Heinrich von Kleist (eBook, ePUB)
Heinrich von Kleist (1777-1811) was a rebel who upset canonization by employing his predecessors and contemporaries as what Steven Howe calls "inspirational foils." It was precisely a keen awareness of literary and philosophical traditions that allowed Kleist to shatter prevailing paradigms. Though little is known about what specifically Kleist read, the frequent allusions in his enduringly modern oeuvre indicate fruitful dialogues with both canonical and marginal works of European literature, spanning antiquity (The Old Testament, Sophocles), the Early Modern Period (Shakespeare, De Zayas), the late Enlightenment (Wieland, Goethe, Schiller), and the first eleven years of the nineteenth century (Mereau, Brentano, Collin). Kleist's works also evidence encounters with his philosophical precursors and contemporaries, including the ancient Greeks (Aristotle) and representatives of all phases of Enlightenment thought (Montesquieu, Rousseau, Ferguson, Spalding, Fichte, Kant, Hegel), economic theories (Smith, Kraus), and developments in anthropology, sociology, and law. This volume of new essays sheds light on Kleist's relationship to his literary and philosophical influences and on their function as paradigms to which his writings respond.- Shop: buecher

Pray For Us Sinners , Hörbuch, Digital, ungekürzt, 457min
Allayne Witt was the "local girl made good," of Ash Lake, Florida. One of daytime's most popular stars, Allayne wins further admiration for her fight with breast cancer, and high school friends Ronnie Lord and sister Gina are happy to assist with her needs, despite the chaos involved in preparing for Lorena Alger's canonization. When Allayne unexpectedly dies, however, her mother Lorraine is convinced a murder got to the star before the cancer did. She thinks Ronnie is the perfect person to solve a crime, but does one really exist? Can Ronnie resist the pull of "Hurricane Lorraine," the ultimate stage mother, while also keeping her sanity among quarreling boyfriends, her grandmother's clandestine love affair, and the romantic advances of the boy who helped steal Lorena's body months before? Jesus Is My All in All: Praying with the 'Saint of Calcutta' , Hörbuch, Digital, ungekürzt, 59min
Solely with Mother Teresa of Calcutta's words, Missionary of Charity Father Brian Kolodiejchuk has composed this powerful novena to the "Saint of Calcutta". These nine days of prayer seeking Blessed Teresa's intercession for a special need or intention can bring the one who prays many blessings, particularly the grace of a greater love for God. In prayer, we learn how to serve God joyfully in others, especially those most in need. Each day's prayer includes a petition to Blessed Teresa to "teach me to allow Jesus to penetrate and possess my whole being so completely that my life, too, may radiate His light and love to others." Father Brian met Mother Teresa in 1977 and joined the Missionaries of Charity Fathers at the time of their foundation in 1984. He is postulator of the Cause of Beatification and Canonization of Mother Teresa of Calcutta and director of the Mother Teresa Center. ungekürzt. Language: English.
