Zen Business: An Eastern approach to the Western business climate. , Hörbuch, Digital, ungekürzt, 361min
David Serpa captures the very essence of truth in Zen Business. (Susan Ebert, Broker/Owner, Signature Real Estate Group) “Love, love, love this book. It's absolutely the best book to take with you into this new decade!" (Rosie Rodriguez, best-selling author, inspiring thought leader, & speaker) "This book has opened my eyes to focus on the important things in life, like family and friends, which will fuel my success in business. A must read!” (David Godwin, LtCol (Ret), USMC AnnieMac Home Mortgage)David Serpa takes a spiritual approach to business, family, and life in Zen Business. Offering an alternative to the allusive strive for balance to those desperately seeking to find it here in the West. If you find yourself sacrificing today for tomorrow, waiting for the light at the end of the tunnel, or just unhappy with the person in the mirror, it may be time to slow down, reflect, and listen to Zen Business. We come to understand Zen Business by reflecting on Bodhicitta (altruistic service), by being a true warrior and walking in the way of the Bushido (the Samurai Code), and in regularly engaging in Zazen and Mushin (meditation and no mind). We will think deeply on death, life, presence, breath, and detachment. And finally, we will analyze the connectivity of everything in the teachings of Islam/Sufism, Hinduism, modern day mysticism, and Christianity. We give extra focus to Christianity, as the "Religion of the West", in the final chapter as we dive deeply into ascension, Nirvana, the literal sigh of relief, and the decision to continue in the service of all sentient beings in Bodhi. There are a lot of wonderful books out there on spirituality and self-improvement. They miss the fact that business and spirituality are not separate things! Everything is connected. Zen Business helps you open doors on the "spiritual practice" you are currently calling a "business". ungekürzt. Language: English. Narrator: David Serpa. Wagner's Ring Motifs (MP3-Download)
"Wagner's Ring Motifs" is the first of auricula's audio guides to appear in English and is based on the company's 2004 release of a German version of the same text. The authors are Sven Friedrich, curator of the Richard Wagner Museum in Bayreuth, and Gerhard K. Englert, the editor of the previous audio guides that have been released in the same series and that explore the world of classical music. Together, the authors offer listeners a modern, convenient and quick introduction to Wagner's cycle, The Ring of the Nibelung. The motifs are presented in the order of their first appearance in the cycle and accompanied by an expert commentary. In this way, the listener is also introduced to the story of the Ring, an introduction that follows the narrative very closely by examining the development and meaning of the music. "Wagner's Ring Motifs" opens up the whole work in this way. It is aimed in the first instance at listeners new to the Ring and is intended to convey the fascination of Wagner's music in a clear and simple manner and to decode the musical and dramatic language of the mythical world of the cycle. But even listeners already familiar with the work will find that this database provides them with a crash course in what Thomas Mann described as the "allusive magic" of the Ring's leitmotifs. The narrator is the distinguished British bass-baritone Sir John Tomlinson, who has appeared in countless performances at the Bayreuth Festival since making his début there as Wotan in 1988.- Shop: buecher

Portrait Before Dark (eBook, ePUB)
Portrait Before Dark is a poem cycle that constitutes an imaginary dialogue between the poet and patron of the arts, Edward James, and the eccentric Viennese ballerina and star of the 1920's, Tilly Losch. Liana Sakelliou began writing these poems in August 2009, when she was serving as writer-in-residence at West Dean College in West Sussex, England. Three days before she was to leave for the U.K., a wildfire surrounded her home and neighborhood. In minutes the pine forest and hillside olive groves were lost. For days, the suitcase and the clothes she'd packed smelled of smoke. Edward James, the Anglo-American millionaire, gave his estate to a charitable trust, the Edward James Foundation, which includes the mansion, West Dean House, where the college is located. She sat on the satin Mae West Lips Sofa, one of Salvadore Dalí's surrealist sculptures and read James's poems. Through the biographical films that were screened at West Dean, she discovered James's friendships with artists such as Leonora Carrington, Dalí, and René Magritte, and with writers such as Christopher Isherwood, Edith Sitwell, and Evelyn Waugh. He seemed to know everyone from his era. He spoke to Freud, knew members of the Bloomsbury group, and was one of the most generous English patrons of the arts in the early 20th Century. He helped Max Ernst and Dylan Thomas, as well as the aforementioned artists. In 1933, during his marriage to Losch, James funded Balanchine's first ballet company, Les Ballets 1933, which was the foundation for his American Ballet Company. He commissioned The Seven Deadly Sins, a collaboration by Kurt Weil and Bertolt Brecht, featuring Losch as prima ballerina and Lotte Lenya as vocal soloist. Their marriage from 1930 to 1934 was short and disastrous, and their divorce was a scandal in London society. In 1937, Magritte painted two faceless portraits of James: "The Pleasure Principle: Portrait of Edward James" and "Not to be Reproduced," to which Sakelliou refers in her poems. The setting of West Dean seemed made for children-with topiary birds and spirals, lush flowers, conservatories, and sheep one could pet. Sakelliou saw portraits of the James family, as well as Man Ray and Pavel Tschelitchew photos of Edward and Tilly walking through the palace corridors. She liked their faces, their poses. She wanted to write quiet, allusive poems that speak through their voices. The English woodlands serve as a flexible space for Sakelliou's concerns about the Greece's beautiful and fragile environment and the wildfires that continue to ravage the country every summer combined with her imagining the spaciousness of Edwards's and Losch's love as conflicting emotions burn down their marriage.- Shop: buecher

A Crime Against Art
A Crime Against Art is a film based on the trial staged at an art fair in Madrid in February 2007. Inspired by the mock trials organized by André Breton in the 1920s and 30s, it playfully raises a number of polemical issues in the world of contemporary art: collusion with the "new bourgeoisie," instrumentalization of art and its institutions, the future possibility of artistic agency, as well as other pertinent topics. * * The trial begins with the assumption that a crime has been committed, yet its nature and evidence are allusive and no victims have come forward. The testimonies and cross-examinations become an attempt by the Judge (Jan Verwoert), the Prosecuters (Vasif Kortun and Chus Martinez), and the Defense Attorney (Charles Esche) to unravel the nature of the puzzling "crime against art." Set as a television courtroom drama and filmed by four camera crews, the film serial presents a condensed 100 minutes version of the trial. * * Produced by unitednationsplaza and published with BDV, Paris. * * DVD multizone, NTSC, 100 minutes.- Shop: odax
