Das Verhältnis der Schweizer Heidi gegenüber, kann im Gegensatz zu Japanern, Amerikanern und den Deutschen ("Heidi" erschien zuerst in Deutschland), die das Kind schon immer in ihr Herz geschlossen hatten, als durchaus gespalten bezeichnet werden; sie war ihnen zurecht peinlich. Die Heidi-Idylle war ihnen einfach zu kitschig und sie wollten nicht als auf Heu schlafende, Geissen hütende in heiler Welt lebende Naturburschen angesehen werden.
