Dannie Marie Band
The Dannie Marie Band adds a rock flair to the imagery and story-telling elements of country music to create songs that appeal to teens, young adults, and the young-at-heart. The band's lead singer has been described as 'a brunette Taylor Swift with a rock edge.' While most of her peers were deciding which college to attend after graduation, 18-year-old Dannie Marie was busy putting together a band to back her up for a 2-hour gig at the upcoming San Diego County Fair (June 2010). After lots of prayer and networking, she recruited some of San Diego's best young musicians, and The Dannie Marie Band was born. Master virtuoso Dennis Caplinger joined the band in the recording studio to add some "country kick" to the CD with his fiddle, banjo, and mandolin. Caplinger has a long list of movie and commercial credits as a musician. He has also played and recorded with many well-known artists, including Eric Clapton, Vince Gill, and Nickel Creek. The Dannie Marie Band's live show set list includes the original songs, 'Marry Me', 'Home Sweet Home', 'Flavor of the Week', 'Here Comes The Bride', and 'Sweetheart Song', as well as covers of songs by the artists and bands that have inspired them (Taylor Swift, Rascal Flatts, The Band Perry, and Little Big Town). As Christians, the band members also like to include a worship song or two at every performance. Since their first gig at the San Diego County Fair in June 2010, The Dannie Marie Band has performed at various venues in their hometown of San Diego, CA. The band's lead singer (Dannie Marie) and bassist (Coe Schneider) traveled to Nashville in October 2010 to showcase at writers nights and open mics at the Music City landmark Bluebird Cafe, as well as Nashville Palace, Douglas Corner, Hotel Indigo, and Pucketts in nearby Franklin, TN. The band's mission is to entertain and inspire audiences with their music and concerts, and to be good role models for their generation. Entertainment Editor Diana Saenger had this to say about The Dannie Marie Band in her feature article in the East County Gazette: 'Hundreds of youth bands start up every year - the kids' starry-eyed dreams hang in the balance that they will be something unique and find fame and fortune. This summer San Diego saw the emergence of yet another hopeful group when the Dannie Marie Band started playing in different arenas. Their mix of country rock, pop, some original tunes and Christian worship music made instant fans of their audiences, but their demeanor, influenced by band leader Dannie Marie Pupa, set the group solidly apart from their peers. Act I
KACIE EDWARDS BIO Kacie Edwards was born in the beautiful Bluegrass state of Kentucky, which still remains her home. Although, no other members of her family performed, Kacie was blessed with that divine spark that made her realize from her young age that she wanted to be a performer. She began singing at five years old, and by age 11, she started training in opera. It may be this early training that helped to develop her rangy voice and her ability to hold impossibly long notes. A fact that has had seasoned professionals step back in wonder. Kacie's early music influences show that eclectic taste that is still a part of her make up. Elvis Presley, Jim Reeves, Peggy Lee, Brenda Lee, Nat King Cole, Bing Crosby, Jeanette MacDonald, Slim Whitman, Patsy Cline, Tammy Wynette. In her teenage years, she enjoyed the music of Pink Floyd, Mike Oldfield and the Rolling Stones. Kacie first performed professionally in 1994. At the time, she was singing Country and Easy Rock. She came to the attention of Patty Loveless's manager, Ray Ferguson who introduced who some while later introduced her to industry veteran, Barry McCloud. He produced some sides on her but they both knew that Kacie's time had not yet arrived. It would take a few more years for that time to arrive. In 2010, the two teamed up again via the social network, Facebook and in the ensuing years, Kacie had grown from a talented amateur to a mind blowing professional. With this maturity came a musical development that embraced Blue-Eyed Soul, Power Pop and Jazz. Barry McCloud immediately signed her to both a management and production agreement with the full conviction that the entertainment world needed to hear and see Kacie Edwards. Kacie lists as her leisure activities, swimming and horseback riding. She also enjoys cooking and her chili is to die for. She is an animal lover and also enjoys painting statues. In 2000, Kacie Edwards rededicated her life and this gave her a more positive view on life. She holds a very humanist view of her fellow man and woman. "To me we are all equal. We are all created the same and we should treat each other with kindness and respect and wherever you can lend a helping hand you should do so." Her words are not hollow. In 2010, she recorded "The Gift of Christmas" to benefit the National Hemophilia Foundation. On hearing the single, people have been reduced to tears when they hear the sincerity in Kacie's voice as she appeals for understanding for those less fortunate. Kacie is now recording her debut album, "Act I" and Barry McCloud has gathered the cream of Nashville's session players who are thoroughly relishing playing on a non-Country CD.
