Drunk with Blood: God's Killings in the Bible , Hörbuch, Digital, ungekürzt, 584min
Completely Revised Second Edition with 23 new killings from the Apocrypha. Drunk With Blood includes a separate account for each of God's 158 killings. These stories fill the pages of the Bible, yet they are seldom read in church and are ignored by most Bible believers, which is a shame because God is so proud of his killings: "I kill...I wound...I will make mine arrows drunk with blood and my sword shall devour flesh." Deuteronomy 32:39-42 You've probably heard of a few of God's killings. Noah's Flood, Sodom and Gomorrah, David and Goliath, maybe. But there are over 150 others that are unknown to pretty much everyone, believer and nonbeliever alike. Did you know, for example, that God: Forced friends and family to kill each other for dancing naked around Aaron's golden calf? Burned Aaron's sons to death for offering him strange fire? Burned complainers to death, forced the survivors to eat quail until it literally came out their noses, sent "fiery serpents" to bite people for complaining about the lack of food and water, and killed 14,700 for complaining about his killings? Buried alive those that opposed Moses (along with their families)? Burned 250 men to death for burning incense? Rewarded Phinehas for throwing a spear though the bellies of an inter-tribal couple while they were having sex? Ordered, assisted in, or approved of dozens of complete genocides? Accepted human sacrifice in the cases of Jephthah's daughter and Saul's seven sons? Helped Samson murder 30 men for their clothes, slaughter 1,000 with the jawbone of an ass, and kill 3,000 civilians in a suicide terrorist attack? Smote the Philistines of several cities with hemorrhoids in their secret parts? Killed a man for trying to keep the ark of the covenant from falling and 50,070 for looking into the ark? Lifting the Veil: Sophie Masterson/Dixon Security Series Book 1 , Hörbuch, Digital, ungekürzt, 336min
Unemployed accountant Sophie Masterson never dreams that a trip to Salem on Halloween night will change her life forever. When a birthday gift of a psychic reading is thrust upon her by her best friend, Sophie has no choice but to play along. She wants the winning lottery numbers but, instead, receives something far more ominous - a warning of things to come. Being told her own clairvoyant abilities will soon surface should be enough to send any woman running to hide. Throw in the possibility that something sinister is headed her way and all she wants is an easy out. When asked to help her brother, the police chief, with some easy filing, she's sure that her problems are over. She now has an income, a job, and a safe haven where she can relax. What she doesn't expect is that one of those files will be the catalyst to set the wheels in motion for the predictions to come true. Detective Jack Love has a hard time following instructions. When his latest bust gets him benched, and shoved in the cold case filing room, the last thing he expects is to be tasked with babysitting the chief's sister. When unqualified and in-need-of-medication Sophie gets the crazy idea to play detective on a case gone cold, there is little he can do to dissuade her from investigating. Attempting to keep her clairvoyant abilities a secret, Sophie Masterson thrusts herself into a cold case where the dead are multiplying, the clues are disappearing, and the hunky cop assigned to play babysitter is a nonbeliever. She doesn't hold out much hope for solving the case, much less keeping her secret, especially when the dead seek her out to tell their tales. When Sophie plays a deadly game of cat and mouse with winner takes all, it's no longer the dead that scare her, but Jack Love. Surviving with her heart intact now ranks at the top of her list. ungekürzt. Language: English. Narrator: Tess Irondale. 21 Powerful Scriptures - Know, Appreciate, and Walk in Your New Position: 21 Powerful Scriptures - Quick Guide , Hörbuch, Digital, ungekürzt, 13min
In the common adoption process that we are familiar with, when a child is adopted into a new family they take on not only the new family’s name, but also the family rights. Irrelevant of the child’s previous upbringing or financial status, that child now has access to the same rights with others in the same house. If the children are taken to school in a limousine but in that child’s previous home they walked miles to school; this child now has the right to be driven in a nice limousine to his new school. I am sure many of us understand this. However, that child may choose to walk to school if he/she wanted. But it will feel sad for that parents since the child will not be enjoying what the parent have on offer. I sometimes think; that is the way God feels about us Born-again Believers. Christ has given us the right to be called children of God; yet many times we still live out of