Join Paul "Cavs" Cavalieri on a journey through graffiti history and the evolution of a major cultural landmark. In this account, Cavs shares his experiences under the Bronx's East 238th Street bridge, which over the years has become a Bronx "Graffiti Hall of Fame," through an astonishing, lifelong photographic diary. This is a compilation of subway graffiti from 1983 to 1989, when the MTA announced that its fleet was entirely graffiti-free. More than 325 color photos capture everything from motion-bombed train interiors riddled with pilot marker tags to epic works covering whole exteriors, top to bottom. Artists tell their tales of adventure throughout and reminisce about working on live third rails, navigating the complex subway system to find their works, and witnessing graffiti's gradual disappearance from the trains. This book presents a nostalgic look at 1980s New York City and the street artists that gave it soul.

Verso la sera degli otto giugno del 1798 in quel tratto di mare che divide Malta dalla Sicilia veleggiava un legno che alla snella sua forma, alle due vele auriche o latine che s’innalzavano su due lunghe antenne poste a croce, di leggieri si poteva riconoscere per una speronara maltese. Si moveva lenta lenta sulla superfice del mare lievemente increspata. Il sole calava rapidissimo ed i raggi uno dopo l’altro gli cadevano dalla fronte: presto toccò l’onda, presto non si vide che mezzo il suo disco affuocato, poi l’orlo, poi giù. La parte occidentale rimaneva gradatamente rossiccia e dove quel colore smoriva nel bruno sopraveniente, era raccolto e con diverse sfumatezze ravvivato da alcuni gruppi di nuvolaglia fatti a foggia di lana di pecora, che parevano immobili ma che pur s’abassavano verso mezzo dì.
