Der La Mission wird oft als feiner und «femininer» bezeichnet, dennoch kommt er nicht immer an den Haut-Brion ran. Hier war er aber ganz nah dran und es würde mich nicht wundern, wenn andere ihn sogar gleichauf mit Haut-Brion sehen. Dichtes, weit gefächertes und jetzt schon sehr harmonisch und reif wirkendes Bouquet mit dunkelroter und dunkelblauer Frucht, in der sehr dunkle Kirschen und reife Pflaumen den Ton angeben, auch zart rosinige und dann wieder changierend mineralische Noten schwingen mit. Dazu steigen verführerische Nuancen von Graphit, Arabica und Blumen wie Veilchen und leicht angetrocknete Rosen auf. Hat fast schon was Exotisches, aber im positiven, spannenden Sinne. Auch im Mund ein samtiges Elixier mit traumhaft seidig-cremiger Textur, grosser Balance und Geschmeidigkeit, bei der die Tannine schon voll integriert sind. Wie schon beim Haut-Brion ist die Tanninqualität auf einer anderen Stufe als bei vielen anderen Top-Weinen.
