ABOUT RADARS TO THE SKY 'Literary and historical allusions crop up on 'Prufrock,' which sparkles with chiming post-punk guitars as Andrew Spitser confides with a Morrissey-like sense of regret, 'The crashing waves drown out all I say.' He duets with his keyboardist-wife Kate Post Spitser on 'Long Walk Home,' where his jangly guitar spirals blend enchantingly into her breathy delivery. 'Big Bang' evolves from a spacy, languid intro with it's flickering scrapes of Television-style chords into an impressively stormy landscape of whirring keyboards and crashing guitars.' - LA Weekly 'Five intense volleys of indie rock with arcs back to a time indie rock was less self-conscious. The gnarly interplay between guitarists and the time signatures might bring Pavement or Sebadoh to mind.... Big and bold (and tender, when Kate Spitser's vocals enter the mix), rock whose working-class trappings disguise an essayist's soul.' - LA Times Buzz Bands 'Radars to the Sky are easily among the best new live indie rock acts in LA.... They have tons of off-kilter charm and really deliver live.... Your new favorite live band.' - Radio Free Silverlake 'The energy they exuded was unfathomable. Any time I tried to look for somebody else, buy a drink at the bar, or write some notes I would immediately have my attention taken back by whatever was happening on stage.' 'They are purveyors of an epic sound that demands and thrives on an excellent soundsystem. Their clever musical moves, swift guitar flourishes, keys that haunt beneath the skin of the thing, Andrew Spitser's undeniable voice, and their penchant for roping you in with the beat and rhythm were as engaging as any piece of musical entertainment you could ask for.'- Classical Geek Theatre 'If all is right in the world, these guys should be the next big thing out of Silverlake.' - Between Love and Like (NYC) 'Radars To The Sky proved to be extremely worthy of their residency at the Echo with a compelling performance.... 'Victoria' was a dynamic blast of frantic guitars and bouncy keyboards that were pulled together nicely by Andrew's longing vocals.' - Little Radio 'Headliners Radars to the Sky constructed a tight, furiously whiplashed set list of pounding, literate, and intricately arranged indie rock, surrounded by the twinned bookends, "You Take it To Heart" and "Big Bang." The two songs glide from aching balladic drifts to shattered rhythm and brass implosions (sax and trumpet lines crossweave on "Heart") of Seamus Simpson's knotty, finger-bled guitar lines, the spaced bliss of Kate Spitser's keyboards, and vocalist Andrew Spitser's impassioned howls.' 'It was a show that easily carried the epic swagger of a headliner.' - Web In Front 'The EP begins with 'Long Walk Home,' a fuzzy, charming duet that has all the importance and hook of the best indie singles.... 'I Might' is the real revelation here: the drumming is some of the best around, and the fast pace and booming vocal tracks show off the best parts of this excellent new band.... This may be the best EP of 2008.' - Berkeley Place 'The buzz on this band has been steadily brewing.' - Rock Insider 'They combine the traditional indie rock guitar centered, multiple-part stylings of bands such as Built to Spill, Modest Mouse, and Pavement with some more traditional rock elements and then throw in a bit of alternative country introspection along the lines of Wilco to form their very own indie rock perspective.' - Epitunes 'Their live show is incredibly strong and Andrew, the lead singer, has an incredible stage presence that makes the band a joy to watch.' - Floating Away.- Shop: odax

Boombox Seance
Boombox Séance is equal parts indie-folk and dance-floor electronica. Their sound involves heavy beats, keys and ukuleles played through loop pedals and features the acrobatic vocal harmonies of Baltimore's Victoria Vox and Seattle's Aaron English. The music is urgent, uplifting and danceable, while the lyrics address often-taboo social issues such as addiction and domestic violence with hope, honesty, humor and a message of empowerment. The two members of Boombox Séance met in June 2012 at the SteelBridge Songfest, an event in Sturgeon Bay, WI that brings together songwriters from all over the world for a week of collaborative writing and performances. Vox and English (along with Alabama-based songwriter Jim Troglen) co-wrote their first songs together, 'Trouble' and 'Denial', at the festival...and Boombox Séance was born. The debut album was recorded in October and December 2012 in Seattle with producer, Geoff Stanfield (Sun Kil Moon, Firehorse). Baltimore-based singer-songwriter and ukulele player Victoria Vox has been touring throughout North America, Europe and Australia since 2006. She has been featured on NPR, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, and in independent films, and performed at uke festivals around the world. Along the way, he scored a Top 20 hit on U.S. radio with his song 'Believe' and a Top 5 hit on Italian radio with his interpretation of The Beatles' classic 'Norwegian Wood'. This Car Up
