100 Times: A Memoir of Sexism , Hörbuch, Digital, ungekürzt, 337min
Shirley Jackson Award-winning author and three-time Lambda Finalist, Chavisa Woods presents 100 personal stories of sexism, harassment, discrimination, and assault.Recounting her experiences with sexist discrimination, sexual harassment, and sexual violence - beginning in childhood, through the present - Woods lays out clear and unflinching personal vignettes that build in intensity as the number of times grows. Individually, and especially taken as a whole, these stories amount to powerful proof that sexual violence and discrimination are never just one-time occurrences, but part of a constant battle all women face every day.In this extraordinary audio, sexual violence and sexist discrimination occur regardless of age, in all spheres of society, in rural and urban areas alike, in the US and abroad, from Woods' youth through adulthood. Demonstrating how often people are conditioned to endure sexism and harassment, and how thoroughly men feel entitled to women's spaces and bodies, 100 Times forces the listener to witness the myriad ways in which sexism and misogyny continuously shape women's lives, and are built-in facets of our society. ungekürzt. Living Dolls: The Return of Sexism , Hörbuch, Digital, ungekürzt, 554min
I once believed that we only had to put in place the conditions for equality for the remnants of old-fashioned sexism in our culture to wither away. I am ready to admit that I was wrong. Empowerment, liberation, choice. Once the watchwords of feminism, these terms have now been co-opted by a society that sells women an airbrushed, highly sexualised and increasingly narrow vision of femininity. Drawing on a wealth of research and personal interviews, Living Dolls is a straight-talking, passionate, and important book that makes us look afresh at women and girls, at sexism and femininity - today. ungekürzt. Misogynation: The True Scale of Sexism , Hörbuch, Digital, ungekürzt, 400min
A collection of essays from best-selling author and founder of the Everyday Sexism Project, Laura Bates. Laura Bates, pioneering feminist, activist and best-selling author, has given voice to hundreds of thousands of women through her international Everyday Sexism Project. Drawing attention to both hidden and blatant sexist acts and attitudes, Laura has exposed the startling truth behind misogyny in our society: systemic, ingrained and ignored. From Weinstein to Westminster, a torrent of allegations of sexual harassment and assault have left us reeling. One hundred years since some women were first given the right to vote, we are still struggling to get to grips with the true extent of gender inequality that continues to flourish in our society. In this collection of essays, originally published in The Guardian, Laura Bates uncovers the sexism that exists in our relationships, in our workplaces, in our media, in our homes and on our streets but which is also firmly rooted in our lifelong assumptions and in the actions and attitudes we explain away, defend and accept. Often dismissed as one-offs, veiled as 'banter' or described as 'isolated incidents', Misogynation joins the dots to reveal the true scale of discrimination and prejudice women face. A bold, witty and incisive analysis of current events, Misogynation makes a passionate argument for stepping back, opening our eyes and allowing ourselves to see the bigger picture. ungekürzt. AMPLIFEST 2021 - VOL #03
Neben Highlights wie Agnostic Front, Beatsteaks, Terrorgruppe, UK Subs, oder No Fun At All bleibt auch die gemeinsame Tour von Lagwagon und No Use For A Name unvergessen. April! Richtig, man verpflichtet March fürs Amplifest! Wir freuen uns riesig auf die erste March-Show in Freiburg!FIRST SPRINGSupport your local scene! NO SEXISM, NO HOMOPHOBIA, NO RACISM, NO FACISM. Excluded (eBook, ePUB)
A transformational approach to overcoming the divisions between feminist communities While many feminist and queer movements are designed to challenge sexism, they often simultaneously police gender and sexuality -- sometimes just as fiercely as the straight, male-centric mainstream does. Some feminists vocally condemn other feminists because of how they dress, for their sexual partners or practices, or because they are seen as different and therefore less valued. Among LGBTQ activists, there is a long history of lesbians and gay men dismissing bisexuals, transgender people, and other gender and sexual minorities. In each case, exclusion is based on the premise that certain ways of being gendered or sexual are more legitimate, natural, or righteous than others. As a trans woman, bisexual, and femme activist, Julia Serano has spent much of the last ten years challenging various forms of exclusion within feminist and queer/LGBTQ movements. In Excluded, she chronicles many of these instances of exclusion and argues that marginalizing others often stems from a handful of assumptions that are routinely made about gender and sexuality. These false assumptions infect theories, activism, organizations, and communities -- and worse, they enable people to vigorously protest certain forms of sexism while simultaneously ignoring and even perpetuating others. Serano advocates for a new approach to fighting sexism that avoids these pitfalls and offers new ways of thinking about gender, sexuality, and sexism that foster inclusivity.- Shop: buecher

90s Bitch: Media, Culture, and the Failed Promise of Gender Equality , Hörbuch, Digital, ungekürzt, 693min
To understand how we got here, we have rewind the VHS tape. 90s Bitch tells the real story of women and girls in the 1990s, exploring how they were maligned by the media, vilified by popular culture, and objectified in the marketplace. Trailblazing women like Hillary Clinton, Anita Hill, Marcia Clark, and Roseanne Barr were undermined. Newsmakers like Monica Lewinsky, Tonya Harding, and Lorena Bobbitt were shamed and misunderstood. The advent of the 24-hour news cycle reinforced society's deeply entrenched sexism. Meanwhile, marketers hijacked feminism and poisoned girlhood for a generation of young women. Today, there are echoes of '90s “bitchification” nearly everywhere we look. To understand why, we must revisit and interrogate the 1990s - a decade in which female empowerment was twisted into objectification, exploitation, and subjugation. Yarrow’s thoughtful, juicy, and timely examination is a must-listen for anyone trying to understand 21st-century sexism and end it for the next generation. ungekürzt. Language: English.
