Gary Hoey als ziemlich bunten Hund zu bezeichnen, ist bestimmt nicht übertrieben. Der US-Amerikaner ist schon in allen Genres unterwegs gewesen - Heavy Rock, Prog und Surfsound waren dabei, außerdem Filmmusik, verrockte Weihnachtslieder sogar, und vieles mehr - die Liste ließe sich lange fortsetzen. Fakt ist: Hoey gilt heute als einer der versiertesten und vielseitigsten Gitarristen der Welt, und er hat im Blues und Bluesrock seine Heimat gefunden. Gary Hoey lebte in jungen Jahren in Boston. Dort begann alles, als Ozzy Osbourne 1987 auf ihn aufmerksam wurde. Der 'Prince of Darkness' suchte seinerzeit einen Gitarristen. Er bekam ein Tape von Hoey in die Hand und lud ihn zum Vorspielen nach Los Angeles ein. Den Job in Osbournes Band ergatterte bekanntlich Zakk Wylde, trotzdem waren für Hoey damit die Weichen für den Weg ins Musikbusiness gestellt. Er siedelte nach L.A. um, gründete mit Drummer Frankie Banali von Quiet Riot die Gruppe Heavy Bones. Hoey produzierte Lita Fords (The Runaways) 2012 erschienene Platte "Living Like A Runaway" und wandte sich im Jahr darauf mit seinem bis dato letzten eigenen Album "Deja Blues" jenem Genre zu, dessen Faszination er so auf den Punkt bringt: "Blues lag mir stets am Herzen und nötigt mir tiefen Respekt ab. Immer wenn ich einen Bluestitel einspiele, wird daraus eine atemberaubende Reise: Wenn die Energie erst einmal fließt, bleibt der Aufnahmeknopf so lange gedrückt, bis sie gespeichert ist." So hat Gary Hoey es auch bei der Produktion seines aktuellen, zwanzigsten Longplayers "Dust &amp, Bones" gehalten, das er in der Tradition von Robert Johnson, Johnny Winter, Robin Trower und auch Led Zeppelin verortet, und auf dem sich Metal-Queen Lita Ford mit einem Gastauftritt ("Coming Home") bei ihm revanchiert hat. Seine Fender Stratocaster in der Hand und den Marshall-Verstärker unter Strom - dies und sonst nichts braucht Robin Trower seit nunmehr über 50 Jahren, um Musik zu kreieren und ins Fließen zu bringen, die für seine nach wie vor große weltweite Fangemeinde immer noch zum Besten zählt, was der Bluesrock zu bieten hat. Berühmtheit erlangte der heute 73-jährige Gitarrist, als er 1967 bei Procol Harum einstieg und dort für fünf Jahre und ebenso viele Alben seine Heimat fand, seit 1973 ist der Brite auf seinen eigenen Bluespfaden unterwegs, unterbrochen von einer Procol-Harum-Reunion 1991 (Album "The Prodigal Stranger") sowie Kooperationen mit Großen ihrer Zunft wie Jack Bruce (Album "B.L.T.", 1981) oder Bryan Ferry ("Taxi", 1993). Drei Dutzend unter eigenem Namen veröffentlichte Alben säumen seinen Weg inzwischen, darunter der frühe Megaseller "Bridge Of Sighs" (1974). Speziell in jüngerer Zeit ist Trower mit Platten wie "Something's About To Change" (2015), "Where You Are Going To" (2016) sowie "Time And Emotion" (2017) nochmals zu beinahe unglaublicher Hochform aufgelaufen. In genau dieselbe Kerbe schlägt er jetzt mit seinem neuen Longplayer "Coming Closer To The Day". Dieser Albumtitel deutet auf ein hohes Maß an Reflektiertheit bei Robin Trower hin. Trower sagt: "In meinem Alter ist das Ende näher als der Anfang, so viel ist klar. Ob mir das Angst macht? Nein, nicht im mindesten." Einen Grund zum Trübsal blasen vermag er diesbezüglich jedenfalls nicht zu erkennen: "Das Leben ist kurz und die Zeit wertvoll!". Ans Aufhören verschwendet er keinen Gedanken, das komme einfach nicht in Frage. Und das ist auch gut so, denn "Coming Closer To The Day", aufgenommen im Studio 91 im englischen Newbury, ist Vintage-Trower vom Feinsten - erdig und rund, strotzend vor Kraft und Spielfreude und geschmackvoll mit zahlreichen wundervollen Reminiszenzen an Trowers große US-Vorbilder B.B. King, Albert King und Jimi Hendrix versehen.

In the Mid '70s, he played drums briefly for Grammy Award Winning Blues legend, Luther Allison. In 2008, he began writing and collaborating on the music for Roy Bob & the Country Carrousers. (Formerly North Country Carrousers). DAVE STEFFEN - guitar, background vocals. Dave is a prolific solo artist in Rock, Blues, and Country. He leads bands Sunblind Lion and The Dave Steffen Band. He has played festivals and clubs all over the Midwest, California, and Hawaii. Dave has opened for Santana, Journey, Montrose, and Huey Lewis. DARRYL ST. JOHN - guitar, background vocals. Darryl has been a musical force in the Midwest since 1972. The '80s found Darryl in California with the band Alcivar with members from Montrose, Robin Trower, Sammy Hagar, and Gamma. Darryl was also the lead guitarists for The Davey Pattison Band. Darryl has also played with Neal Schon of Journey and Rick Nielsen of Cheap Trick. TOMMY GREYWOLF - fiddle, mandolin, background vocals. Tommy comes from a musical family in Milwaukee, WI and is classically trained in violin. He has played for the award winning country duo Brooks & Dunn, is a master session musician and a major part of the Country Carrousers sound. CRAIG NEUSER - bass, background vocals. Craig is known for his natural playing style and powerful, soulful vocals. James played in clubs, festivals, studio work, then became the sound engineer for a country band & later became the bands guitarist-vocalist, always wanting to write & perform his own music, James got his CDL in 1989 & hit the road driving for various trucking companies traveling all over the US, hauling freight & writing music & songs, This worked out well for a while until an illness hospitalized James several times & required him to take himself off the road, but still did not detour his song-writing abilities, and soon James was performing at a local church, became a M.T.O for MMC in meridian, Ms which provided the necessary equipment & studio required to record & produce his music which he calls his gift from the Lord. Now with 14 Cds & 154 songs registered with BMI, James will as soon as his health allows be performing at small churches & festivals around Ms & possibly Al., La., Ten., areas & wherever the Lord directs him. Now 55 years old & still not in the best of health, with years of experience in making music, James is looking forward to performing where-ever the Lord wants him to play & testify to the power of the life saving grace of our Lord & savior Jesus Christ.
