J’ai connu, en Haute-Egypte, un merveilleux jardin tout rempli de fleurs et embaumé des parfums les plus suaves. Des jardiniers diligents l’entretiennent depuis des années dans un ordre parfait, bien que le maître ne vienne jamais occuper la petite maison charmante qui se trouve au centre de ce paradis. On se borne à le montrer aux touristes et à le leur faire admirer. Ceux-ci partent souvent avec un sentiment d’envie à l’égard du propriétaire, qu’une peine de c&oelig;ur a banni depuis longtemps de ce jardin de rêve. Moi-même, en le visitant, je n’ai pu m’empêcher de penser à notre beau Musée du Cinquantenaire, délaissé par ses vrais propriétaires et que parcourent surtout les étrangers qui, après une trop brève visite, ne peuvent manquer de s’étonner de ce que les Belges possèdent un semblable trésor archéologique et artistique.