An eight-piece horn band, Full Tilt encapsulates everything musical that is 70's funk, rock, and soul. From The Commodores, Stevie Wonder, Kool and The Gang, Earth Wind & Fire, James Brown, Chicago, as well as a long list of other funky flavors, Full Tilt never fails to impress the most finicky of club goers. With their powerful sound, Full Tilt engages audiences from the first note to the last with ever increasing showmanship, crowd interaction, and most importantly, flawless musical performance. Based out of York, Pennsylvania, Full Tilt currently tours the Mid-Atlantic region, but has been known to venture further. In addition to filling the dance floors at the hottest local clubs, Full Tilt enjoys regular appearances at the new Pennsylvania casinos, outdoor concerts, weddings and private events, and shares the stage with the likes of The Chi-Lites, Major Harris, and The Delfonics. This Car Up is the 1997 offering of all original material released by Full Tilt on the Cafe Records label. The creative juices were overflowing that year with keyboardist extraordinaire George Crist acting as the major songwriter for this project, along with contributions from trumpeter Gary Stump, lead vocalist Curtis Roberts, and trombonist/ founding member Harley Felton. Technology took a back seat to gutsy horn powered rock on this righteously "old school" collection of irresistible grooves. There's no shortage of outstanding musicianship on this diverse, well-rounded album. From driving funk/rock, to ballad heaven, This Car Up proves the artistic prowess of this group of exceptionally gifted songwriters and performers. Full Tilt is evidence that good music lasts forever. Enjoy. Over and over.- Shop: odax

Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow
GEISHA - "YESTERDAY, TODAY AND TOMORROW" Geisha emerged from the early '80s Melbourne Australia glam-rock scene with vital points of difference. They had an art-rock sensibility, a sense of visuals and image from leader Chris Doheny's love for story-telling, film-making, Bauhaus-style architecture, and an interest in alternate lifestyles including the books of Satanist Aleister Crowley. From their very first show, at the Chelsea Hotel in April 1983, they bonded with their audience. "You lot are amazing, can we take you home with us?" Doheny quipped. He'd later recall, "I'd been playing around the traps since I was 17. This was the first time that I felt a spark, and the audience felt it too." Unlike many of the acts of the time, Geisha could actually play. Among the dozen or so players who passed through the ranks were Chris Tabone who later joined The Badloves, guitarist Rob Dean from British band Japan, keyboardist Laurence Maddy who has since won film awards for his soundtracks, and guitarist Ken Sheppard who is a record producer and runs a studio on the Gold Coast. The 2009 version of the band includes Geisha, guitarist Joe Matera and drummer Tom Hosie who'd played in an earlier incarnation. Geisha notched up eight Top 10 hits between 1985 and 1987 and two albums Geisha and Midnight To Dawn, on EMI Music. Yesterday, Today And Tomorrow collects 12 of the best tracks, which are both intimate and confessional while being invigorating and anthemic. "Fool's Way" is about the time Doheny tried to kill himself following a break up with a long-time love. When he left hospital the next day, "I felt the most serene I had ever felt." "Rainy Day" told of the secret relationship he had with the girl who became his first wife, as she was still with someone else at the time. The live favourite "Girl Like You" heralded Geisha's jingle-jangle period, with 12-string Rickenbacker and National Steel guitars. Their Australian #1 hit "Kabuki" might not have made them overnight stars in Japan. But the head of Manhattan Records in America loved the song, flew out to Sydney to catch one of their shows, and signed them up that night for an American deal. Unfortunately, due to a leadership change at EMI Music Australia, the US label cooled off. Included on Yesterday, Today And Tomorrow are two singles from 2009 through Diamond Dog Records - "Birthday" (accompanied by Liam Firmager's acid-soaked video with a number of mysterious references which created a lot of interest on the internet) and "Mystery Writer". Both were made with US producer Tom Werman (Cheap Trick, Motley Crue, Twisted Sister) and reflect the hard rock aggression of guitarist Joe Matera, who'd been a fan of the early lineups. "It took me quite awhile to get over the surrealism of standing onstage in Geisha, playing alongside Chris Doheny," Matera admits. Rounding off Yesterday, Today And Tomorrow are two covers that reflect the many dimensions of Geisha. They pay homage to the conspiratorially intricate harmonies of The Beatles' "Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band" and the melodic gustiness of The Small Faces' "Tin Soldier" which fires a fuse from the first note to the last. The current Geisha lineup is working on new material, with interest from U.S. and European tour promoters. Doheny toured the USA in late 2007. Chris Doheny has written songs for global acts as Terri Nunn of Berlin and Andrew Ridgeley of Wham! While Joe Matera's byline appears in numerous music magazines around the world. Their work with Geisha has gained them international celebrity fans. "Geisha rock! I have heard some of their music and thought it was great," said Elliot Easton from The Cars. "Geisha play proper rock with attitude," according to Steve Harley of "Come Up And See Me" fame. "It's been a long time, too long, since a really international hit band came out of Oz. Geisha could be the answer." - CHRISTIE ELIEZER, Pollstar Magazine, USA.- Shop: odax
