Ten short stories with a long past, the songs of DUST explore dark corners of American legend-keelboat toughs to sideshow freaks. Lucas's acoustic guitar is the pulse throughout while his B3 and Telecaster create atmospherics-no jangle but lots of groove for organic arrangements that swell and fade. Bleu Mortensen, of Lyle Lovett fame, plays the soulful pedal steel of the Orbison-esque 'Gold' and also the singing dobro of 'Last Things,' the album's heartbreaker. He and Lucas are joined by fiddle virtuoso Jenée Fleenor, whose brilliant bow is front and center on a rip-roaring 'Lost John.'

GEISHA - "YESTERDAY, TODAY AND TOMORROW" Geisha emerged from the early '80s Melbourne Australia glam-rock scene with vital points of difference. They had an art-rock sensibility, a sense of visuals and image from leader Chris Doheny's love for story-telling, film-making, Bauhaus-style architecture, and an interest in alternate lifestyles including the books of Satanist Aleister Crowley. From their very first show, at the Chelsea Hotel in April 1983, they bonded with their audience. "You lot are amazing, can we take you home with us?" Doheny quipped. He'd later recall, "I'd been playing around the traps since I was 17. This was the first time that I felt a spark, and the audience felt it too." Unlike many of the acts of the time, Geisha could actually play. Among the dozen or so players who passed through the ranks were Chris Tabone who later joined The Badloves, guitarist Rob Dean from British band Japan, keyboardist Laurence Maddy who has since won film awards for his soundtracks, and guitarist Ken Sheppard who is a record producer and runs a studio on the Gold Coast. The 2009 version of the band includes Geisha, guitarist Joe Matera and drummer Tom Hosie who'd played in an earlier incarnation. Geisha notched up eight Top 10 hits between 1985 and 1987 and two albums Geisha and Midnight To Dawn, on EMI Music. Yesterday, Today And Tomorrow collects 12 of the best tracks, which are both intimate and confessional while being invigorating and anthemic. "Fool's Way" is about the time Doheny tried to kill himself following a break up with a long-time love. When he left hospital the next day, "I felt the most serene I had ever felt." "Rainy Day" told of the secret relationship he had with the girl who became his first wife, as she was still with someone else at the time. The live favourite "Girl Like You" heralded Geisha's jingle-jangle period, with 12-string Rickenbacker and National Steel guitars. Their Australian #1 hit "Kabuki" might not have made them overnight stars in Japan. But the head of Manhattan Records in America loved the song, flew out to Sydney to catch one of their shows, and signed them up that night for an American deal. Unfortunately, due to a leadership change at EMI Music Australia, the US label cooled off. Included on Yesterday, Today And Tomorrow are two singles from 2009 through Diamond Dog Records - "Birthday" (accompanied by Liam Firmager's acid-soaked video with a number of mysterious references which created a lot of interest on the internet) and "Mystery Writer". Both were made with US producer Tom Werman (Cheap Trick, Motley Crue, Twisted Sister) and reflect the hard rock aggression of guitarist Joe Matera, who'd been a fan of the early lineups. "It took me quite awhile to get over the surrealism of standing onstage in Geisha, playing alongside Chris Doheny," Matera admits. Rounding off Yesterday, Today And Tomorrow are two covers that reflect the many dimensions of Geisha. They pay homage to the conspiratorially intricate harmonies of The Beatles' "Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band" and the melodic gustiness of The Small Faces' "Tin Soldier" which fires a fuse from the first note to the last. The current Geisha lineup is working on new material, with interest from U.S. and European tour promoters. Doheny toured the USA in late 2007. Chris Doheny has written songs for global acts as Terri Nunn of Berlin and Andrew Ridgeley of Wham! While Joe Matera's byline appears in numerous music magazines around the world. Their work with Geisha has gained them international celebrity fans. "Geisha rock! I have heard some of their music and thought it was great," said Elliot Easton from The Cars. "Geisha play proper rock with attitude," according to Steve Harley of "Come Up And See Me" fame. "It's been a long time, too long, since a really international hit band came out of Oz. Geisha could be the answer." - CHRISTIE ELIEZER, Pollstar Magazine, USA.

Jon Siddall has been writing instrumental music for a long time, in fact he's been writing minimalist music since the late 1970's, but this his first solo album, 'One' It's music that let's you think, but rewards a close listen. 'One' captures performances in historic Sun Studio in Memphis and Capitol Studios in Los Angeles as well as hometown Vancouver. The music uses the sounds of popular music and transforms them into dreamy landscapes. The opening track 'Dreamy Around' employs six electric guitars and three electric bass guitars, but as the title suggests the musical result in not a jangle of twang but rather an engaging texture of gong like guitars each contributing subtle strands of sound to the fabric of the music. The following track, 'Remember' was recorded on the Nat King Cole's favourite piano at Capitol Studios. 'Stardust Patterns' transforms the bluesy moan of the harmonica into a wistful atmosphere. The album closes with another transformation - in this case involving the bass clarinet. As a music producer Siddall has worked with some of the biggest names in pop, rock, jazz and classical music. He founded the Evergreen Club gamelan and directs the Gamelan Si Pawit. Siddall's teachers include John Cage, Lou Harrison, Terry Riley and James Tenney. Over the years Siddall's own music has been commissioned, performed and recorded by various ensembles. Now for the first time there is a collection of his music on one album - 'One.'

Delivering twelve tracks worth of deeply harmonic and engaging music that ably blends elements of twangy country, rootsy folk, and rousing rock into one hell of a rich, tasty, and arresting sonic stew, this album certainly hits the stirring and melodic spot somethin' sweet. The nasal and reedy, yet pleasant and affecting vocals convey emotion with exquisite clarity and galvanizing vitality. The arrangements keep things tuneful and hoppin' throughout. The smart and thoughtful songwriting likewise impresses with it's strong sense of economy and refreshing dearth of sappy sentiment. Best of all, there's a real sweet warmth and glowing humanity that rings through loud and clear in every last radiant note. A lovely and touching slice of pure heartfelt Americana. Joe Wawrzyniak - Jersey Beat "There are bands that have a timeless quality to their music, and there are bands that are clearly tethered to a certain generation. The Redemption Center is a band that strikes a balance between the two, being both timeless and timely. The music, a mix between the jangle pop of the Gin Blossoms and country twang of Ryan Adams, makes for interesting results on Land of Plenty." Eric Farwell, The Aquarian Weekly 'The new record 'Land Of Plenty' is an instantly engaging blend of gritty hooks, intelligent lyrics and heartfelt vocals. Smith's soulful song-craft is a great addition to the roots rock world and fans of Steve Earle and the Vigilantes Of Love are sure to be pleased.' Nick Young - Burning Daylight (Jun 17, 2010) 'The Redemption Center breathes new vitality into 'Heartland Rock', aided by effective and lively playing which sustains the intensity that the form requires. Add to this some compelling and sneakily uplifting lyrics delivered with a distinctive voice that oozes personality and you get music that you'll want to go back to again and again.' 'Nice work, and no surprise. I'm already a fan of 'The Boy Who Shed His Skin', a song that can easily stand comparison with the work of Mark Heard or T-Bone Burnett! The lyrics are thoughtful and manage to be complex without being unwieldy. ' Songwriter - Melbourne,Australia - DC Cardwell (Jan 5, 2010) 'An amalgam of rock, gospel, roots and folk. Rural but not Country. Lyrically intelligent, musically relevant.Looking ahead while tipping the hat to earlier influences. This music would fit comfortable in the Americana genre, if not for the pop and rock seasoning.' The Blind Armadillo (Sep 4, 2009)
