Never an ordinary dragon, Nyra grew up forbidden to breathe fire or fly. Like her mother before her, she has only known a life of enslavement, held in thrall by mountain dragons, which need Nyra’s ripening wings to secure hunting for the future. But at the cusp of her first flying lesson, new rumors whisper through the herd. Mother pursues friendships in forbidden places, blurring the succinct enemy line. In a whirlwind of realization, Nyra uncovers a secret in plain sight, one thought unknown to her enslavers and putting her at the focal point of rebellion should it come into play. And come it does, but through an ill-timed accident, killing the slaves’ last chance of escape...or so it seems. To survive, Nyra must overcome old lies and terrible truths, each weaving a war she was never meant to encounter. ungekürzt. Language: English. Narrator: Andrew Pond. Noted systems developer, Lars Nielsen reveals the dynamic combination of innovation, competition and, often eccentric, entrepreneurship that went to shape today's tech landscape. From the military's ENIAC of 1946 to the ripening of the Web and e-commerce, Nielsen's Computing: A Business History details the evolution of computing as it has impacted the models and practices of markets and professional services around the globe. Nielsen explains not only the development of technologies, but the ongoing saga of strategic rivalries between such tech firms as IBM, Cisco, Apple, Microsoft, Google, and Facebook. He surveys the rise and fall of companies and platforms from the early days of the mainframe when the likes of Sperry Rand and DEC laid unsuccessful siege to IBM's market-share, through the era of Windows vs. Mac and beyond. And he vividly depicts the brilliant, but often rapacious, personalities behind the competition that shaped the business computing environment we know today. ungekürzt. Language: English. Jahrhundertwein!!! (98-99+ Punkte) Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: 97-100/100 Punkte »The 2018 Cos d'Estournel is composed of 74% Cabernet Sauvignon, 23% Merlot, 2% Petit Verdot and 1% Cabernet Franc and has 14.59% alcohol. Aging in 50% new barriques, it has a deep purple-black color and drifts effortlessly, gracefully, seductively out of the glass with slowly unfurling notions of blackcurrant cordial, wild blueberries, chocolate-covered cherries and plum pudding with touches of violets, licorice, wild roses and yeast extract plus a waft of loose tobacco. The full-bodied palate is built like a brick house with a solid frame of super firm, super ripe tannins and seamless freshness to back up the vibrant, crunchy, oh-so-muscular fruit, finishing long with loads of mineral layers. Amazing structure will keep this beauty for at least half a century and probably a full one!« James Suckling: 98-99/100 Punkte »The beautiful integration of ripe fruit and ripe tannins gives the wine a layered and agile mouthfeel. Soft and gorgeous with silky tannins that really kick in at the finish and carry the wine for a long time.« Falstaff: 98/100 Punkte »Tiefdunkles Rubingranat, opaker Kern, violette Reflexe, zarte Randaufhellung. Frische schwarze Herzkirschen, feine Edelholzwürze, ein Hauch von Nougat, mit schwarzen Waldbeeren unterlegt. Saftig, elegant, reife Kirschen, finessenreich, präsente, feinwürzige Tannine, zarter Nougat, ein sehr beeindruckender frischer Stil, zart nach Feigen im Nachhall.«  Decanter: 97/100 Punkte »This has some austerity on the attack, then announces its arrival in the inimitable way that Cos is able to do: with a slow build up of exotic spices, liquorice root, cedar and cassis. It stretches out through the palate and you keep waiting for the tannins to punch through like they did in 2010, but it doesn't happen, even though this is a big wine with high alcohol and an IPT of 80. There's a great menthol freshness on the finish, helped no doubt by a fresh 3.65pH. It has the luxurious signature of Cos, the glamorous touch that you look for in this wine - like at Mouton and at Angelus - that is part of their DNA, but it's also married to elegance and a touch of slate minerality. This is a wine that you would be thrilled to own. 12mm of rain on 12 September and 20mm in mid-August were just enough to stop any blockages in ripening, although the 30hl/ha yield is low due to a touch of mildew and some concentration in September. This compares to a more generous 45hl/ha in 2016. 65% of production went into the grand vin. 1% Petit Verdot makes up the blend, and the wine is aged in 50% new oak (a little lower than the usual 60%). A candidate to upscore when in bottle. Drinking Window 2028 - 2042«  Wine Enthusiast: 95-97/100 Punkte  »Barrel Sample. Big, rich and smoky in nature, with powerful fruits and dense tannins, this is a wine that is straining at the limits but still within balance. Rich, smoky flavors shine along with the black plum fruit and bright acidity. It will age for many years.« Weinwisser: 18,5/20 »74 % Cabernet Sauvignon 23 % Merlot, 2 % Cabernet Franc, 1 % Petit Verdot, 14,5 % vol, 2/3 Grand Vin, 29,5 hl/ha.

'I would compare her to writers like Helen Dunmore, Elizabeth Strout, Jon McGregor' BBC Radio 4 'Harding achieves a weighty sense of silence and things not said in this unsettling book about the aftershocks of trauma and the burdens of bearing witness' Sunday Times 'A masterly achievement, illuminating with wisdom and compassion the darkest corners of the human heart' Guardian A farm in Norfolk in the 1970s. A Japanese girl comes to visit her English lover in the house where he was born. She arrives on a day of perfect summer, stands with his mother in a garden filled with roses, watches as his brother walks fields of ripening wheat. But between the two brothers lies the shadow of their father's violent death almost twenty years before, the unresolved narrative of their childhood - a story that has gone untold, a story that began in the last war. In the presence of the girl, the old trauma begins to surface as the work of the harvest begins. 'Taut and unsettling ... A fine meditation on war's long reach' Mail on Sunday

The long awaited second book of the critically acclaimed, best-selling Reemergence is here. With an important diplomatic visit to the troll nation just days away, Tesser receives a phone call with dire news from Sin City. A bus is found in the desert; filled with the husks of dead bodies killed by something far from human. Unable to break away from the crucial meeting with the ancient troll kingdom, he dispatches his brother Ambryn; the dragon of death in his stead. Ancient mistakes are finally ripening like rotten fruit, and the black dragon must rush to the December desert of Nevada to harvest his own missteps before they transform an entire city into a necropolis before the world's eyes. And this time Ambryn doesn't have the help of his sister Kaula, so his task may be nearly impossible. At least now he has Mr. Doyle, Spoon, and a dark man with darker deeds in his past from old Europe on his side. Not all change is good. Welcome to the Reemergence. ungekürzt. Language: English.
