Crazy World
ABOUT THE ALBUM: CRAZY WORLD showcases some of Sandy's finest material, including songs by Jason Robert Brown, Stephen Schwartz, Maury Yeston, Stephen Sondheim, Amanda McBroom and others. With piano and music direction by longtime collaborator G. Scott Lacy, CRAZY WORLD also features a special appearance by cellist Deborah Yamak on one of the album's stand-out tracks, 'Since You Stayed Here'. Other highlights include 'I Won't Mind', 'Stars And The Moon', 'New Words', 'Ship In A Bottle', and new renditions of standards such as 'Meadowlark', 'Children Of The Wind', 'Why Did I Choose You' and the legendary title track. '...among the very best -- musically lovely and (rarer still) beautifully acted...The album overall is really wonderful, fine choices of songs, all well done.' - Josh Rubins, Composer/Lyricist (BROWNSTONE, ALL THE QUEEN'S MEN) 'Beautiful, sensitive...a wonderful recording.' - Jeff Blumenkrantz, Composer (THE OTHER FRANKLIN) 'Nice choice of songs. Campbell exhibits real talent with the material.' - Max Preeo, Editor, Show Music Magazine 'It only took hearing the first few phrases sung to let me know the songs are in good hands...Sandy's voice is instantly appealing...She has an open and sweet quality, but with intelligent phrasing that keeps her safely far away from over-sentimentality. It's no surprise to learn that she has experience in theater and cabaret. It shows...Campbell and G. Scott Lacy crystallize the emotional potential of rich songs like these. An encore would be very welcome.' - Talkin' Broadway. ABOUT THE ARTIST: Whether in cabaret or in concert, on stage or on disc, Sandy Campbell's warm and emotive soprano voice has become a celebrated favorite of Southern California audiences. Together with longtime musical director/accompanist G. Scott Lacy, she has developed and performed several acclaimed solo cabaret shows including The Stories Go On, an exploration of the story song in musical theatre, and And I'll Be There: Songs of Love and Friendship, which premiered at San Diego's North Coast Repertory Theatre in October 2003. Other cabaret appearances have included Sunday In The Park With Sondheim and Totally Tonys! For Outcast Productions and The Greatest Songs You've Never Heard. In October 2004, Sandy and Scott brought a program of their finest material to Schroeder's Club & Cabaret, San Diego's premiere cabaret venue. In June 2005, she returned to Schroeder's to celebrate the release of her first studio recording, CRAZY WORLD, produced and engineered by Eric Wilcox for TriTone Music Productions and released by Azahara Entertainment. In addition to her cabaret appearances, Sandy appeared as Anne Bronte in the concert version of the Steve Gunderson musical The Brontes, a production of the San Diego Ballet. She can also be heard on the concept recordings of several original works. As a theatre artist, Sandy has performed in a wide range of productions throughout Southern California and has built an impressive list of credits. In Summer 2006 she appeared in La Jolla Playhouse's world premier production of Zhivago, featuring the soaring melodies of The Secret Garden's Lucy Simon and directed by multiple Tony-winner Des McAnuff. Other notable roles include Cinderella in Into the Woods, Maria in West Side Story, Amalia in She Loves Me, Shelby in The Spitfire Grill, Rosa Bud in The Mystery of Edwin Drood, Aldonza in Man of La Mancha, Johanna in Sweeney Todd, Cordelia in William Finn's Falsettos and Abigail Adams in 1776. She has also been seen as Sarah in Guys and Dolls, Marian in The Music Man, Guenevere in Camelot, Anne in A Little Night Music, Hodel in Fiddler on the Roof and in the San Diego premiere of Jason Robert Brown's Songs For A New World. 'Campbell sings with irresistible clarity and power...' - Los Angeles Times 'Outstanding...a striking voice and presence...' - KPBS Radio 'Musical theatre heaven...there are echoes of Judy Collins in Campbell's soprano.' - San Diego Union 'Exceptional...Most remarkable...new levels of beauty and richness while filling her character with great tenderness, intelligence and emotion.' - San Diego Playbill.- Shop: odax

Secret Lovers Garden
In an age of immediacy the idea of waiting sounds are hopelessly outdated. But that said, there is something to be said about anticipation. Such is the case with Kenyatta's new album. Yes, after an extended hiatus the sexy ambassador of reggae/soul has returned with a brand new look and a fresh yet deliciously vintage sound. He might have been out of the spotlight, but Kenyatta along with long time collaborator and friend Dwight Yearwood, had begun crafting Secret Lovers Garden (SLG) over a year ago. The album is the first installment of a trilogy of compilations to follow. By late 2010, the process of polishing and shaping the album was fully on. Daniel "Kenyatta Fire" Terrelonge was born in Kingston, Jamaica and his love for music started in the household. Whatever everyone else listened to, he did as well. In his mid teens, he began to write and it easily transitioned into singing. Kenyatta acquired his B.S.C.E. in Civil Structural Engineering but this wasn't the end for him. He was determined to make an impact with his talent so singing at local lounges cemented his musical mission in life and prepared him for his greatest works ever. It wasn't long after that he began honing his talents whilst attracting major industry figures and influences into his project. A long awaited but destined outcome. To Kenyatta, music is as natural as breathing. When he adds his voice to a song, it is sure to be a bold and purposeful hit. His vocals are smooth, powerful and sultry. Secret Lovers Garden gives you diversity with the tracks touching various genres ranging from pop to reggae. The album can be basically considered as a 'melting pot' of genres - mixed all together yet the finish product ends up as a timeless piece of art work. Soulful. Sensual. Crisp. Sweet. Creative. These are five words that can be used to describe SLG. Each of the tracks will provide the listener with a unique and refreshing listening experience. Everything that Kenyatta gives you is genuine. His music is full of melodies, harmonies, ballads with such smooth hooks, metaphors and similes. What a fusion of sound. He is an incredible artist with incredible talent. Composed of eleven indelible songs Secret Lovers Garden finds Kenyatta exploring life with veracity and purpose. Opening with a thumping house arrangement, the first single, "A Little Dance," is nostalgic, ("bring your body tonight") and yet undeniably passionate. "It's about dancing the night away" Kenyatta describes. Produced by Alex Barnwell this song will get your heart and feet racing instantaneously. "Equally personal is "Is There a Way." Pushed along by a sturdy and incessant piano, Kenyatta, shifting from those oh so recognizable smooth falsettos and baritones, rides the melody like a man both possessed by and resigned to his feelings. "It's kind of about giving you all to the one you love yet the affections are not recognized and intercepted. What to do to get through to you to tell you that I love you. Produced by the infamous Jon FX. Another one of the many diamond talents influencing the album. Kenyatta has carefully orchestrated a media blitz with the release of the album. Critics roundly praised the album not only for it's musical Polish, but also for it's lyric maturity. Peppered by a funked up reggae, soul, house and popular music plus his Jamaican accent. It's very sexy stuff.- Shop: odax
