartoonist. In 1971 Bevilacqua's father bought him a cassette recorder on which he created his first audio story, Willoughby and the Professor. He acted all the voices himself at the age of 12. In 1975 Daws Butler, the voice of Yogi Bear and many Hanna-Barbera and Jay Ward cartoon characters, dubbed himself Joe Bev's personal mentor after hearing a 120-minute cassette of Bev's Willoughby improvisations. Since 1980 Bevilacqua has produced many award-winning radio programs for National Public Radio, Sirius-XM Satellite Radio, and others. Language: English. Narrator: Peter Cummings. Push (eBook, PDF)
Push: Software Design and the Cultural Politics of Music Production shows how changes in the design of music software in the first decades of the twenty-first century shaped the production techniques and performance practices of artists working across media, from hip-hop and electronic dance music to video games and mobile apps. Emerging alongside developments in digital music distribution such as peer-to-peer file sharing and the MP3 format, digital audio workstations like FL Studio and Ableton Live introduced design affordances that encouraged rapid music creation workflows through flashy, "user-friendly" interfaces. Meanwhile, software such as Avid's Pro Tools attempted to protect its status as the "industry standard," "professional" DAW of choice by incorporating design elements from pre-digital music technologies. Other software, like Cycling 74's Max, asserted its alterity to "commercial" DAWs by presenting users with nothing but a blank screen. These are more than just aesthetic design choices. Push examines the social, cultural, and political values designed into music software, and how those values become embodied by musical communities through production and performance. It reveals ties between the maximalist design of FL Studio, skeuomorphic design in Pro Tools, and gender inequity in the music products industry. It connects the computational thinking required by Max, as well as iZotope's innovations in artificial intelligence, with the cultural politics of Silicon Valley's "design thinking." Finally, it thinks through what happens when software becomes hardware, and users externalize their screens through the use of MIDI controllers, mobile media, and video game controllers. Amidst the perpetual upgrade culture of music technology, Push provides a model for understanding software as a microcosm for the increasing convergence of globalization, neoliberal capitalism, and techno-utopianism that has come to define our digital lives.- Shop: buecher
