  The DS1232LP/LPS Low Power MicroMonitor Chip monitors three vital conditions for a microprocessor: power supply, software execution, and external over-ride. First, a precision temperature-compensated reference and comparator circuit monitors the status of VCC. When an out-of-tolerance condition occurs, an internal power-fail signal is generated which forces reset to the active state. When VCC returns to an in-tolerance condition, the reset signals are kept in the active state for a minimum of 250 ms to allow the power supply and processor to stabilize.

  The AD581 is a three-terminal, temperature compensated, monolithic bandgap voltage reference which provides a precise 10.00 volt output from an unregulated input level from 12 to 30 volts. Laser Wafer Trimming (LWT) is used to trim both the initial error at +25°C as well as the temperature coefficient, which results in high precision performance previously available only in expensive hybrids or oven-regulated modules. The 5 mV initial error tolerance and 5 ppm/°C guaranteed temperature co-efficient of the AD581L represent the best performance combination available in a monolithic voltage reference.

A precision temperature-compensated reference and comparator circuit are used to monitor the status of the power supply (VCC). When an out-of-tolerance condition is detected, an internal power-fail signal is generated which forces reset to the active state. When VCC returns to an in-tolerance condition, the reset signal is kept in the active state for approximately 350ms to allow the power supply and processor to stabilize. The second function of the DS1233 is pushbutton reset control. The DS1233 debounces a pushbutton closure and will generate a 350ms reset pulse upon release.
