Ungemein komplexes, schier tief und weit gestaffeltes Bouquet, als hätte der Wein eine dreidimensionale Ebene: Schwaden von blau- und schwarzbeeriger Frucht, perfekt reife Heidel- und Brombeeren, Cassiswürze und Veilchen ohne Ende, dahinter ein Hauch feinste Vanilleschoten, Graphit und dunkle Schokolade. Am kräftigen und reichhaltigen Gaumen mit saftig-intensiver Attacke, die durchtrainierten Muskeln werden durch eine durchweg seidige Textur und festes Tanningerüst austariert, dessen Qualität zu den besten aller verkosteten Weine gehört. Perfekt konturiert, sehr vielschichtig, dabei mit klirrender Frische gepaart mit betörendem Fruchtdruck und edler Mineralik ausgestattet. It's rich, and velvety, with a vibrant ruby rim, all conveying structure and a sense of power. You can feel in the texture that it's a warm year, not holding back. Deep purple-black in color, it is much more closed than the La Mission. It holds back for the first few minutes, reticent to reveal what slowly uncoils to give wave after wave of exotic spices—cardamom, cassis, star anise and fenugreek—over an opulent core of red roses, Black Forest cake, warm cassis and black raspberries with nuances of cigar box, crushed rocks, truffles, tilled black soil, iron ore and smoked meats. The full-bodied palate is truly profound, with restrained black fruit and spice layers slowly offering mineral sparks and savory suggestions within a rock-solid frame of firm, super fine-grained tannins and beautiful freshness, finishing with epic length and depth. While the wine is certainly structured, it has all the finesse and elegance that is associated with this estate. Beautiful berry flavors are packed with acidity but supported by generous tannins. This is impressive and obviously will age well.« Weinwisser: 19,5/20 »Die gut 20 Hektar sind ebenfalls im Besitz der Familie Dillon. Das Gut liegt praktisch auf der anderen Strassenseite. 53,5 % Merlot, 3,6 % Cabernet Franc und 42,9 % Cabernet Sauvignon. Auch hier überzeugt schon der hervorragende Zweitwein. Der La Mission wird oft als feiner und «femininer» bezeichnet, dennoch kommt er nicht immer an den Haut-Brion ran. Hier war er aber ganz nah dran und es würde mich nicht wundern, wenn andere ihn sogar gleichauf mit Haut-Brion sehen. Dichtes, weit gefächertes und jetzt schon sehr harmonisch und reif wirkendes Bouquet mit dunkelroter und dunkelblauer Frucht, in der sehr dunkle Kirschen und reife Pflaumen den Ton angeben, auch zart rosinige und dann wieder changierend mineralische Noten schwingen mit. Dazu steigen verführerische Nuancen von Graphit, Arabica und Blumen wie Veilchen und leicht angetrocknete Rosen auf. Hat fast schon was Exotisches, aber im positiven, spannenden Sinne. Auch im Mund ein samtiges Elixier mit traumhaft seidig-cremiger Textur, grosser Balance und Geschmeidigkeit, bei der die Tannine schon voll integriert sind. Wie schon beim Haut-Brion ist die Tanninqualität auf einer anderen Stufe als bei vielen anderen Top-Weinen.
