  Der Opus One von Baron Philippe de Rothschild ist ein absoluter Spitzenwein aus dem Napa Valley in Kalifornien. Genauer gesagt, ist dieser Wein das Produkt der Kollaboration von Baron Philippe de Rothschild und Robert Mondavi – zwei ohnehin schon sehr populären Winzern. Klar, dass dabei nur das Beste herauskommen kann! Diese Cuvée besteht zum größten Teil aus Cabernet Sauvignon, was ihm seine unverwechselbare Struktur verleiht. Der Wein ist ein wahres Aushängeschild des Napa Valleys mit einem Hauch Bordeaux. So schmeckt man neben schwarzer und roter Johannisbeere auch Lakritz-, Zeder- und Tabaknoten. Eine körperreiche Struktur und feine, samtige Tannine enden in einem langen und mineralischen Ende. Für diesen herausragenden Wein gilt definitiv: Wenn man als Weingenießer die Chance erhält, einen gereiften Opus One aus hervorragendem Jahr zu genießen, dann wird das Geschmackserlebnis unvergessen bleiben.   Dem Team der Rothschilds sind in 2016 wirklich fantastische Weine gelungen. Allen voran natürlich der Grand Vin von Château Mouton-Rothschild. Doch die vielleicht positivste Überraschung für den Weingenießer ist der Château d'Armailhac. Denn dieser 5. Grand Cru ist noch zu einem relativ moderaten Preis zu haben und in 2016 fabelhaft gelungen. Der Château d'Armailhac ist ein »Spaßwein« à la Bonheurs mit super fruchtiger Nase, sehr gefällig und harmonisch. Am Gaumen gesellen sich zu Cassis- und Kirscharomen leichte Noten von Kaffee und Kakao. – Insgesamt ein sehr voller und ausbalancierter Rotwein, dazu frisch und lang. Swathes of blackberry and delicious, juicy acidity come together with the dry core on the palate. In a style that will age quickly, it is already showing a ripe, generous character."  James Suckling: 94/100 Punkte "Opulent and powerful for d'Armailhac with blackcurrants, blackberries and black olives. Full-bodied, tannic and extremely muscular. Very well done indeed."   Wine Spectator: 90-93/100 Punkte "Juicy and forward, with anise-tinged plum and cherry fruit backed by a light brambly structure. A lingering chalk echo adds length. The palate is medium-bodied with a great core of vibrant red and black fruits, ripe, grainy tannins and superb freshness, finishing long and minerally."  Vinous (Neal Martin): 90-92/100 Punkte "The 2017 d'Armailhac has an opulent bouquet despite this comprising one of the highest percentages of Cabernet Sauvignon ever, which Philippe Dhalluin attributes to the maturity of the berries. There is some lovely cassis and blueberry fruit here with a smear of vanilla. The palate is structured with fine tannin, here the Cabernets are much more expressive with a fine bead of acidity, an attractive pencil lead tincture coming through towards the finish. This is a more floral d'Armailhac that will drink well for the next decades. [Readers should note that my sample included 60% new oak although the final blend will be 40%.] Tasted three times with consistent notes." Lots of graphite and tobacco accents hang in the background for now. A firmly grounded wine.« Decanter: 95/100 Punkte »Another success from Grand-Puy-Lacoste – it’s bright and full of juice, prioritising vibrancy over power. As such, it has a touch less Pauillac typicity than in the absolutely brilliant 2016 vintage at this estate, although as it unfurls through the palate you do get the menthol, cassis and smoked cedar that is just such a beautiful sign of ripe Cabernet up in this corner of the world. They were extremely careful with extraction because of the high alcohols, so grapes underwent the shortest maceration to date with no pumping over just an infusion during the extraction process. Harvest took place between 21 September and 5 October. 12% press wine. 75% new oak used.
