Music From Republik Der Wölfe, 1 Audio-CD

Es ist eine einmalige (und erstmalige) Kollaboration: Alexander Hacke (Einstürzende Neubauten / Crime & The City Solution), Mick Harvey (Mitbegründer von Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds), Danielle de Picciotto (Mitbegründer der Love Parade und Mitglied von Crime & The City Solution) und Paul Wallfisch (musikalischer Leiter des Schauspiel Dortmund und Botanica) haben den Soundtrack zur Theaterproduktion "Republik der Wölfe" komponiert, die Mitte Februar im Schauspiel Dortmund uraufgeführt wird. Gemeinsam firmieren die MusikerInnen als The Ministry Of Wolves und spielen die Musik dazu live im Theater. Anfang März erscheint das dazugehörige Album "Music From Republik der Wölfe" via Mute. Music From Republik der Wölfe fußt auf der Märchensammlung der Gebrüder Grimm und insbesondere dem Werk "Transformations" (1971) der Pulitzerpreisträgerin Anne Sexton, das die Grimmschen Märchen neu erzählt. Hacke, Mick Harvey, de Picciotto und Wallfischs musikalische Interpretationen zeigen die Märchen düster, als strenge Moralerzählungen, doch gewinnt etwa Rumpelstilzchen auch eine menschliche Komponente: "He is a monster of despair. He is all decay."

It is not clear whether the title of the 'theatrical introductions' should be taken literally, but certainly the works are composed in a striking manner such as would be expected for an overture fighting to catch the attention of a restless audience.
