L'intenzione è quella di discutere l'esperienza etnografica del processo di visitare i morti come un modo di essere ricordati, prestando attenzione ai processi sociali ed economici intorno a questo giorno. Un'attenzione speciale sarà data alla visita di una tomba specifica, quella della ragazza Maria di Lourdes, per la sua rilevanza simbolica nel luogo. L'obiettivo è quello di problematizzare i processi di contemporaneità sulla visita nel giorno dei morti e di pensare al cimitero come uno spazio significativo nella comprensione di un'organizzazione sociale, come parte fondamentale di una cultura, e anche come testimone della storia di una società. In questo senso, comprendiamo il cimitero come una costruzione storica fatta da processi di allontanamento, stupore e igiene intorno alla morte e ai morti. In questo modo, la percezione delle dinamiche sociali che circondano il cimitero con le sue pratiche socio-culturali, e le relazioni costruite tra gli individui hanno aiutato a comprendere lo spazio del cimitero non solo come luogo di morte.

Queste simboleggiano le relazioni fallimentari, le situazioni insidiose che portano a screditare la donna e a danneggiarla su diversi fronti. La posizione di Puggelli è molto chiara anche in merito a un'annosa questione: è la donna il sesso forte, anche per questo va rivalutata. L'autore riporta dati scientifici che ne dimostrano la forza fisica, la longevità e altre caratteristiche, come la pragmaticità e la capacità di sopravvivere a momenti della vita drammatici. In conclusione, descrive la sua esperienza con alcune donne importanti della sua vita, esaltandone le qualità ed esprimendo la più totale gratitudine e ammirazione. L'augurio è, infine, che le spine della rosa diventino sempre meno aguzze e che la donna, dunque, ottenga finalmente la sua indipendenza.