the old nature. It is not uncommon to have believers commit the same sin; speak the same way, have the same habits the nonbeliever has. This ought not to be, so the problem simply stated is that we do not yet come to an understanding of our new position in Christ. My daughter went to a meeting where her friend was ministering to small group of people and at that meeting her friends spoke about “your new position” in Christ Jesus. One of the statements he made was that if you knew who you were in Christ, you will automatically stop sinning. The reason why many believers continue in sin, for example, is because they have not come to a full understanding of who they are in Christ and the power they have within them. I would really like us to meditate on these 21 Scriptures included in this audiobook; pray about them, and also begin to put them into practice. I am sure they will bring you into a better understanding of all you are in Christ Jesus. ungekürzt. Language: English. Narrator: Gregory Allen Siders. 10% Happier: How I Tamed the Voice in My Head, Reduced Stress Without Losing My Edge, and Found a Self-Help That Actually Works , Hörbuch, Digital, ungekürzt, 470min
Nightline anchor Dan Harris embarks on an unexpected, hilarious, and deeply skeptical odyssey through the strange worlds of spirituality and self-help, and discovers a way to get happier that is truly achievable. After having a nationally televised panic attack on Good Morning America, Dan Harris knew he had to make some changes. A lifelong nonbeliever, he found himself on a bizarre adventure, involving a disgraced pastor, a mysterious self-help guru, and a gaggle of brain scientists. Eventually, Harris realized that the source of his problems was the very thing he always thought was his greatest asset: the incessant, insatiable voice in his head, which had both propelled him through the ranks of a hyper-competitive business and also led him to make the profoundly stupid decisions that provoked his on-air freak-out. We all have a voice in our head. It's what has us losing our temper unnecessarily, checking our email compulsively, eating when we're not hungry, and fixating on the past and the future at the expense of the present. Most of us would assume we're stuck with this voice that there's nothing we can do to rein it in but Harris stumbled upon an effective way to do just that. It's a far cry from the miracle cures peddled by the self-help swamis he met; instead, it's something he always assumed to be either impossible or useless: meditation. After learning about research that suggests meditation can do everything from lower your blood pressure to essentially rewire your brain, Harris took a deep dive into the underreported world of CEOs, scientists, and even marines who are now using it for increased calm, focus, and happiness. 10% Happier takes listeners on a ride from the outer reaches of neuroscience to the inner sanctum of network news to the bizarre fringes of America's spiritual scene, and leaves them with a takeaway that could actually change their lives. There Is a God: A Collection of Christian Poetry , Hörbuch, Digital, ungekürzt, 60min
God is using my poetry as another way to reach out to you. When I was writing the many poems that make up my different collections, I felt that the Lord was giving me a way to fellowship with you and share Gospel truths by way of poetry. This poetry is made to be reflected on individually or in a group setting. I find that it is a lovely way to worship God. I have found that reading the poems heightens my awareness of God's love. I have found that the poems teach more dependence on God for guidance. I have found the poems to view things through the lens of hope. As in previous collections, my goal with this book is to share my poetry using scriptural truths to drive home certain points. Many of the poems have scripture references. At the beginning and ending of this book, the scriptures point to some of the attributes of God. They speak of his holiness, his righteousness, his love for us. There is a bit of a progression at times with the poems. "Jesus Bridges the Gap" explains the fall, a relationship with Christ, trials, and growth. Other poems may be specific to something, such as God's healing, overcoming sin, or other situations in the life of a believer or nonbeliever. I like using wordplay, and rhythmic sounds to write my poetry, and I find that certain phrases pop into my head at different times, reminding me of the poem and the scriptural truths that it regards. I would like to see more people witnessing about Jesus, being on fire for the Lord, "getting off the fence," and not choosing neutrality. I hope you find reading enjoyment with this collection, and that it draws you closer to God. "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made." - John 1:1-3 ungekürzt. Language: English. Narrator: John Riddle.
