This time, we're back with a small gem that turned out to be the only full-length from the group formed by Roberto Martín and Silvia Sanz, or as they were also known, NIZA. Their moment on the Spanish pop scene was as fast and bright as a shooting star, and with only one album and two singles their music was heard in France, England, USA, Taiwan, South Korea, Japan Their releases sold out at the speed of light, and the rarities, B-sides, and lesser-known work that were scattered by labels half the world over turned them into collector's items. Canciones De Temporada (2002) was such a special album, marked by those two solstices - summer and winter - that closed each of the sides of the vinyl. In hindsight, we have the feeling it was an unpredictable incident, an exquisite earthquake, something inimitable. Mark Radcliffe played them on the BBC, LAMPCHOP had them as special guests in three concerts in Spain, the first edition of their album was sold out in less than a month, they were at the top of best-seller lists in FNAC after being named Talento FNAC, they participated in the Soft Pop Tour in Madrid, they performed with Britain's TREMBLING BLUE STARS, HARPER LEE, and LOVEJOY, their albums were licensed for sale in Taiwan, South Korea, and Japan What they did worked so well it seemed simple, but it wasn't. Songs that mixed pop with a soul accent, lounge music, chamber folk, electro-pop, and bossanova. Influences like Claudine Longet, Astrud Gilberto, Jeanette, and LE MANS. That delicate and precious pop spirit, with great attention paid to every single detail that makes up the album, is what brought them national and international recognition. Classical Guitarist Michael Patilla's performances have been hailed as '...introspective and immaculate' (Michael Huebner - The Birmingham News), and '...sensitive and refined, his sound beautiful and phrasing very expressive' (Alain-Michel Riou, composer - Paris, France). Prizewinner in various competitions in the United States and Europe, Michael Patilla is developing into a highly sought after concert artist. Past performances include the Volos Winter Guitar Festival in Greece, the Atelier Concert Series in Paris, the Dame Myra Hess Memorial Concert Series in Chicago, the City Stages Festival in Birmingham, the Piccolo Spoleto Festival in Charleston, and the C.M. Russell Museum of Art in Great Falls, Montana. Concerto appearances include the Alabama Symphony Orchestra, the Eastman Chamber Orchestra, and the Red Mountain Chamber Orchestra. A graduate of the Eastman School of Music, where he received instruction from Nicholas Goluses, Michael Patilla has also studied with Manuel Barrueco, Julian Gray, Bruce Holzman, Paul O'Dette, Christopher Parkening and Raphaella Smits. Michael currently serves on the music faculty of the Mississippi State University and directs the guitar program for the Masterworks Festival in Winona Lake, Indiana. His debut CD entitled Septiembre, featuring works by South American guitar composers, was released in January 2005. Michael Patilla performs on an instrument built by Paul Jacobson (2002) and is on the artist roster of Marylin Gilbert Artists Management (Toronto, Canada)

Rubik1138

Rubik1138 takes it's name from the Rubik cube, but with the inverse goal: instead of making six plain color faces, the idea is to combine the colors in every face infinitely. The number comes from the George Lukas film THX1138. The music travels form classic rock to jazz, nourished with electronic glances. The music is instrumental, and the live shows of the band use visual elements (lightning and video). Rubik1138 es una banda de rock instrumental. Toma su nombre de dos componentes principales: El cubo de rubik, el cual en cada una de sus caras presenta un color distinto, y su objetivo es tener uniformidad en la construcción de las caras. Sin embargo, al colocar de manera indefinida los cuadros que conforman el cubo, puede haber una infinidad de combinaciones. La música de Rubik1138 se asemeja a eso. El número 1138 se toma de la película de George Lucas: THX1138. Este título significa un código con el cual se le da nombre al personaje principal, en un mundo imaginario en donde todos los seres humanos pierden sus identidades y nombres. 1138 es el humano que decide romper con el orden establecido y escapar. La banda se forma en 2007 por Dasz Moko y Yehoudi. Es hasta febrero de 2008 que Mopho se integra al grupo, y funcionan así durante meses, dedicándose exclusivamente a la composición y definición del concepto. En septiembre del mismo año se integra a la batería Didi, cerrando así la alineación. El concepto del grupo está basado en la generación de atmósferas sonoras en donde se despersonaliza al músico a través del uso de máscaras, para darle fuerza interpretativa exclusiva a la música. Acompañados por videos y vestuarios, Rubik1138 pretende ofrecer al público un espectáculo completo sin palabras ni discursos, solo música y lo que ésta pueda generar en quien la escucha.
