    Instrumenta Musica ist ein auf historische Aufführungspraxis spezialisiertes Ensemble, das das Spiel mit originalen Instrumenten oder deren Kopien p?egt. Es widmet sich vornehmlich der Aufführung von Musik der Spätrenaissance und des Frühbarock aus dem deutsch- und italienischsprachigen Raum. Das jüngste Projekt des Ensembles beschäftigt sich mit der italienischen Tradition in Dresden, begründet durch die erstmalige Berufung italienischer Musiker und Künstler in die Hofkapelle unter Moritz von Sachsen im Jahre 1549. Antonio Scandello, Giovanni Battista Pinello und Carlo Farina sind die Namen der Komponisten, deren Werke mittels der hier vorliegenden Ersteinspielungen wieder der Öffentlichkeit zugänglich gemacht werden. Scandello wirkte ab 1568 als Hofkapellmeister am kurfürstlichen Hof in Dresden, Pinello wurde 1580 für vier Jahre sein Nachfolger, und Carlo Farina spielte in der Frühzeit des Hofkapellmeisteramtes Heinrich Schützens in der Hofkapelle Violine. Schütz wiederum hatte in seinem Kompositionsstil eine ganz besondere italienische Prägung erfahren, als er für vier Jahre in Venedig beim hochberühmten Giovanni Gabrieli studierte. Die daraus bezogenen Einflüsse verband er so geschickt mit anderen musikalischen Traditionen, dass er über Jahrzehnte hinweg für die deutsche Musik stilprägend wurde und ihn die Nachwelt mit dem Ehrentitel "Vater der deutschen Musiker" belegte. Eine andere Art italienischer Beeinflussung lässt sich bei Johann Hermann Schein feststellen, der als Kapellknabe am Dresdner Hof die dort herrschende italienische Musikpflege kennenlernte und später wie auch Schütz geschickt italienische und deutsche Formen in seinen Werken kombinierte. So entsteht der klingende Beweis, dass der Begriff "Elbflorenz" auch im musikalischen Bereich seine olle Berechtigung hat.
